I disappear into games for escapism but I also have a bad habit of that taking over and becoming more like an addiction than anything. Usually this happens when I'm struggling with untreated depression.

Focusing is great (it shifts a bit when the cat throws something into the frame). Since you don't move much, I would recommend switching to manual focus. Set it and forget it. Any horizontal movement will still be in focus, but if you approach the camera, it will be blurry. That's fine, because most people expect that to happen.

The 5th movie was originally 3 hours long, but the studio asked them to cut it down to 2 hours, and they ended up with 2 1/4 hours in the final cut.

In the 4th movie, you also have to remember that Moody is NOT Moody. The real Moody is in the chest, it's Barty Crouch Jr. using the polyjuice potion. So what he says is filtered through that lens. He doesn't really know any of those characters he's referencing.

There is annoying ret-conning in Harry Potter, but the time turner isn't really one of them. Just because they don't tell you something doesn't mean it didn't happen. If Hermione loses the time turner because she used it at the end of the 3rd book/movie to help Sirius break out, that likely happened off-screen anyway. That isn't a fault of storytelling or the movie, it's just how it occurs in normal life where things happen when you aren't around to see them. They went on break and she was most likely not allowed to take the time turner with her, and they just didn't give it to her again. 🤷

The curses in Harry Potter will only work if the person means it. That's referenced in the fifth movie by Voldemort. Spells come from the person's inner self so if they are a good person, they cannot cast those curses. But since people are both good and bad, the spells are stronger based on the person casting it. Sort of "dark side" vs "light side" of Star Wars. You can shift in one direction. Harry talks about worrying that he's becoming bad.

The one frustration on I-15 I experienced a lot is when people would freak out going northbound and swerve because they think they are leaving I-15 where the road diverges and dumps out to 2100 S, 1300 S, 900 S. Randomness is real, IMO, only because you can't know all the variables that are going to affect some result. Is the awareness of the possible variable going to determine the result, or are you just guessing? If you drop a rock down a hill, there are an infinite number of variables that could impact the rock's descent. You might be able to calculate a guess because on each data point, but it's basically calculus at that stage and you have a near-infinite number of possibilities for each point all spiraling out from the previous data point. Maybe calling it randomness is not the right term -- unpredictability?
