I go on adventures in my own backyard, so to speak, traveling around the region looking at abandoned buildings, tourist sites, and anything that catches my eye. I'm into architecture, museums, historic places, and anything odd, weird, or unusual.
I'm a public historian and have a Master's in cultural development. I am also a published writer and the author of October Jones: The Lightning Pines Mystery (Wild Dreams Publishing, 2017).

Brr, it's cold out! This time I take a food adventure tasting and cooking with brown rice syrup with a vegan Orange Polenta Cake recipe and taste test. I haven't seen her since I made this video. You should check in with the folks at Valley Artisans Market in Cambridge. She sells (or used to sell) her work there, and she used to volunteer there.

Since my last posting I have made miles of ash splints. I also did a mini pack basket as an experiment. I lost my pack basket in a fire and was researching how to make another one. This video and others like it inspired me to give this art form a try. I'm also building a pounding machine to aid in the production of splints. I don't mind pounding by hand but hope to supply other artists and possibly make paskets for commercial uses. Plastics days are numbered. It's killing the planet.
Beautiful work. I'm new to basketry and whenever I see any basket now i'm amazed at how much work is involved. I'm also amazed at how under valued most are. I understand the economics of it , but it makes me sad that such great artisans are so under valued. I hope this artist got a hundred dollars for that basket ( at least ). It looked like several days of exacting work. Very nice. learned a lot, thanks
