WOW! I worked on this record about a million years ago. Who needs the Government was my line. The horn section was from a Greengate DS3 on an Apple II. The drums were from a Roland TR707 / 727. The E E E's on the chorus were sampled on 2 Yamaha SPX 90's and triggered in by hand. I could go on and on ... We played it live at the Limelight in London and totally blew the roof off the place. Sounds (music paper) said it was "Atomic" and it was. A real fun night.
+Darin James Spencer LOL! It was played in live by pressing a button on the front of 2 Yamaha SPX30's one to do the short 'e' and the other to do the long 'eay' That's what you call musicianship ;-P Young people today have it so easy. They don't have to do their own e-e-e e e e e-eay's, they just get a computer to do it for them ;-) The 12" edit does have a e-e-e dub section. I still wish we had taken the leap and done a Japanese version. It would have been eye-wateringly classic. Good luck Master Spencer !
@@ledatape I'll give you another anecdote you might enjoy Ledatape. The 12" was spliced together with scores and scores of ¼" tape fragments. The maths involved to calculate tape-speed and tempo and then workout off-sets against the downbeat to get the edits right is heavy stuff. Man it was hard. You had to: plan the thing out in your imagination, then mix the bits needed to make your vision a reality, and then have the craft skills to splice the tape with atomic accuracy (maybe up to 100 times over with cock-ups) Remembering of course that we were invariably off-our-faces at 4.30AM. We had never had any training. It wasn't like you could pop down the local Polytechnic and do a course, or 'Google it'. it was all done purely by intuition. Immediately after this sampling came along and all those incredible skill-sets became redundant. It's a bit like the passing of sail-power on to steam. morganmarine.com/news-events/the-fighting-temeraire-a-brief-history/
Excellent quality upload - haven't heard this one since I bought the 12"...simply because it was on Creation and everything Alan McGee released in those days was pure gold...
Alan McGee's pisstake scam 'band' utilising some Creation Records artistes - and three young girls he found working in a record shop. It's great, isn't it? I got this the same day as I got 'Kray Twins' by Renegade Soundwave, and the original [banned] 12'' of 'All You Need Is Love [Me Ru Con]' by the JAMS aka KLF. A good day.
I've been looking for this for years...admitedly, it was better back in the 80's but still fun to hear once again.
i still find it an amazing music video. great job matching the song, I thought it was official at first
of which Allbum is This?
Finally, I found this song \\o//
First mix I heard was much longer though...It would be nice to hear that one again!
Crikey, haven't heard this in years. love from the Amphetamine which had 'AIDS week' written across her chest. Thanks NME.
Billy Barua-Payton Thank you for your comment!

Simon Tyrrell Thank you, Simon! Cool stories! I love this track & song.
Can not find section where this is singular in the arrangement...I remember a longer version than this one...

WHO NEEDS THE GOVERNMENT?!!! Who can live without THIS? No-one, No-one, No-one!! Thanks for uploading. X.
@ausgrizzly stolen!? you could get this on e-bay, 7 & 12 inches. Not so expensive...
Thank you for your comments, brianartillery & horse overboard! Baby Amphetamine is the best of Creation for me.

Had you ever seen it live you wouldn't think that. Sounds described it as 'Atomic' and it really was. The record was really nothing more than a demo.
Very cleverly done. You matched the mood of the song really well.
me encantan las luces nocturnas... muy bueno!
