one thing to note, after AA 96, the NTSB recommended that the cargo door should be modified to make it really noticeable when the cargo door is not properly secured, and to add vents for pressure equalisation in the case of another cargo door blowout. But the NTSB didnt issue an airworthiness directive (basically requires manufacturers to correct an issue with the plane), because of a gentlemen's agreement between the NTSB and MD. then THY 981 happened MD is the reason why the DC-10 had a bad rep
Hate it? You are misinformed. It had issues but was genuinely liked by most. :3
It was hydraulic lines that were severed in the Sioux City crash. All three hydraulic lines ran right by the number 2 engine which had a castrophic, uncontained failure which sent fan blade parts out of the engine. One of these blades sliced through all three of the lines and they bled out. The crew was able to maintain some semblance of control by relying on the number 1 and 3 engines and lucked out there was a DC-10 instructor on board who joined the pilots in the cockpit to help them. The airliner crash landed in Sioux City and broke apart upon landing due to the speed and uncontrollable nature of the aircraft. One of the hardest parts of this tragedy, besides the death toll, was the fact that many of the passengers were children. The airliner had a promotion that day where when you purchased a ticket, children could fly for one penny. So there was an unusual amount of children for the packed flight. The fact that any of the passengers survived, let alone as many that did, was a true miracle.
It’s less than 737 last year alone lol
Yeah, it’s usually cheap & dangerous to live near the airport bc successful ppl can afford to live in a quieter area. If u choose (yes, choose.) to follow hard drugs, crime & gangs to ease pain and u use heritage as an excuse, then u will have more noise. predisposition does not make you a victim. it makes you a statistic. no one owes u or me anything.
I’m liking your videos! Make me wanna make more of an effort with my channel. Love it! Keep it coming! Speedbird Lara ✈️
It is hard to fly, has a high landing speed and high glide slope which means pilots really have to know what they are doing.
I’d rather be on a military jet accidentally landing at a general civilian airport, than be a general civilian accidentally landing at a military airport 😅 💯
Lived in Savannah for two years. Flew in and out. Never knew this 😲!
I can confirm that is a big plane that exists
That pilot is a STUD!
They recruit some of the best pilots in the country. As someone who was unlucky enough to need their service I can vouche that it was the smoothest flight, take off and landing I ever had......that also could of been cause of the drugs they gave me for my pain 😅
I don't know who told you that anybody hated the DC-10 anyone who piloted love flying it
Public: 😒 AvGeeks: 🤤
Today I landed in Geneva at 06:00 and 20 seconds
This is ATC, I have a phone number for you to call... 🤣 🤣 🤣
That doesn't sound real. 10 seconds? Probably more like 10 seconds after midnight but not only 10 seconds late. Why would you plan a flight for exactly midnight? You wouldn't.
It wasn’t 10 seconds late, it was an hour late the curfew has quite a lenient period where incoming flights still are allowed to land. They were simply to late to land period
Rest in peace they said.... WTF is this noise?????
the reason the Concorde crashed in 2000 was because of a puncture in the landing gear from a part that fell of a DC-10
That is the most impressive landing I’ve ever seen
fyp getting WAY. WAY. Too local
It can land their because they are designed with short runways in mind , gravel combat and all right ?
Who hates the DC-10? TE901 and AA191 were caused by the airlines not the plane
How in the H could he stop on that. Brembo brakes.
Us airlines have no compensation compared to european airlines 😂
Vegas has curfew I know because I’ve traveled from LA and had a layover in Vegas one night and we had to stay the entire night at the airport just walking around eating chips sleeping and I noticed out of the big picture windows near gate D there were no planes taking off the last plane had just taken off a 30 minutes ago so I stayed with my family until 7 o’clock and boarded the next flight. I was shocked that planes literally don’t run at night. That’s just need to be built somewhere where they can run all day and night. This is the downfall of certain things now we see the issues with air travel rather than train
Classic germany
Poor pilots. Highly professional with years in the service of their country and this is what they will be remembered for.
All over cali fires tho
@Abbiecheeseman your face is creepy
Imagine falling asleep on. Flight just to wake up 4-6hrs later on hollowed ground
Can we take a minute to realized that Richard survived 87 years? What a legend
I wouldn’t say people hate the DC-10 or the L1101 lock head they were pretty solid in our way better than the planes today having bars and lounges all throughout the plane a cool plane for 70s
That big 3 engine plane that's putting out the fires in California. It's a dc10
Lived in Georgia my whole life and never knew this...
While stationed at Ft Hood, we were told of a family cemetery near Royalty Ridge on West Range Rd. The cemetery is supposedly in the impact area of a tank range.
Very sweet that they're still allowed to visit
When I was working at Norman Manley Airport early 90s ,one had to land 15 minutes after take off because of one of these doors .
I like it
W dc10
ATC: “we’ve got a number for you to call, hang on a sec”
My favorite bit of lore regarding the Roebling Bridge is that the decking was left off during the Civil War in part for fear that the Confederate army could use the bridge to invade Ohio.
Honey i was so on Board, but then you told me id accidently booked to fly to the BER, and got Upgrade to Hannover. Hannover is my second favourite airport, BER is a german meme. I wouldnt be mad, i would even be closer to home. I would be ecstatic
You know what else is massive?
They still use them for FedEx
"Accidentally" surreeeee
Imagine humans thinking their brief life is so significant that they get to occupy real estate for the rest of time. Oh, wait! That's the insanity we live in.
UPS Uses the Mad dog
I liked the DC-10. Solid plane but with vulnerabilities. Model was banned was for passengers. Not for cargo. FedEx and KLM are still flying it.
