Thank you for sharing. I breed Canadians, and people have asked me what the breed can do, and they do n't believe me when I tell them. This video covers just about everything :-)
Ma pouliche de 3 ans est canadienne croisée et cest un amour tout comme son père (canadien pur) elle adore apprendre et je commence a faire du saut avec, elle apprend tres bie et tres vite😄
Best kept secret is right. I grew up in north Idaho, I'm almost 49, have always loved horses & don't ever remember hearing about the Canadian horse, which is a shame. Also, so many of the breed's attributes: willing temperament, excels at any discipline, broad feet, etc; combine these w/ the breed's origins from Europe, I got to wondering what, if any, lineage it may share w/ the Friesian breed (which unfortunately seems to have become something of a fashion victim in the last 10 or so years). Anyway, the Canadian breed seems rather underrated. Thanks for sharing this 😊🐴👍.
During the American Civil War, as many as thirty thousand Canadian Horses were used by the Union Army as cavalry mounts and to pull artillery. As the historian Fran Lynghaug puts it, “The Canadian Horse played a major role in the history of that war; it has even been said that the North won simply on the fact that its soldiers had the better horse - the Canadian." But the breed paid a heavy toll for that contribution to the fight against slavery. Thousands upon thousands of Canadian Horses were killed.
@@MrFakit That was an awesome snapshot of history! Thank you for sharing this important information about the Civil War. What kind of horses did people in the South ride ? Thanks for the post .
@@KeyofDavid5778 According to Wikipedia, "Confederate soldiers owned their horses and were compensated on a monthly basis. If a soldier's horse was sick, injured, or killed, the soldier was responsible for returning home and replacing the horse at his own expense. The general rule was that the soldier had 60 days to return with a new horse or he was forced to become an infantryman, which was considered to be an ignominious fate."
Honte au ss qui utilise ses bête a mauvais escient!

No Friesian that we know of. Also no Arabian, according to the DNA tests that were recently conducted.

Oui, il me semble que ce fut Louis XIV , Colbert travaillait pour lui.
Il paraît que c'est grâce à Jacques Duchesneau que le Cheval Canadien fait parti du côté équestre de la SPVM .
