Hi, thanks for the question. No it is not normal for it to become worse, it was my stupidity that caused that. I removed to much mass at that spot. The problem with cast bronze is that there are so many impurities in it, so at times it might seem harder on a spot than on another, i guess this was a soft spot.Great question. Take care.👍

Hi there, i have read your query, but i cannot see why you can't do those light weights. I don't think a heavier shaft would solve your problem as the shaft is not what needs balancing, but the impellar, becauae you would need to imput the impellars details. I have done a video of me doing a 900 gram impeller. I dont know if your saw it. Hi Jody, thanks for watching and commenting. Painting an impeller after balancing,mmm, i would regard as purely aesthetic to be honest. There are specific paints one could use such as Belzona Epoxy paints which is good for anti corrosion, but that would be more for the volutes as impellers are regarded as a consumable. If an impeller is painted, which generally would be NS4 or something similar, then it would not really affect the balance of an impeller, as it would be spread/painted equally around on the surface, which means that the equal mass albeit really not much (microns) would be spread evenly across the surface, keeping the masses the same all over. Another thing, the materials that impellers are manufactured with, are generally anti corrosive, such as Phosphur Bronze, Stainless and Cast Iron, so no need for any paint as well. Hi Micheal, correct sir, that is exactly what it is. One get hot dip galvanising, which is a totally different procedure and the best for steel, but mainly used in the construction industry and the spray can version for instant domestic use. Thanks for the question. Take care.👍
