Great time at the Harford Fair. The demolition derby is like the bullfight of the Appalachian Mountains. The Harford Fair has been around since 1858. That's called tradition.

Now that's a great find, gonna admit. 👍
Thank you. Please grace me with a like. I'm trying to get out of the algorithm basement LOL
@@shangrila73eldorado All done👍
2009 was a tough year. I had lost my dream job. Went back to living with my mom. And couldn't find work. I was so depressed but also so young..... If I could go back, despite all that, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Wish I was there
I love how people are treating this like it's old but like this was two days after I turned three I was already alive ffs 😭
Ha! The commentators totally missed Eisa's cutting across lanes right at the beginning! (later dqued)
No kidding? Check the video description.
AWESOME JOB!!!!!!!
I tried. Thank you for your compliment. Can you tell me some artists and vocations that are known to invoke duende? I mentioned blues singers, gypsy performers. Perhaps opera singers, ballet dancers also conjure up duende....who else?

So that’s a turkey 👍👍👍 Cute 👍👍👍
Do they have turks in Asia?
@@shangrila73eldorado i I think I have seen some similar but I don’t know if they are turkey.
@@Twiggy_Wild I love turkeys. They can fly for short distances and hang out in trees. They make wild bird noises at night and they taste good too.
@@shangrila73eldorado I’m surprised they can fly a bit.
John Kennedy Toole was my mom's English professor; she was a student of his when he died. By coincidence, she was also roommates with Walker Percy's daughter at the same time.
It would be cool to hear your mom's recollections of that time when he died. Was he a popular teacher? What did she think of him as an educator? Any funny anecdotes?
@@shangrila73eldorado Well, my mom's sadly no long with us, but she told me about him a few times. I was 11, iirc, when Confederacy of Dunces came out, and it was a huge sensation here in New Orleans and the area. My mom was amazed: "Oh my God, that's Dr. Toole!" (as he was known to the students, though he never completed his PhD). I don't have a lot of specific info or anecdotes, unfortunately. She was a student at Dominican College when it was still a women's college, before it merged with/was bought by Loyola, and she was in JKT's English class. She described him as very dapper, obviously taking great care with his clothes and personal appearance. She said he was a gifted lecturer with an obvious passion for English literature, which made his class very popular. She even mentioned a couple of classmates having crushes on him. Then, sadly, he had a progressive mental breakdown, becoming increasingly disheveled and paranoid. I've read that it affected his lectures and that students complained, but my mom never mentioned any of that (maybe she didn't want to speak ill of the dead). She said he suddenly went on leave then shortly after they all heard the news of his death, which of course was greeted with an outpouring of grief. I always envied my mom having been a college student in New Orleans in the 60s, it must have been an amazing time. She also lived for a while in the same apartment building as Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner's character in JFK). Her verdict: he was kind of a nut, lol.
Happy dogs were running happily 😊 When does the spring start over there? Here it still feels like winter.
Officially spring starts in March...but it has been a warm winter here in NYC and the flowers are already starting to grow

Not one tent on a sidewalk.
You should do another tour, just to see how much has changed.
has it changed much in 13 years? an update would be good?
There are a lot more homeless. In 2009 the problem was isolated to skid row and Venice Beach but it has spread. Next time I go to LA I will try to make an update. :)
wow alot less homeless for sure!
luis the poet, thank you for this tour, but please do not quit your day job.

I haven’t visited Shenzhen long enough to have time for such a view. I know by eyes the view is much better. A video can’t capture its beauty enough 🌠
