2024 Zildjian K Sweet and K Custom Special Dry Cymbals
Переглядів 634Місяць тому
This is a close look at the Zildjian Custom Special Dry Pack of cymbals which includes 14" Hi Hats, 16" Custom Special Dry, 18" Custom Special Dry, and a 21" Ride. I added a 19" Custom Special Dry crash as well, but it was not part of the original pack that I purchased. I'll also take a look at the Zildjian K Sweet Pack of cymbals which includes 14" Hi Hats, 16" Sweet Crash, 18" Sweet Crash, an...

A look at how a drum enclosure (i.e. a drum cage) can control the volume levels of a drum kit giving the drummer the ability to use a full range of dynamics on an acoustic kit in a mid-size room. Actually, room size doesn't matter. Put on headphones for videos like this.

There's no click-track in my ears (I'm sure you can tell with the variations in tempo). I had lots of imperfections while leading worship behind the drum kit. Fortunately God accepts us with all of our failures. I put this together for folks who wonder what worship looks like behind a drum kit. It's not a performance for people, it's an offering to the Father.

Play Along Fast Rockn Blues in C
Переглядів 6310 місяців тому
This video/song is a little over 10 minutes long. It's a fast paced rocking ("Rockn") tune meant to be practiced with for lead guitar players and anyone else that wants to play solos. It's based on a blues chord progression but doesn't sound like the blues because of the 4/4 timing and goes at a fast paced 160 BPM (beats per minute). You'll get a little music theory along the way and get to pla...

Nearly 11 minutes of blues to practice soloing with. Some music theory is included along the way. This tune is not looped, so you will feel like you're playing along with a real band.

Thanks for the tutorial. Definitely helped me out.
That's alright to do that to a 8 lug Ludwig snare, but I would cringe if that was a 10 lug.
Why not on a 10 lug snare?
@@hopkinks1 I have 10 lugs and have paid a pretty penny for them. The 8 lug I have found in the pawn shops, even the junkyard.
She gong...
Good video, thanks for the upload ❤
I've got my beater tension way less than your kit, just my taste.
Terrible kit for daily use, build is extremely flawed and does not last. Plastic in the worst places. It's a great layout, terrible execution. I am glad I didn't pay full price. Lugs are all ticking timebombs, the snare latch no longer stays closed, the snare arm rocks back and forth, and blue mount issues are on the horizon too. Good luck to you
I hope I have better luck. I thought I was taking a chance, but so far so good. I got mine through Musicians Friend. They’re trying to get a hold of the company (for weeks) to see about getting an additional tom with no luck. Plastic parts makes it lighter but durability may be questionable. I replaced the bass drum batter head with a clear Remo Ambassador smt (with built in muffling). It’s much better than the original head.
@@hopkinks1 I am using the kick and snare from my full size kit. I'll be getting a CNC & 3d printer soon; I'll be able to do repairs / improvements at that point. Be gentle with it, especially the kick & snare. I emailed them directly & had a successful back & forth, including price list. I'm just no longer willing to invest in their product. I am going to slowly acquire some old large Remo roto's and build my own legit mobile kit.
Never had a problem with mine and been giggled solid for two years, sounds good for small pubs, and miked up well...
Killer kit man, great comparison!
Thanks. It’s a fun kit to play for sure.
What a glorious monstrosity of a drum set!
It’s super fun to play but I don’t move it 😎
May I know if the q2u mic is able to record using your gopro hero9 using some cable adaptor?
I haven’t tried it and probably won’t. The mic in the GoPro is already pretty good.
I found that you would need to buy a “Media Mod” for the GoPro to accept a microphone. The media mod has an 1/8th inch jack (small headphone jack). Plugging the Samson Q2U directly into the GoPro did not work.
Okay nice! Thank you again for this.
Nice review! THANKSSS
Nice simple and useful presentation. I might buy this although there seem to be a new generation of 32bit floating point mixers on it's way.
That 24" Armedia Dervish Stingray is TOTALLY interesting!!!
I completely agree. It has many tones and is super washy as a crash. kirkhopkins.com/Blog.php?ShowThis=2020%20Amedia%20Galata%20and%20Dervish%20Stingray%20cymbal%20demo

LOL DIG THAT ANCIENT DW5K DOUBLE PEDAL WITH THE CROOKED BEATER!! I had one just like it back in the early 90's except I installed a second crooked beater for symmetry. I traded that contraption in for 2 first-gen Iron Cobras once I got my second bass drum. That whole kit is long gone but I still have the pedals. Thx for the info on t he Griffin remote hi-hat stand, I've been looking at getting one. Take care!
The ancient double bass pedal was a graduation present from my parents; and you nailed the time frame. I’m old. I still like the pedal. It’s the only thing remaining from my original kit. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video. You said it actually only has 10 inputs, but I see on the right of the top row, connections labelled 9, 10, 11 and 12. What are those connections used for?
They’re “stereo” inputs. Technically it does have 12 but counting stereo inputs as 2 instead of one is somewhat misleading in my opinion.
hola. en el caso de los sonidos combinados en la lista como se transpone cada uno en parte?
I’m not sure but my guess is that the whole keyboard is transposed all the same. It would be mind blowing to play in 2 different keys at the same time.
practice your rudiments
It is not a rudimentary video, He just demonstrating the crash cymbal
Things a bute!
Thanks drummer boi
If you get low monitor output, you may have the plugs wired wrong. The outputs are set up for phones, with tip and ring both separate hot signals, not balanced out. So to get a line level signal use a stereo plug but hook hot to tip and ground to sleeve and leave ring unconnected. Or just insert an unbalanced cable (tip-sleeve) to the first notch. I am using the unit as a 4 channel recorder to archive my collection of quad SQ, QS, and CD-4 lps. Each input and monitor channel is used for one of the 4 channels from my quad decoder. The mixer monitor outs drive the "discreet analog surround inputs on my Marantz receiver with plenty of volume. My only beef is the inability to label tracks with names more easily.
@hopkinks1 those toms sound super nice, do you know what you have them tuned to?
Thank you. I actually tune by ear. Basically I try to tune each drum to where it “sings” I.e. resonates. I like the floor toms as low as they can go.
🤠✌🏻You Are A Great Keyboardist My Friend🤠✌🏻 🤠✌🏻Congratulations🤠✌🏻
Why thank you
The Best music
Thank you
Have you recorded all drum mics into the zoom l12
Not all of them. The board only has 8 regular channels and 2 sets of stereo channels (for a computer/phone). I need 12 inputs for my kit. I have done a mic for bass and snare and they work fine.
Wow the choreography was amazing
good job, pretty simple easy to understand the very basic functions.. thanks and more power
Your presentation was nice and simple. Many try to explain it before they actually use it. You didn't complicate it
Thank you. I tried to make it so a non-sound engineer (and most likely a musician) could understand it. Often times, musicians know their instrument but not other audio equipment. I was in that boat until I needed to learn more.
How has it held up over time?
No issues but I don’t move it
Sweet.
Thanks for the review. Just ordered it. 😊
Glad to help
Thank you, Kirk! 🎶🙏🏼With help of your tutorial I managed to do some recordings with my little jazzy pop band: ua-cam.com/play/PLR2s6iHF_CZSQwcJQbuJaJzR_a2be65e1.html
Where did you get the clamp to mount it to the cymbal stand? It seems like Griffin might be the only brand I can see that doesn’t sell a clamp with it.
www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/gibraltar-scbgc-grabber-multi-clamp
I got a couple of these (Gibraltar SCBGC Grabber Multi Clamp)
@@hopkinks1 Awesome. Thanks!!
When I use the A-Output for the Monitor I get in trouble. This Output ist a Stereo Output! If I use a cable with a Stereo jack and connect it to the Monitor, the Monitors symetric Input builds a differential signal which sounds terrible! Stereo connectors and symetric connectors are not comatible.
There are 2 A outputs. I use the one one the right labeled “PHONES” for my monitor.
Nice rundown. I have 2 doubts. 1. In Port 9/10 or 11/12 - if 2 ¼” Jack mics are inserted does it get combined as one or we can access/modify the left part in the software & adjust the reverb and frequencies? 2. You said grouping is there. Does the grouping also be assigned to the headphone jack? Like there are 3 headphone jack. 1 for singers only, 1 for singer & drummer, 1 for all - like to editor/director.
Give me a little time and I’ll research/try your questions to get you answers
Is this Griffin remote hi hat still holding up??
Yes it is. I liked the first one so much that I bought a second one. I don’t transport them though so I can’t say much about that, other then they seem to be built well.
@@hopkinks1 Thanks, I'm going to grab one, I might get a longer cable from the bike shop though so I'm not restricted of my placement options, how long is it again 4'?
@@Mike-ol7xp, I think it’s closer to 6 feet. The connector is somewhat hidden. I think I would wait until you get it and then take it to a bike place to get the longer cable.
@@hopkinks1 Will do, Thanks.
No. The house system was a Soundcraft si Impact and the drums were enhanced with mi iPhone audio.
Is this video recorded with the zoom l12
Sorry for the very delayed response. It was recorded with a SoundCraft SI sound board, CAD Pro 7 and Shure mics, and iPhones. The shot and some audio from inside the cage was either a GoPro or iPhone (I can’t remember).
That single white snare drum head
Right. It must’ve been too expensive to get a matching one. Budget cuts you know.
@@hopkinks1 yeah lol, makes sense
@The Flopping Doctor, sad but true. Places like Miami spend their money however they want. I guarantee that you wouldn’t see a football helmet that was the wrong color.
Wouldn't be surprised if it broke right before the show and that was the spare
Super
Thanks. I’m glad you liked it.
Great explanation
Thanks. I wanted something non-techy for non-techies.
Wow, insane video, broth!=)
Thanks. I’m glad you like it.
You took the heart out of your instrument
Nope. I gave it life. It wouldn’t be played otherwise.
If you're happy with it, that's what counts that makes me happy too
Where did you buy it?
Musician’s Friend; Guitar Center is owned buy Musician’s Friend, they also have it
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome
Will this stand fit into a standard Roland rack clamp or do I need to buy an adjustable rack clamp?
You’ll probably need an adjustable clamp and something to clamp it on to. I use a cymbal stand to clamp it on to. I’ve considered using 2 clamps for more stability but 1 seems to be doing the job just fine.
i dunno if it's youtube's fault maybe (or my ears are misreading), but it sounds like this is heavily compressed... i think i can hear aliasing, and it sounds kinda like you uploaded this in 2001
It sounds fine to me. I just listened to it using Apple AirPods Pro earbuds.
Gong shit sounds amazing
where did you buy it
GeekStands.com geekstands.com/collections/drums-percussion/products/remote-hi-hat-stand?variant=39493156044894
Hello! Wanted to know if there is any sort of height adjustment , specially for the tension rod. Something like the Tama Iron cobra 900 remote hihat. Thanks!
You need to buy a clamp to clamp it on to another stand to control overall height. Then there is a standard clutch to control the height of the top hat on the rod. Then there is tension amount which I have to the extreme so I I have to push down fairly hard to close it all the way. I had the tension too loose for a while and it felt “mushy”. I swapped out the clutch for a quick release clutch to make double bass transitions easier. Overall I liked this pedal enough to buy 2 of them.
