I too am an adult orphan. The only way I cope well is that I didn't come from a traditional family. My father let my mother run the show. I was not raised patriarchal, I was raised matriarchal. I have more esteem because I don't rely on tradition.

Damn this is heartbreaking. I was molested by my older brother when I was around 7-8. Still not knowing what sex was or having watched pornography until after the fact. Even though what happened is now apart of my life experience, it took a lot of therapy to understand that what took place didn’t define me nor my self worth. @@NunTheWizerPod This type of therapy is a type of hypnosis. And the therapist helps you create a safe space in your mind, and you have to recreate the trauma in your mind. You basically relive it, confront it, and then they give you steps to heal emotionally. I tried 6 therapists and non of them offered this service (didn’t even know it existed at the time.) Until the last therapist that I found offered this service to me. It was God sent.
