Saw Mill - Previously unreleased studio rehearsal September 1969.
Join us today at 4PM PST for the first annual Jerry Garcia Global Moment Of Gratitude. A #BeKind moment shared around the world. Call your mom, forgive an old friend, purposefully send light and love out into the universe. Don't forget to breathe in the love he's sending right back to us.
This special Rare & Different Tune is a sonic treasure of a studio rehearsal. The Grateful Dead in the late summer of 1969 started playing around with some real country sounds and Jerry's quiet love affair with the Pedal Steel gave us some amazing and unique rare moments with the Grateful Dead like this run through of several takes of this Mel Tillis nugget. Full of the humor and pathos that The Grateful Dead leaned towards in their song choices.Enjoy this is a really rare glimpse of the band at that moment in time, at work together.

September 6th 1973 with Garcia, Saunders, Kahn and Kreutzmann doing a tune that Jerry would keep in his repertoire for more than 20 years.
Moonlight Mile - Jerry Garcia Band - 03/06/1976 - Seattle, WA recorded by Pat Lee
Переглядів 12 тис.8 років тому
Beautiful modern transfer from Pat Lee's master audience Maxell cassettes of this RARELY performed Rolling Stones gem. Moonlight Mile was only performed a handful of times by the Garcia Band and this is a nice clean audience master recording by a seasoned and respected taper and tape trader. The Travis Bean Jerry played ,shown in the video, is the one you'll hear on this recording.
Shakedown Street - May 14th 1983 Greek Theater
Переглядів 7108 років тому
Live recording by Kyle Holbrook, long time taper and audiophile using his Beyer's and Sony D-5. This is a beautiful outdoor recording on the Dead's home turf at the Greek that features a unique call and response refrain from Garcia, Weir and Mydland that erupts in a frenzy of energy. Made loud to be played loud.
Bird Song - Oakland CA 12/26/1981- From Joani Walker master cassette
Переглядів 4798 років тому
A modern day transfer made from Joani's master soundboard cassette recording. Joani had great access in the early 80s and made some great recordings that had been stored for decades before being digitally transferred for the 1st time over the last several years. This recording is a prime example of what her hard work and dedication has resulted in, to be enjoyed by many for as long as WE are US.

Like our FB page at celebratingJerry for additional special content. The introduction of the pedal steel by Garcia into the studio and onstage, led the way for several new tunes to make limited and rare appearances in the set lists, including this George Jones number that was only played live a handful of times between the end of 1969 and the beginning of 1970. A transitional momen...

This was on a 1 3/4" reel of video salvaged from a yard sale of a former record executive in Dallas TX, it came in a box that was mailed from Houston TX from the production house to the record exec in Dallas in October 1971, As it was found in the same box it was mailed and we believe it sat undisturbed for decades. There is no audio track present on the original video reel and the Dallas offic...
My favorite shakedown ever.
Fantastic
strangely beautiful
"For I am sleeping under strange, strange skies. Just another mad, mad day on the road. My dreams are fading down the railway line. And I'm, just about a moonlight mile on down the road." - Strangely beautiful indeed for the strange, strange skies. One of the greatest but lesser known road songs that Garcia lived deeply. By the way, check out the Festival Express film for one of the best captures of the moonlight mile existence. ua-cam.com/video/zfUY31lBUgA/v-deo.html

High and lonesome and can’t find a prankster when you need one

Those were fantastic ❤shows
Brilliant
Always great to hear something from the boys I haven’t heard before! Thank you so much for sharing! Slewfoot is my favorite rarity! This is up there.😎✌️
This is golden ear candy
This is prob my tops youtube
I really like it; never heard it before. Do some more because this is from an easier time in their music catalog.
Sickest version. From the 3:00 mark it's just berzerk.
Happy 80th Birthday Captain Trips 🔥👅 🤗💞⚡💃2:55 makes me melt
This has probably my favorite Wharf Rat ever on it! 💀✌👍🎸🎼🎶🎵❤⚡🇺🇸
Umm... Yay.
Wonder how Pigpen felt about all these country songs Dead were working on.
If Bobby could have handled lead guitar work and added complementary lines to Jerrys steel,Jerry would have played more steel in concert. Bobbys basically rhythm guitar.
Beautiful only the voices of angels 😇.
Great Jerry on pedal steel !!!
Hello reddit.
very nice.
This is gold
I was at this show and Jerry was on fire. For some reason, an audio of the whole performance has yet to surface. Would love to get it if it ever does.
What an audio pleasure. Oh, how so very nice this version is. ⚡️❤️😎🌹🏔
Saw the same band March 3, 1976 at Lane County Fairgrounds (indoor) in Eugene, Oregon. It was the one time I saw Jerry playing the Travis Bean (TB500). My next time seeing Garcia was with the Dead at Winterland end of December 1977. I believe he was playing the Doug Irwin wolf guitar during that run. Keith and Donna made this era of Jerry Garcia Band very tight. Moonlight Mile is one of the trippy Rolling Stones songs from the Mick Taylor days. Jerry’s touch with his guitar could add a fresh take on any number of classics and standards from Irving Berlin to Jagger/Richards to John Lennon and beyond. A master of tone and melody on par with John Coltrane. So many of these recordings add to an amazing archive and legacy for the future.
Wow, just plain wow. 💜
Dammit boys.... thirty years and you still manage to make me cry ♥️🙏💀🌹
Goddamn
always such a joy to hear Jerry play without having to filter out BW.
Come oooonnnn
For my ear his voice sounded much better blending with just Donna's.
Thanks for sharing this!
so so effing beautiful
Jerry employing a hard to master technique here called “being the man”
This is incredible footage. I cannot find any other live footage anywhere. Now this is church
thank you jerry soooo much!
Great nugget, new to me. Thanks!
I was there on the 30th - tripping my face off. Met Bill Graham. One of the loudest shows I've ever been to.
Jerry could add soul to any song.
Not that this song needed any additional "soul"--one of the Stones' best.
just want to say i really dig this channel. The pic of the travis bean is cool too. in my humble opinion alligator and the travis bean were Jerry's best tones. thanks
Man, I wish I was a fly on that wall on that night! Miss you Jerry!
Blessed to see Legion of Mary many times, Bought Live Keystone album in late '73, listened to it endlessly, often went to bed for 5-6 years with Like a Road on my turntable, Magic!
Very enjoyable... I'm partial to the country/folk side of the Grateful Dead
Just picked up a Feb. Show of JGB from 76 "Paloma Theater" where they play this and I was dumbfounded...My body transformed into one big ear and I turned it WAY UP.
My dad was partying with his gf and jerry, donna, keith, kahn, etc... got backstage by baking carrot cake and banana bread for the band and crew. Not even special kinds, times were different then.
At the la paloma that day/night
I work at a sawmill. Cut logs all day long listing to Jerry. This is the theme song to my life. Love it.
Just magnifcent.
pat lee you killed it my man :')
There is the universe in it!
Thanks Universe
When I left, that’s all I could do. I got busted for it the next day because it was cloudy
Loved the surprise ending! One and all...
