Guitar YouTuber VS MIDI Guitar (Keyan Houshmand)
In this video Alan dissects Keyan Houshmand's MIDI to get a more realistic result. Keyan is a musician/UA-camr that provided all of the MIDI for this video.

MIDI Guitar VS Real Guitar ( Using Axure Guitar MIDI Processor)
Переглядів 924Місяць тому
The age old question. Can MIDI guitars stand up next to real guitars? Using Axure GMP, you be the judge! All guitars in this audio clip are Axure GMP when the video shows the Axure GUI. The difference is barely there if you can even tell at all. The goal is not to replace guitarists. The goal is to help musicians write music with a different medium. If you want to use Axure GMP in a full produc...
MIDI Guitar Sounds Real?
Переглядів 3952 місяці тому
Can MIDI guitars sound real? Yes, they can! It takes a bit of clever programming, but you can make MIDI sound pretty close to the real thing with AXURE GMP! In this example Axure is doing the heavy lifting on rhythm guitars. The solo section is real guitar. All tones were achieved with the Line 6 Helix. This goes HARD!
Is this working with Reaper? is there also demo version to try? tnx
Our library works with Reaper and every other DAW.
Sounds great! ive been meaning to try this one out but i have a few midi gutar libraries already do i realy need another? lol besides my actual guitars are getting pissed at me haha.
Thanks! We will actually be having a huge sale this month so look out for it! All we can say is our library is made with sound quality at the forefront paired with simplicity.
@@studysoundaudio Awesome! i will keep checkin in for that sale dude \m/
Hey! Can you please do an in depth video on articulations. My key switches won't "turn off". I'm sure I'm missing something. Advice would be greatly appreciated!
We can certainly do that. We also suggest to check out @chrisbedan UA-cam channel to learn more!
My schecter is sulking in its stand like an angsty teen since I bought the Axure! Great tool! Absolutely love it. Found you through the metal midi messiah, Chris Bedan!
@@SquatchCloakTech That’s awesome to hear but we definitely encourage you to keep playing your Schecter as well!
@@studysoundaudio I usually have it nearby when Im writing...mostly to work out ideas and/or make sure I'm keeping things within my ability to play them, in case I need to either rplay or teach someone to play the parts. :)
if you say you can hear the difference you're a liar
Its easy to see how riffing could be simulated this way. I don't think the same is possible for guitar solos. Not yet anyway. You could do a simple guitar solo but anything complex would sound fake.
@@Disqualified_Identity We are definitely aiming to resolve that! Will be making videos on this topic as well. Stay tuned!
@@studysoundaudio Awesome! Can't wait to see it. Keep up the good work!👍
lead still sounds like midi when it gets faster. other than that it sounded great
@@LacourseK999 We are working to resolve this in our next update. Stay tuned!
How about riffs in E-standard tuning? Most of midi-guitars sound great in low-tuning, but terrible in E-standard.
Completely agree. Most libraries capture their samples in lower tunings and sounds almost toyish in higher tunings. This is due to sample stretching. Our library is sampled very methodically to avoid this as much as possible. Axure sounds great in E standard. Also, we will have an update this month that will give you complete tonal access of each string with forced strings.
Sounds great what you're doing! Totally realistic. My issue with it, I started with Shreddage years ago, because I sucked at playing guitar, but as I found out, in order to make a library like this sound realistic, you have to know how to play guitar. How it works, how a guitar player would play to make it realistic. So I dropped Shreddage and started playing guitar again. 😂
We totally agree and that's awesome you picked up guitar again! Maybe when you come back to programming parts you will know what to do, just don't forget about Axure ;)
@@studysoundaudio I'm curious to Axure for sure!
Brutal!
Hi Alan, this library sounds awesome! I’m a big fan of MIDI guitar myself. I currently use Shreddage Hydra. I would love to make some song examples for Axure GMP! I’ve been mixing metal music for 15 years so I can make it sound killer 🤘🏻Hit me up if you’re interested
Thanks! You can find our library on our site or you can send us an email to apply for our affiliate program. support@studysoundaudio.com
So impressive, the realistic sounds your able to make!
I noticed the left and right guitar being only guitar 1 in his original video, I’m glad you pointed this out! Ever since I emailed you and you told me to utilize both for L&R it’s been a huge help. Great video man!
Really helpful, been loving Axure!
Awesome, good to hear!
Great humanisation. :)
genuinely confused, got my midi notes into it but it sound nothing like archetype gojira does with a real guitar.
Are you using your key switching correctly? Make sure to have one keyswitch programmed at a time. If you’re having further issues email us at support@studysoundaudio.com
Sounds so good! Awesome riffage :) what’s the bass library you’re using here? Thanks!
Thanks! He’s using Nolly bass by GGD I believe!
Awesome! GGD comin in for the win again :D @@studysoundaudio
Heck yeah! Im loving where technology is going for instruments. Im surprised it's taken this long honestly. Ill bet one day we'll be able to have samples of any strings, pickups, guitar type, and pretty much be able to make any combination to sound like the real thing. I mean, technically it is the real thing if the sample was taken from a direct guitar because if thats true, then impulse Response technology would make it indistinguishable from the real thing. Exciting stuff!
This is sick.
On the budget jackson 😂 wicked
any idea when we can expect an update to Axure ?
@@michaelkingdeseptionvocali1137 No later than the end of October!
Can we get a video on how to best use the different articulations? That would be awesome and very helpful!
Sure thing! We did a walkthrough video on this channel that explains a little bit of that if you haven’t seen that yet.
Axure its for decent sampler? Or I'm just wrong?
It uses Decent Sampler much like Kontakt but simpler to use.
Man Erra screwed up big time losing you lol
Yup 100% agree, they are trash now wont listen to them anymore, their music is straight up boring, Blueshift and Cliffside are where its at right now, apparently Alan helped do their single on Voyager. Even this little clip is 100x better than anything they write now, people were calling jesse the genius but hes only as good as his producers (and apparently rhythm guitarists), the geniuses are actual producers clearly. Would rather listen to just this and pay money for it than even giving erra another stream or cent of my time. Ontop of this Alan is clearly pushing the envelope of his sound and giving people that want to be influenced by it tools to do this with, its so much more respectful imo, shows he actually gives a fuck about his fans and the sound hes bringing to their ears instead of it just being a paid corporate sellout generic entertainer, Alan is the real musician here imo, and honestly this modern metalcore sound he's bringing to the scene is the future, the djent community is just honestly trash at this point and holding back progress because all they want to do is sell out and its frustrating to me, means less bands with less material to learn that most people actually want to play and im not a fan of that, real artists can see when someone is selling out their sound for money, erra's music is very low effort now and you can hear it in the work that's put into the mixes especially, ontop of this hes writing boring stuff to play on tour because its easier, why do twice the work for the same money if its your job instead of a passion right? lol.
That's too many keyswitches to be practical
What do you mean? We have the least amount of keyswitches compared to our competitors.
@@studysoundaudio Technically yes, but you have to put many down just to jam along or to make it play something life-like. It's one of the better ones sound-wise yes, the ui looks cool too. Is there a demo i could try?
this is SIIIICK!!!! LEEETS GOOOOO!!!!
I LOVE MY CHUGS. Do you have some breakdowns, I want to hear some different styles of breakdowns!

WOW Great job this is insane
Thanks Darren!
Man this sounds great! How would one go about making a standard 7 string tuning? Just play around with the Tune function I saw? And is it possible to change the automation keys to be in lower octaves?
@@VasileiosEmmanouilGrammenos Thanks! The library goes all the way down to C0 so you won’t have any issues with tunings. You can mess with the tune knob but be careful not to go further than 12 semitones away.
I wonder is it both Axure and a real guitar? Or is it only midi guitar?
We quad tracked with it where 2 guitars are Axure and 2 live. Axure GMP is on top and the live guitars are low in the mix -14db just adding subtle width and saturation.
Is this the plugin Alan from erra made?
Yessir!
Genuinely thanks for these its really helping me to understand how to program MIDI guitar and ultimately have fun while doing it.
You’re welcome! Stick around for more!
Does it work with FL Studio?
It does!
@NicolaPL_ the key maps do not line up; so it’s not quite there. Yeah you can use it, but it’s kind of a pain. They are supposed to be moving over to Kontakt although, I do not know when. Hopefully soon.
@@RenzoGamesAndMetalMusic thats for lmk!
Where i can get this MIDI riff Pack ?
www.linktr.ee/studysoundaudio
The kid in this video brought me in here :)
How did you rename the low octave notes as the keyswitches?????
@chrisbedan has a key map for Ableton if you’re interested!
@@studysoundaudio thank you very much, i figured a way thru midi effect chain!!! Let’s go!
I've followed all the steps but for some reason it's sliding all my notes when I press any key on my keyboard but it doesn't do this for any of my other plug ins (even native fl studio plug ins) - any advice?
@@AzureNightsMusic You have to program or hit a keyswitch first. Upon loading up the library all the keyswitches are active and will give you that slide noise you’re hearing. If you’re still having issues email us at support@studysoundaudio.com
This is awesome, loving Axure. Just to let you know your hardwork is much appreciated. I still can't believe you are doing these for free. In answer to your question at the end I personally would like to see more mixdown's.
@@dunnicw Thank you! I’ll definitely try to incorporate showing the mixing element in future packs.
how are you getting lables in ableton?
sweet. you could also slightly stagger the higher notes so it doesnt act like you hit all the strings at the exact same time
@@burneraccounthandle That’s a good tip. We actually do this too! Missed opportunity to show that, but good thinking!
I may grab this purely because its NOT a kontakt library ahaha
exactly. and it sounds sick too!
@@xradical89x I ended up getting odin, its been useful for just templating ideas but damn with all of these it takes more time to strip out the gp5 data and program the articulations that for me to just record it 😂😂
Hello! I received the email for the midi pack, which indicated that it was already available but there is no link to download it :(
Hey there! You should have received the midi pack in the first welcome email after signing up. There’s a download link to the files within the first email. If not, let us know!
@@studysoundaudio I think I deleted that email by mistake, is there any other option?
I see Alan's face, I sub to the channel.
Could you do a riff pack for Sleep Token?

Amazing! Thank you. BTW as guitar player, I hear that those guitars are not real recorded. Would be awesome for some electronic stuff or something like that. But those guitars don't feel real yet.
You're welcome! Appreciate that feedback! What do you think we could do better to make it more believable?
Thank you for the free MIDI packs! I've already recreated the Erra breakdown with some different libraries and my mix and really enjoyed the process. Can't wait to play with the other riff packs you've prepared for us! Also, I can't say enough good things about Axure. It's so easy to write full songs now without worrying about the tuning stability and string freshness of a real guitar.
@@StellarWaveAudio That’s so awesome to hear! Glad you’re enjoying Axure GMP and the Riff Pack!
Thanks for sharing! Now i just gotta chose between Axure and Odin 3 😂
@@bioburden I bought Axure and it's great.
Axure is the right answer, i havxure
I feel like the only person that has Shreddage 3 Hydra 😭
Well, you definitely wouldn’t be the only person with Axure 😉
Great job man! Any real reason you used both the Neural Cab and the GGD Cabs? Didn`t that mess the sound by sending a full sound with an IR applied to more IRs?
Thanks! Yeah, actually for some reason the tone was very scratchy and too much high end without the Fortin cabs enabled with Contenders. I blended the Fortin cabs with Contenders and just went with it.
Thank you for the amazing pack, really enjoying playing with it! I want to try other GGD libraries on it, since I don't have Modern & Massive, but I'm not sure if I got the mapping quite right. Is there any chance you could post a drum mapping Alan used for his midi? Would really appreciate this! Btw, Axure is an absolute beast of a library. Just got it and will be using it a lot!
Thanks! Actually, there's a site called "midiremap.com" that will let you remap drums from any drum library to whatever you want and it's free. Glad you're enjoying Axure!
@@studysoundaudio Thanks for the suggestion! The site worked like a charm. Will be trying it out with the GGD Architects now :)
