❤
I have a septate hymen myself. I have managed to work around using tampons, etc, and have only just had a thought about something. My first smear test was painful and uncomfortable for me, and I do wonder if my hymen was also the issue as to why it was that bad. Being the fact it was my first smear could also be why, but I am wondering. They did thankfully get a sample, but I don't want to experience the same pain next time. So I am wondering what I should do. To leave that area of me alone, or go get it fixed?
It’s ultimately up to you- I will say that I got a Pap smear about a year after my surgery and experienced no pain at all! If you haven’t already, it may be a good idea to make an appointment to get it checked out and you can get your doctor’s opinion on whether or not to have the surgery. Mine wasn’t a super severe case, but my doctor recommended the surgery due to the vascular and sensitive nature of the tissue. Hopefully that’s helpful! 🫶🏻
@Knowyourcyclenow Thank you for your reply and sharing your experience! I appreciate it. 🙏🏻
Lydia I love your video!
Thank you for sharing your experience!!
If you please what is a hymenenectomy surgery ? and what is it for?
Its all about the $$$$ I do not trust doctors these days.
Doctors are paid. They are paid to make certain decisions on stuff like that. They don’t care about actually helping people. If they cure you you wouldn’t go back.
You can now use FSA funds to purchase it via FSA store. That’s what I did. $300 is a small price to pay compared to the cost of pregnancy and childbirth.
I have an appointment at my gynaecologist about this on Friday. Thankyou so much for helping me know what to expect
@@kaitlynm5218 I’m SO happy to help 💗 I hope your appointment goes well!!
Guys I’m in school and I started my period what do I do
I was just trying to get a primary care provider. The doctor was male. Im 33 and know that i have risk for a few things medically. Doctor only saw my weight which is not terrible but could tone up if i wasnt exhausted from working all the time. Female with an insulin resistant mother, a higher chance for pcos due to Hispanic heritage. Doctor was making comments of cutting out sugars and fatty foods. I let him know that i cannot switch to diet drinks and such products because my body has migraines due to aspartame. He just looked at me and basically said you can't just say you cant change your diet and have a come back for everything i say kind of attitude. Needless to say i did not go back. If the doctor wont acknowledge when you say i get bedridden with a migraine due to this sugar alternative thats in most "healthy" foods like yogurts and diet drinks even the zeros they dont need to be practicing medicine for females.
Such a important skill to master 😉 thanks for sharing and have a good day ❤❤
Why do you keep track of your period?
Great question!! I track my cycle to help me figure out what is going on. I have had heavy and painful periods for years, as well as a lot of breast tenderness leading up to my periods. My cycle tracking helped me figure out I have high prolactin and low progesterone. I’m doing things to improve these levels and continuing to track my cycles so I can see improvements 🫶🏻 I hope that helps! I create a lot of videos on cycle health related things and I also have an entire video explaining why and how I track my cycles 😊

Hey, I'm planing to get septate hymen surgery soon and I'm a bit curious - did you get stitches after your procedure? I'm trying to prepare myself for what to expect. Thanks! 💕

And this is why men should NEVER be OB/GYN doctors. EVER. Go tell guys to turn their heads and cough and be happy with that. That's all your brain can handle sweetie. It's okay. Not every doctor can be useful.
I went through 2 or 3 months of not only having a really heavy period but a period lasting for like 10 days and being in pain for about 8 days of that and almost bed ridden... Kept being told it was normal... Luckily I found a gynaecologist that could tell me different. So I can kinda relate.
Ah yes! That happened to me. I explained all my symptoms to my doctor who just said as their response "well that's just pregnancy hun!" And then sent me on my way. I was literally begging her for help. Turns out, I had severe early onset pre-eclampsia and I literally almost died (had multiple organs shutting down) and was hours away at best from having a stroke when they caught it. My baby died. She actually didn't have to because at the time when I went to my doctor and cried to her, all she had to do was what they've been doing since the 1980s was check my blood pressure and then treat it. 🎉
@@brightonuprach oh my goodness I am so sorry!! That shouldn’t have happened, that is devastating 💛
Women's health is no more dismissed than men's health.
Why do you say that?
Been here! It was a female dr as well!! I finally found a good gyno who listened! Found all kinds of hidden issues by running bloodtests NO OTHER dr thought to run!! My Hysterectomy is in 22 days!! ❤️🖤
So so glad you found a good gyno!!
I lost my period for 3 months and have uneven cycle since forever when i got to doctor she was a female doctor she asked me if i for my period again? I said yes but after 3 months and she said then what's the issue and that's it
I had my period for SIX MONTHS STRAIGHT as a 12 year old, got told it was normal hormonal imbalance and puberty, and put on hormonal birth control. Diagnosed with PCOS as a 21 year old. It’s just insane
I went to the hospital when i felt like my appendix was rupturing as well, the male doctor told me im probably just constipated and i looked him dead in the eyes and said i promise you right now im not and if you don't believe me I'll shit right here to prove im not. Not long after, I got a ct scan, and it ended up being that I've got ovarian cysts and one ruptured. Sometimes, you just gotta be a bit unhinged for them to take you seriously 😂 ive had one more rupture after that, but I didn't even bother going to the hospital.
Oh my goodness I love that response 😂
Dr’s wonder why we do our own research.
And yet it was just your periods…. Not sure of your reason to post here?
It was not just my periods 🫶🏻 that was my reason for posting. It’s never “just your period”. When a woman is experiencing something like this it is indicating something is wrong
Fun fact: I did actually have a ruptured appendix.. my pain was the same as I'd had a few times before where I went to the doc but got sent away.. still decided to ride the bus to urgent care and felt like a fraud, although I had high fever this time along with the pain.. welp, they cut me up, and my appendix was ruptured and I had peritonitis.. and also they saw I had endometriosis.. so THAT'S where the pain was coming from haha (ofc "just period pain" yeah..)
I feel you. My dad is an OB/GYN and almost took me to the emergency room because of period pain (thought it might be a ruptured appendix). It must have been awful being dismissed.
While there are many brilliant male gynaecologists out there…I think it would be beneficial for all women if they’re Dr understood the patient through lived experience not just professional & academic. Only female Drs have experienced periods and will better understand what is and isn’t normal. Being mansplained how your body works by someone who cannot even relate your experience is frustrating.
Lol told me for 17 years it was just women issues. Colon cancer. Lol stage 3 ...... And when I started having problems whe I was 16..... probably could have been caught if I was a male. Now I might need to sh*t into a bag for the rest of my life ..... if I have a rest of my life. BTW. Only way I found this out..... is because by bf said I wasn't faking and I need a scan. I waited 17 years for a colonoscoply. BEGGING. my mom had colon cancer at 39, stage 4.... Only reason I got the care I needed... after 17 years of begging........ my bf, a male..... just said I needed it. The doctors didn't hesitate. They were like, " oh! OK! Np!" F*ck the med system
That enrages me. I am so sorry you are experiencing that. It is unacceptable and the fact that there are so many who go through similar things (myself included) is hard to wrap my mind around. It’s just laziness on the part of the medical profession. It’s not like there’s some crazy reason. They just aren’t willing to do the work. I am glad at the very least you have your boyfriend’s support, but I’m disgusted that they listened to him over you.
Not a doctor but I worked with an amazing gyno and please do not ignore these things- abnormal pain and bleeding can have treatments whether that’s you have fibroids or going on a form of birth control. Also if you have excessive bleeding it’s important to get regular blood work cause you might need iron supplements or iron infusions. Trust yourself and your body.
Pinning this because this is my goal with this channel! Don’t ignore your symptoms even if your doctor does 🫶🏻
I was going through an ovarian torsion after a cyst rupture and the doctors told me I was having an anxiety attack. Drove myself to another hospital where they did an ultrasound, admitted me immediately and prepped me for surgery. Two years later, went to the ER with horrific pain to be told I was having another anxiety attack. AGAIN drove myself to another hospital where I was in a CT scanner within 20 minutes and diagnosed with severe diverticulitis and was hospitalized for a full week NPO. The number of times I’ve been dismissed as having anxiety when I was in fact having a potentially life threatening condition is insane. These are not the only two incidents either, just most notable.
That is WILD!!
Womens health is 200 years behind all medicine. HYSTERIA was added to the medical journals around the 1880s and not removed until the 1980s
I find it absolutely BAFFLING that doctors are so quick to dismiss women's pain when we've been having periods since like middle school. We know when something isnt normal for us. Please take us seriously 🙄 at the very least humor us and do a thorough examination before writing it off as just a period
And one of these doctors are not trying to be dismissive, but rather don’t know how to help us because there’s no care necessarily… I have found this really good Supplement though. It is BobbyApproved and it helps.
Cure
Where did you find the information about the progesterone?
I had my progesterone levels checked 7 days after ovulation. I also have a borderline short luteal phase and cervical fluid patterns that are consistent with sub-optimal progesterone levels 🫶🏻 I posted a video about a week ago where I talk about what I’m doing to increase my progesterone 💛
Where did you find the information about the progesterone?
My periods are super weird after baby, cycles are anywhere from 8 to 52 days. I also have worse pcos, a uterine prolapse, and take bc all while I'm breastfeeding. I'm 2 years pp now and finally weaning. I'm a total mess and rely on my own research. I once had such bad fatigue, poor appetite and chronic fatigue, my doctor insisted I was just depressed and after fighting her, my blood test showed I was in a huge inflammation flare up and I had RA. So.. regular issues as a woman AND reproductive issues, not a lot of help.
Chronic pain*
😭 Other things, not period problems
Laying an egg 😂😅
I have endometriosis, everything is being dismissed 😬
3 months after having my son I got horrible pain that I could only described as contractions but I could feel cramps specially on one side but I was out of breath, bend over by the pain, couldn’t use my legs, sweating and just felt like someone was reaching w their hand and pulling and twisting my insides. I had to go to the ER and run test CT scan and nothing 😑😑😑
That’s crazy cuz how many periods did that male doctor experience in his life versus the woman? Crazy crazy he has no idea what he’s talking about
I had an INSANE pain in my lower abdomen when i was in middle school. They didnt figure out what was wrong at the time but Im positive I had a cyst burst. They made me feel dramatic after that ER visit. Absolutely vial.
@@SpiritualityofScience I’m pretty sure mine was a cyst rupturing as well. Worst pain of my life; when will doctors stop believing we are just being dramatic?? 🫶🏻
@Knowyourcyclenow it's awful! I actually had another incident about 5 years later when I had 9 cysts just floating around causing trouble. I didn't go to the doctor until I literally could no longer stand or walk without assistance. I thought I had a low pain tolerance. I had almost ruptured my colon due to the cysts causing a blockage. The doctor couldn't believe I had made it that long without going to the ER. Luckily my mom had some issues previously that looked similar (a fibroid they thought was cancerous but luckily it wasn't). I had to go through emergency surgery to remove the ball of 9 cysts. It was awful and shocking. I actually have Ehler's Danlos Syndrome and Fibromyalgia so turns out I have extremely high pain threshold. The gaslighting in the medical field is abhorrent. Women in particular are ignored and it's killing us :(
I am so tired of the narrative that says it's normal for periods to be extremely painful because it's not!! So sorry you went through all of that ❤
Thank you for thinking fast on your feet and advocating for yourself and saving your life as a result. As someone who has been dismissed a few times in life threatening situations I know how disheartening it feels when you know something is terribly wrong with but are not taken seriously.
Yep I used to fill pads within 30-45 minutes or tampons for weeks at a times. Pass clots and have it for weeks at a time not a single done and I'm on birth control and I won't get off because it's a nightmare
Did you know this about endometriosis??
I've had really heavy periods all my life since the age of 11 and I'm almost 42 and still having them, only last year was I given medication to help them it's unbelievable how our symptoms are dismissed so easily....... And so many women suffer in silence xx
@@nickymurray4456 Thank you so much for sharing your story 🫶🏻 My goal is to raise awareness on this topic to hopefully change this for the next generation. I don’t want to see a single woman getting her symptoms dismissed 💛
@@Knowyourcyclenowthank you for raising awareness about this your amazing, xx
