My first vehicle was an 86 just like this one that I bought used in 88 just before I graduated from high school. It was a great little truck and I would love to have one again !
You're lucky that bed was savable , Most Toyota's from that Era are ravaged with rusty beds . It's funny that I have an 82 and a 86 I restored as well . keep up the good work.
I can't believe how well that turned out for a "garage" restoration. I might be a little late to the party, but I was hoping you could help me out with some links to where you got the replacement seals and the new grille and chrome bumper? I have an 86 pickup I'm going to start restoring that used to be my dad's. I remember faintly the day he bought it and he recently passed, so this is going to be a special project for me. Thank you for sharing!
Hello, I found lots of the interior parts by scouring a local junk yard. Found the grill and other parts like that online.
Love seeing vids of old cars being resurrected, and you nailed this one!
I like this car with original tyres love from india
To procurando essa capota que vender mi liga
❤❤❤
Nice pickup truck
Great video very nice work. I have a 1986 long box 2wd version 5 speed. Did you have the chrome windshield trim or did you have to buy it from a supplier? I need the 8 plastic trim pieces and the clips that go into the windshield seal to hold the plastic chrome pieces. If you did buy the pieces where from?
The usual big TOYOTA decal in the back should put cherry on top such an amazing work done!! You guys did it right. I have seen most just do third class jobs. Even your wheels complement the OEM look. WOW!

Beautiful job, well done. I've just bought a 1988 2wd, with 3Y engine. The deck is not OEM, but wider and longer to fit full sheets of ply etc. Not sure how far I'm going to restore it, found after driving it there are engine problems. Fired the parts cannon at it, plugs, fuel filter, etc to no avail. Carburetor next. Thanks for the inspiration.
Did you get oem vent windows from other doors or buy the kits online?
Oem from a junkyard
Fantastic! Well done!
I had the 1988 model of this truck in this same exact wine-red color, before it was stolen from me. Bought it brand new in 1988. Mine was unique in that I had one of the few remaining 22R carburetor versions with a simple & easily replaceable mechanical fuel pump mounted next to the motor. Bought it brand new, as a 1/2ton 4-cyl rwd short-bed standard-cab base model, without a radio or rear bumper, in 1988 for $5,995 . [ Back then, all the cut-outs for the accessories like the radio, antenna, etc were there for you to install your own. Also auto-parts stores carried much more items then; tailored for specific vehicles newly out on the market. Much more people, back then, were do-it-yourselfers ( DIYs ) and loved it. Plus it was a learning experience for all; not to mention the money saved. ]
We’re did you got the front chrome bumper?
Mine was stolen. Perhaps it went to Mexico ?

How did you track down the original steering wheel? I want one.
Junkyard
Beautiful truck all it needs is the carpet behind the seats to be perfect
Nice job but the background music is awful. Comes in and comes out.

Amazing Job! I thoroughly enjoyed the video.

That is a perfect restoration and on a toyota hilux ute l live in Australia almost original l own a 1997 toyota hilux myself owned for three years and since l am retired l have done a bit of work on it to keep it going it has the ultra reliable 22R engine has done 430000kms on it l will never restore it to your standard l am trying to keep it as standard as possible but it is 95% original l notice your door cards not original but look good and you got the wheels spot on and you resprayed your hilux in the original colour very nice
Wow! great restoration! What's the story on the radio?
Retromanufacturing.com is where I found a new one that fit in the original slot
Incredible! Thanks for the video
Great looking truck! Nice job! I am restoring my 83 Toyota but cannot find a wire harness. Anyone know where I can find one that is in good condition?
