In this review, I give up on trying to review 1st Samurai and instead opt for the Team 17 classic Alien Breed - A top-down shooting game that has taken a lot of cues from the Alien movie franchise and has seen updates for systems such as the PS Vita, Android and IOS.

Amiga Reviews: Body Blows - The Commodore Amiga Street Fighter Slayer
Переглядів 5913 роки тому
Today, I review Team 17's Body Blows for the Amiga. A valiant attempt to bring the thrills of one-on-one fighting to the home computer. But is it enough to take on the best?
Never use cliche's like 'wax lyrical' I remember buying this and hating it
I'll avoid them like the plague!😊 This was one of the first games I owned after upgrading from a Commodore 64 to the Amiga - so I was wowed by the graphics. But it didn't take long for that novelty to wear off...
deserve an award for gettig through this one!
Haha, thanks - worried at one point that I was going to run out of footage the game is so linear! 😂😂
Ocean was off to a good start with Batman the movie. I loved it on the c64 and Amiga. Even though it introduced the dreaded 'mini game' in the middle, it didnt stop it being a genuinely fun game. Every movie licence after that (apart from Adams family) was absolute garbage. Including this Turkey. T2. A collection of tedious and lazily thought out mini games. Doesn't everone love the odd tile puzzle spinkled into their ponderous action games? P.s. i like your selection of Amiga mods you choose for the background music. Impossible mission and tusker 😊
Yes indeed - I much preferred Ocean's arcade conversions to their movie tie-ins... I also threw in a little Jaguar XJ220 into the soundtrack mix as well 😉 Thanks for commenting and hope you are enjoying the videos!
I would say that Alien Breed has a lot more in common with Alien Syndrome than anything else...which is what I think they might have actually been going for.
alien syndromes a bit different, more of an action-reaction game(much like doom) than game of learning the route/tactic to run through to get past a level which alien breed is. there's a bunch of overhead shooter games though that have some similar aspects. in a way alien breed is like space hulk. only a lot easier and the core more obfuscated.
@@lasskinn474 Pathing is actually quite important in Syndrome due to the strict time limits and often convoluted routes to rescue everyone.
fantastic review, i hope you'll keep making them:) game looks cool and is a technical marvel. i can think only one other amiga 3d game this fast and smooth: no second prize. no wonder its from the same publisher (developer?). i wonder if nsp uses the same engine as this (or a more advanced version of it).
Hi there, glad you enjoyed the review! No Second Prize rings a bell - I'll look it up and maybe do a review of it one day 🙂
great game, remember getting it free on an amiga power cover disk
Same.
I seem to remember my copy having a hand-writtem label on it 😉
nice
Crazy when you point out how far in advance it was of it's time.
I quite enjoyed that, it's a shame there are only the two videos on the channel
Great video and a wonderful trip down memory lane to when I was about 13. The ability to try out different vehicles and explore seemed streets ahead of platform games.
Zzzzzzz
would be great to see more vids
You deserve more views. Great insight into the game.
This brings back memories. Can’t wait to see some more videos from you
Let's be honest, the Amiga was terrible for fighting games, although BB was definitely one of the better ones.. Personally, I stick to playing platformers and watching demos on the Amiga!
