William Crozier Seize the Flow'r Exhibition Feature Film
Переглядів 3442 роки тому
Returning from a visit to New York in 1979, William Crozier had a rush of creative energy. Newly confident in his European identity and inspired by art of the past, he produced a cycle of still life work. This art is by turns mesmeric and effulgent, pulsing with the memory of both Chardin and Picasso. It was a transformative moment for Crozier, marking the transition from the earlier angst-ridd...

I would have liked to have seen this exhibition.
Proud to have this man in my family tree
Great. Very quiet work. Calm.
😍

So rich with wisdom. I could listen to them talk for hours
Brilliant art, for a Serial Killer!...
This is wonderful, thank you very much
A pesar de ser un estilo, que no consumo, me pareció una exhibición brillante con un colorido audaz y amable, mis felicitaciones por tan buena muestra que llega a emocionar.
Preferirei vedere solo la opere senza i commenti.
My favorite artist.
I am a Sickert enthusiast but pictures here I had not seen before. Many thanks.
rest in peice @chrisqboyd
He pulled her off the bus 😢 and told her she belonged to him. Oh Jean. Imagine the life she had with him. Wow.
Great art ? REALLY ? FFS these " experts " are hilarious !
The Dogs?
I came here after seeing the George rowlett self portrait ,
I find awerbachs paintings having more dynamic not to say that I don't like kosof
Wonderful sharing! Amazing work about art! So much peaceful video!
can i do a submission from Kenya?
Absolutely amazing.
Thank you-- so beautiful!!
I want to enter 2022!!!
Brilliant exhibition many thanks
For me (these things are very subjective), the most interesting British artist since Constable, Turner and Blake.
I really find it funny seeing expert judges make fools of themselves as they downgrade a once wonderful piece of art history with choices that put most people off going to Art galleries.. It is virus which seems to affect Art critics who have a desire to kill the art industry Enough said
Bless her. I knew Jean & her mother back in 1967-70,when her mother lived in Dartmouth Row,not far from me and my family. I was invited by her mother, to have tea, see the garden and her studio :) I made friends with Jean's son,Jason Bratby. We were 8 years old and used to run around the bombed-out houses in Lewisham Hill! He later came to my secondary school and joined my O-Level Art class. Jason & I knew eachother again from 1975,but lost contact over the next few years. I remained friendly with his mother, Jean Cooke, and we used to often cross paths at exhibitions,or when her 4-seater Morgan ran out of petrol, and we'd all push it or go collect the petrol! In the later years she'd be riding her bike across Blackheath. Jean & John divorced, and John used to live in his studio above the garage! I'd often visit them, but see nothing of John. He was quite mad and hid himself away. Wonder what happened to Jason! So sad I didn't get to see you much after I left to live in France! Fond memories of you & your mum
So rare to see Sister Wendy speaking with a living artist. She looks so happy to be talking about art and religion with someone who had so much in common with her.
Wouldnt it be wonderful to reward many more than one as she did
very..nice
Thanks to Piano Nobile for this inspirational video and congratulations to all the artists who participated. 👏🏻👏🏻
Really moved by the winning portrait, raw and yet tender and accepting, Fantastic seeing winners humble reaction, and well deserved as she paints portraits regularly, she knows herself well. Brilliant
Highly encouraging for anyone watching and it demonstrates how one woman can benefit so many. Would that I could do at least a sliver of what she achieved.
Interesting pieces of true art. Thank you for introduce Leon Kossoff to me👍🙂
Really nice step.
Loved the winning portrait - such vulnerability and adventure!
Just from the brief glimpses I was immediately struck by the winner's painting. Bold ,uncompromising, brave, and, it turned out, so much the artist.
wonderful painting lucy
Just beautiful to see William again.
So very pleased for the winner. Initially I had no idea she had a disability. I just thought the painting looked the most brutally frank and honest. No symbolism, no gimmicks.
Wanderful I want to exhibit. How can I?
?
Oh my God,, what a cracked canvas.. Do not use canvas! It moves always. Use Masonite or oil board
Great initiative. Many takes of a portrait. The judges must have had hard time deciding the winner.
What a fascinating collection and film! I knew John Bratby late in his life. Quite a character!
I really loved this!
I spy Frank Auerbach in this video. Glad to see Kossoff on here. I hope there will be a major retrospective soon.
The two artists have been friends for a long time and have influenced each other’s works.
and Timothy Hyman, and George Rowlett, talking to Auerbach at 6.00. George had a minor part in Blow-up in 1966, when he was a painting student at the RA schools. You can see him in the tennis court scene.
Hello, Jean. You may not remember but you drew my dad and his (Ex) girlfriend. He was called Mario Giannini
Hi! I'm a History of Art undergraduate at Oxford University and doing an extended essay on Jean Cooke and John Bratby, could I possibly contact you via email if you still have access to the drawing or to any qualitative information surrounding that portrait exchange you or your family may have? . . - Izzy Walter
@@isabelwalter791 Hello. Did you not ever receive a reply, please ? And, do you know of the claim that it was Bratby who painted the ' works ' of Tony Hancock, in 1961 film ' The Rebel ', please ?. Thank you.
Hi my name is Wendy Bratby
Is your mother Jean Cooke? If so I was at the exhibition at the Jerwood Hastings, where I live. I was very touched by the show and so glad that her work is being seen and admired. Wonderful talk by you and your brother.
Dousing for pictures!
