Check it out you might be surpised! The bass trim pot is all the way down on the Shanks and saturation is at 1:00. To get the Belle to closer match the Shanks I had set the compession clipping switch on it's side to the out position (more open sounding). I am still a green thumb at this so a thumbs up (or down lol) goes a long way, even better hit the subcribe button if you want me to make more...

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the Road Worn Telecaster, and details about your signal chain. As of late 2023, it doesn't look like Fender is selling Road Worn Tele's anymore, but I was able to buy a 2022. If you're into the Telecaster vibe, it's a steal of a deal. Awesome tone. Vintage neck and good hardware throughout. Nitro-cellulose finish... are you kidding me! You almost have to look twice to see the relic treatment, but that subtlety just adds cachet imo. Fender has emulated, in a faithful way, a vintage Fender guitar that currently sells for more than US$100,000. Only one in a million will ever own one of the originals, but for the rest of us, this is a really good option.

  • @aevans692

    I have one of these, I have made a few changes on mine too .. but ive never had much love for the neck I feel that is where the guitar falls short .. the body had some type of sheen over it guessing it was part of the relic-ing , I used my buffer and cleaned it off and polished it up which gave it a better finished ..

    The Vinteras are great guitars.Just for the record though the Alder isn't vintage correct for a blonde 1950s Tele...those were always Ash.In fact all blonde Teles and Strats were Ash into the 1960s.Alder was introduced in later 1956 for the sunburst Strats and the custom color ones.Most Teles were blonde so therefore Ash.The Telecaster custom with the binding was the first Alder spec Tele introduced in 1959 and it was sunburst(unless a custom order occured).The older Road Worn Teles of the 2010s were made of Ash but now due to Fender's very limited use of Ash they went with Alder for this 1950s Vintera Tele...not vintage correct but still a very nice guitar!

    Cool guitar and the specs are pretty amazing for the money. I saw one in Sonic Blue a couple of weeks ago and I knew I had to have it. I loved (almost) everything about it. The only thing I asked for was a set of Wilkinson compensated brass saddles and another thing I want to do is to have a qualified person to replace the plastic nut for a bone nut. Besides that, I'm extatic of joy. The pickups sound amazing to me. I compared them to lots of other pickups (on UA-cam, so not in real life), but everytime I thought these pickups sounded better than the expensive 'boutique pickups'. A set of Lollars came close. They seemed to be a little more lifely, but after two or three notes I couldn't tell the difference anymore. So I'll stick with the original pickups. Maybe one day I'll go for a Custom Shop Telecaster, but I doubt I ever will. 😎❤️

    I have one of these vintera worn 50’s in lake placid blue as well as a 60’s vintera worn 60’s strat. Love them. But both had issues big time with fret sprout d/t the neck basically being bare wood. Very susceptible to humidity changes. Had to do all the fret ends on both and seal the neck with some boiled linseed oil. Buffed up with 15000 grit micro mesh after a few coats. Now both necks are very stable and I love the tele. The u neck is perfect with the 7.25” radius. The strat is thin C and I hate the 7.25” with that thin of a neck. But the tele is a keeper. Pickups are good. I did swap mine for a nocaster bridge and twisted tele neck like danish pete’s purple tele. But just be away of how raw/bare these reliced necks are.

    • @martone6852
      @martone6852 2 роки тому

      Hey Andy, thanks for sharing they really are nice guitars. I have the 60's strat too and the 70's tele, no issue with fret sprout but probably depends where you live. What type of climate are you in? I found a little extra fine sandpaper on the standard neck really took them too the next level, only needed 5 or 6 passes each and made a massive difference; that was just 400 grit too but still much smoother. Really want to try some twisted teles one day but hesitant to change the 50's tele set, they just sound right to me What difference did you find between the vintera pups and the tt's? Also what is different about the nocaster bridge?

    • @andyblakely7576
      @andyblakely7576 2 роки тому

      @@martone6852 hey, I’m m in the Midwest. Humid summers and dry winters. Yeah I sealed my necks and buffed them upto 15000 grit. Best feeling neck next to my roasted evh Wolfgang that I’ve had my hands on. The nocaster bridge is just warmer and fatter than the vintera. The vintera set is really good tbh. No need to change. But I fell on a mixed set of fender custom shop pickups and wanted to use them. You can’t buy the set I have. You would have to buy the nocaster set and the twisted tele set to get the nocaster bridge and twisted tele neck. The twisted tele neck pickup is really good….the bridge from that set not so much. Really wish fender made a custom shop nocaster/twisted tele bridge/neck set. Look up some of Anderton’s videos with danish Pete’s purple CS tele. Great example of these pickups. Honestly, I felt the vintera neck was pretty dark. The bridge was great. Main reason I switched was the neck. Figured I would put the nocaster in while I was changing the neck.

    Hey hey. Commenting from BC Canada. I’m a dyed in the wool Tele guy - 5 of them in my electric stable of 10 guitars. I was so close to buying one of these! Great value! But I controlled myself - lol. But just last week, I brought home a Fender Japan JV 50’s Modified Telecaster! An amazing guitar! Satin finish, soft V neck carve, 50’s voiced alnico p/u’s and a 4 way switch with a push/pull on the tone for out of phase tones in 2 positions. A VERY traditional 50’s Tele with super cool wiring yielding 6 unique tones! I’m super happy! Gotta love them “T’s” (I’m NOT a relicing fan, at all, but the Vintera’s are quite well done. Disappointing screw issues, though!)

    Very nice review! Reminded me of why Reverends are my favourite guitars (I bought 6 over the past 4 years) and at the same time why I don't like their stock PUs (Railhammers included). Joe Naylor just seems to be into slightly overwinding and spikey attacks. In your comparison for instance I hear sweeter harmonics, a slightly softer attack and a more homogeneous sound overall in every guitar compared to the Jetstream. It's almost like there's a (cheap) buffer in the signal chain everytime I hear the Reverend. Any way. Keep up the good work!

    • @martone6852
      @martone6852 2 роки тому

      Thanks, I will have to take a listen again and try zone in on the attack. Faster players might like a sharper edge on the notes so it is probably down to the persons musical and playing style. I liken it to the different string tensions on a top loader or string thru tele bridge, some like the blurred attack of the top loader others prefer the little bit of extra attack and sustain on the string thru. So did you swap out any of your pups if so what did you choose?

    • @allatsea2746
      @allatsea2746 2 роки тому

      @@martone6852 It always comes down to personal preferences of course. And it's also pretty subtle. But I had a really hard time recording with the stock PUs; even with ribbon mics. I mean a lot of people are talking about "cutting through the mix" nowadays, but in my world, if an arrangement works, it's more about making everything - including the guitar - PART of the mix. For the last 2 years my main guitar has been a Trickshot with Lollar 52 Ts (Alnico 2s) and a Seymour Duncan SM-1 mini humbucker in the middle position. The former BC-knob is now a volume knob for the Seymour Duncan. (And I added a Trem King TK-2 to it, but that's another story ;-) ...)
