    A little feedback about the video... I liked the information that you provided about the Blum hinges, and the detail that you provided about the construction of the bathroom cabinet. The overall length of the video seems to be a perfect for the information that you shared. The little bit of humor that you added was a nice touch. I enjoyed watching this video.

    I do not have a UA-cam channel, but I thought that I would offer some suggestions. I subscribed to your channel a few months ago, after learning that you were a retired industrial arts teacher. Many years ago, I had planned to become an industrial arts teacher, but changed course in college as several people told me that industrial arts programs were being phased out of schools. After college, I became a computer science and tech lab teacher. Tech lab was the then modern, "safe" industrial arts program that focused on STEM. I left teaching in schools 25+ years ago. I found that you had an interesting story to share about woodworking skills, which is why I subscribed to your channel. I believe that sticking to the twice a week video release schedule, with the videos essentially being a video diary of what you tried to do in and around your shop over the past three days may be limiting how quickly your channel grows. If you lean on your teaching skills more to share what you know in the videos, and condense the length of the videos a bit, I believe that you could expand your subscriber count, and the number of subscribers that actually watch your videos from end to end. For example, your "Chapter 17: Drawer Construction" video that I just watched has some very good nuggets of information, but it was likely four times as long as necessary for what was covered, and the speaking sound level was very low - you have fixed that sound problem. In the drawer construction video, you showed using a router to create box joints to build a drawer, and shared your struggles with using undermount drawer slides. Despite that video being 67 minutes long, the video did not show how to set the router's depth of cut, or how to set the location of the pin - maybe that was covered in a previous video. The video also did not fully cover how to use undermount drawer slides You possibly could have used the concept for the "Chapter 17: Drawer Construction" video to create a video series showing different ways to build drawers from start to finish. For example: * Butt joints using pocket hole screws (I have never used this method, but you mentioned it in the video, and I have seen other UA-camrs use this approach) * Dominos or dowels to pin a drawer box created with butt joints * Rabbet joints, which you mentioned in the video * Box joints cut at a router table * Box joints cut at a table saw (I created a box joint jig based on one shown in an Ask This Old House episode) * Box joints cut using a dovetail jig (I believe that my old Porter Cable Omnijigs have box joint templates, and the various Leigh jigs likely do also) * Box joints cut with a PantoRouter (I own a metal PantoRouter, which offers a lot of joint possibilities, but there are also plans for a wooden version) * Lock miter joints cut with a lock miter router bit * 1/4, 1/4, 1/4 (or 1/2, 1/2, 1/2) joints cut at a table saw * Through dovetails and half-blind dovetails cut by hand * Through dovetails and half-blind dovetails cut with a dovetail jig * Through dovetails and half-blind dovetails cut with a PantoRouter (I used a PantoRouter to create a template for cutting half-blind dovetails on a PantoRouter, as the PantoRouter does not yet have a native way to cut half-blind dovetails) You could also do a series on proper use of various tools (whether that is the table saw, jointer, planer, or individual lathe tools), selecting the right species of wood for a project, and various other techniques that you likely taught in the classroom. "Woodworking With Gerry - Gerald Adams" (latest video ua-cam.com/video/gMxJIWOOluQ/v-deo.html is about building a large cabinet with a Murphy bed) is another currently small UA-cam channel that I started following when he had fewer than 25 subscribers, but his subscriber count has grown quite a bit over the last four months. His videos are a bit more scripted now than when he started, and I think that has helped him produce higher quality videos. He has developed a great teaching approach for woodworking, while he builds sample projects, or very complex real woodworking projects.

    Good to see that top getting cleaned up. One of my pet hates is a machine surface that has been neglected and allowed to rust up. Your timber will slide so much easier across the surface now. WD40 is a good lubricant to use when cleaning the surface and a short term protector but not good as a rust preventative long term as it dries out quickly and then no longer protects. From what I read your Glidecote will be a good protector but as you say, it's getting pretty expensive. I use equivalents of WD40 if the surface is not going to be used for up to a month but I use Inox for longer term protection. The Inox needs to be wiped off before machine use as it is quite oily, but doesn't dry out. Look forward to your shop cleanup.

    Have you put a straight edge on the top to see if you have taken it visibly out of flat? My saw has been sitting in the salt air of the coast side, at least they are in a garage. I’m toying with the idea of using a set of 7” polishing pads I previously used to polish some concrete.

    The topic is cleaning the top, but the rambling in the beginning puts a lot of people off your video. The camera position in the back results in what you are doing being obscured, so that is a big issue if viewers can not view.

      Hey, thanks for the comment. I appreciate feedback that can help me improve voiced in an analytical manner. You are correct. Since I do all these videos unscripted, I can tend to wander a bit with my introductions. I need to always get to the point quickly. The camera placement I caught in editing, but was not interested in reshooting the segment so I just went for it. Again, thanks for the constructive way that you analyzed my video. Hello sir, Just stumbled across this video and your channel and I am enjoying it. That is a very nice saw. I love the older Delta scrollsaw. I actually have had two of those and I passed them on to other people to help them get started. I currently have six Delta scrollsaws and numerous other ones, as I use them for teaching kids in our youth group and in schools now and then. I have been woodworking and scrollsawing for over 30 years but I still consider myself an amateur. There are so many great deals on marketplace for used older scrollsaws. I like them much better than any of the new ones. I've never traveled more than 30 minutes to get a scrollsaw and get great deals, but it looks like that one was worth the drive. I really like the Delta blade holders. The Delta scrollsaws are my favorite and I like the older Delta tools in general. I am looking for an older Delta table saw currently. I have numerous videos on my channel also about scroll sawing and woodworking in general if your bored lol. I love to teach but I also love to learn and I'll never stop. Again, great video and I will be watching more. Have a wonderful Christmas season! Marty from Minnesota, USA.🙂

      Thanks for the wonderful comment. I share your love of older Delta tools. It is unfortunate that they are no longer available. As a former shop teacher, I also love showing young kids how to scroll saw, wood turn and other woodworking skills. While I have taught students how to use the scroll saw for years, my own skill level is not where I would like it to be. There will be more scroll saw content on my channel for sure. I checked out your channel and have subscribed. I am looking forward to viewing your older videos and look forward to your new video creations. May you and your family have a wonderful Christmas season as well. Glen from Saskatchewan Canada.

      @RLDRCustomCreations-zd4zj Thank you sir! The older scrollsaws including Delta's are still available all over in the U.S. There are many for sale real cheap close to where I live. I pick them up now and then and fix them like new for teaching. I am a truckdriver, but my heart is teaching and so I do it whenever I have the chance. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.🙂

    I used X-Acto knives for years making art cards and mattes for broadcast graphics. Not once did I think they could be sharpened… they were treated as just another consumable. I’ve got a 360 and a 600 CBN wheel that are gathering dust cause my son was going to make knives… maybe those and a leather strop would work for my X-Acto blades… I like your system though… sure is a lot cheaper than 2 CBN wheels 😂! I did have some concern with the water from your 400 grit wheel so close to the open motor. (Electricity terrifies me!) Thanks Glenn. Great video.

    • @RLDRCustomCreations-zd4zj
      @RLDRCustomCreations-zd4zj Місяць тому

      Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I bet those CBN wheels would work just fine if you can slow them down. I also thought of those blades as consumables, but Randy Letkeman showed me a trick to sharpen them and then I made this sharpener and realized that I could drastically improve the sharpness of an original new blade. So cheaper and better! I never thought about the water and the open motor. I am using very little water, but that is a good point that you have. Perhaps aluminum tape over the open holes? That might be the solution. Thanks again for your continued support. It means a lot to me.
