    Have you tried the Voigtlander 21mm f3.5 on your Leica M11 yet? It’s made for digital sensors so you don’t get the magenta color cast on your images.

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE 12 днів тому

      I have no intention of owning any 21mm lens other than the Biogon or Angulon in terms of performance. The magenta cast and peripheral illumination phenomena are inevitable because they are lenses (symmetrical) from the film era that were not developed for digital. I think the thickness of the protective glass is a problem with Leica digital cameras. There is no problem using the Biogon with the Nikon Zf.

    Do you find that G28 and G21 have significant field curvature ? Some people use a PCX filter in front of both G28 and G21 to correct for that. I have both on a Sony A7C, no color cast, but I confirm the field curvature.

      If you want to capture beautiful images to the four corners, you can use an Aspherical lens. The images taken with Biogon are better than those lenses.

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE

      It fits because it is a hood for the same CF type lens. The hood for the CF150mm is quite large and looks awkward, but it will function as a hood. The hood for the CF50mm does not function as much as a hood.

    • @rieperman47

      @@YoshifumiMIYAKE I agree, recently purchased the CF150mm and the lens hood is indeed bulky and awkward. Planning on buying the CF50mm hood but how much lens flare can I expect? Surely it's better than having no lens hood.

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE 16 днів тому

      A 50mm dedicated hood will not deal with flare at all. It's just a design thing. In the case of backlighting, you can increase the shutter speed and hold your hand over the hood, and there will be no problem. 150mm is the maximum focal length that can be shot handheld, so I recommend using a tripod.

    Hey love the video! information was quite useful. Been subscribed to your channel for a while but just realized you posted some videos of the Toyo (I just recently received a Toyo vx125 and was searching for videos on it). I tried googling and looking at the large format camera forums but information is a little limited on this specific. 1. Just curious is there a specific monorail that we have to use to extend the camera monorail (I have the short extension rail end caps on both sides) since I am looking to use longer lenses? Correct me if I am wrong It appears that the G series of monorails seems to work with this camera, but I will need to remove it out of its base rail right? 2. Also I noticed that you used a QRC 300 quick release plate. I contacted toyo and they dont appear to sell them anymore, is there any other tripod head that natively works with the built-in toyo plate. It doesn't seem to go into my arca Swiss tripod heads easily and was wondering if there is a specific tripod head that works natively with it ? I have a few other questions too, but perhaps if you dont mind sharing you can help me with these first. greatly appreciate any advice and thanks in advance!

      Hello. There is no other compact view camera as functional as the TOYO VX125. I will never let go of this VX125. Now, let me answer your questions. 1. As stated in the instruction manual, if you attach a 3cm adapter (this is new and available from TOYO, I recently purchased one new from TOYO) to the front and back, you can use up to T-400mm (M300mm). I have actually taken pictures using T-400mm. I have heard that it can be replaced with a base rail, but I have not tried it. You will have to remove it from the rail and make the bellows longer. With the standard bellows and adapter, you can use up to T-400mm. You will also need an adapter when using w240mm or w300mm. 2. Even if you do not have a quick plate, you can attach it directly to the screw hole of the support column of the main body. You can fix it with a plate with a small screw (1/4?) whether it is Arca Swiss or Manfrotto.

      @@YoshifumiMIYAKE Thats great to hear that you love this camera so much! I am glad that I made the right choice then. BTW I hope you and your foot a recovering well. Thanks for your prompt response as well. 1. I think I have 2 of those adapters. I guess I will make do with that for now since I have only a super angulon 90mm. A base rail did come with the set, but I was hoping for something like the 3cm adapters but longer. oh well.. 2. Yea I have been doing that as an interim as I source for a qrc 300. Was just wondering if there are any other options. 3. I noticed that 1:05 there is a hood over the ground glass. is that the toyo lens hood that you utilized ? 4. I also noticed that you carry everything in a case. do you have the model number for the case? and is there a reason why you dont use a backpack for your landscape photography ? Thanks again and speedy recovery!

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE Місяць тому

      3. The distinctive hood of the TOYO VX125 is the "balloon focusing hood," which can be folded up, and does not require a cap that is necessary for large format cameras. It is an excellent item that allows you to adjust the focus even on windy days. This year, I had TOYO make this part for me. 4. Apparently there was a special original case for the TOYO VX125 (I sometimes see them at auctions, etc.), but I don't have one, so I use a general-purpose case that is used for tools and regular cameras. I shoot with lenses and 6x17 film bags in a backpack. If I put the VX125 in my backpack, I can't fit anything else in it, so I carry them separately. I'm sure I won't need crutches for my feet by next week.

    Hi, The photos are beautiful. Last week I picked up a Contax G1 silver label with the 45mm lens and I am very happy with the results. Out of 37 photos only one is out of focus. The lens produces lovely sharpness and contrasts. Kodak Gold, a budget film stock ( still expensive here!), gives good colours. I like to use this camera outdoor on a sunny day ( not very often here in Holland ) for "casual" shooting. I think I will not shoot this camera with B/W film. On my first roll I used only auto setting, like a point and shoot. Very different from my other full mechanical cameras, on which I enjoy the handling of manual functions. This camera gives me very good shooting experience and results. I might also get the 28 and 90mm lens. The photos you shot with the 90mm is very very good, exactly what I look for on a portrait lens. Not every 90mm user have focusing difficulties. Good light and clear subjects ( no undefined subjects like crowds of people) make focusing easier. Would it help if the lens data of the camera is updated or recalibrated? Thanks again for the video!

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE 3 місяці тому

      The focus of the G2 is better than that of the CONTAX G1, but up to 45mm the focus won't be that off. However, if you are trying to focus on a subject through a gap or if there is an object a little in front of the subject, it's easy to lose focus, so you'll need to focus in a place with contrast. Dr. Glatzel's 90mm is excellent, but even the G2 will lose focus. It's probably better to use it in manual mode. This G-mount lens is excellent in both color and monochrome.

      Hello, thanks for your comment. I recently sold my CONTAX G2 and all my Yashica/Contax mount lenses. The reason is that I have always felt that G mount lenses are superior, and I was able to convert my G mount Zeiss to M mount. I don't like the automatic film advance, and it's better to focus accurately yourself. The M-A is a fully mechanical model without the MP's light meter, and as you would expect from a recent camera, there are no problems using it. (The only time I've had to get the viewfinder repaired is because it was misaligned.) The viewfinder is superior to the M6, and you could even say it's an MP type. (The viewfinder on the reproduced M6 is an MP type.)

      SL2は割と出回っていますからそのうち出会えるでしょう。LeicaのM5やSL2はコストを、かなりかけて開発製造したので、その分今の時代でも(メカニカル部分での話ですが)良い個体なのではないでしょうか。

      コメントありがとう。21ミリ好きで動画をよく作りますがイマイチ世間の反応が・・・まぁ、良いかと振り切って写真撮っています。今の時代デジタルでも良いですが、モノクロはフィルムの方がその良さが出ると思います。特に紙焼きとインクジェットでは色の質や画面のインパクト、紙質から印象が全然違いますよ。フィルム世代の私から言わせてもらうと、Leitzレンズでカラーってどうなんでしょうか。撮影した事ないしM型デジタルは仮にお金あっても自分は購入しないです。21ミリMのAngulonと21ミリGのBiogonは両方解像度も高く良いレンズだと思います。Angulonはモノクロ用、Biogonはカラー用と分けて使用しています。

    Hello Miyake, I just saw your most recent video and wanted to extend my sincerest condolences. I’m not religious but I do believe in the power of legacy. For instance, your photos, I like to believe that they are your legacy and will be remnants of you, long after your lifetime. In the same way, I believe that our companions (canines included) do the same and live long passed their lifetime, in our memories and hearts-in this way, they continue to live and be with us. Sending much support and admiration as you continue your contributions to photography ❤

      I can't heal from the sadness of losing my dog, but I would like to get another dog. After being cremated in the same crematorium as humans, the ashes were placed in the grave where his younger brother is buried. I'm sure he will attain Buddhahood. I've printed negatives of my dogs on paper and displayed them with the dogs I've bought so far, and I've sorted out my feelings for the time being. I'm taking photos and will probably make a video soon.

    こんばんは!私事ですが、この動画好き過ぎて、先日、とうとう Nikon Zf 手に入れたので、早々に、紹介されてます 21㎜・28㎜・45㎜ 安かったので90㎜ も手に入れちゃいました。(^^) 最初は、コシナの APO-LANTHAR 35mm F2 Aspherical と、APO-LANTHAR 50mm F2 Aspherical を考えてましたが、お安く済みました。笑 MIYAKEさんの、「Zf 売っちまった!」のコメントにはズッコケましたが、私はこれで長い間、遊ぼうと思ってます。ありがとうございます。手始めに買ったのはビオゴン21㎜ 小生も 903SWC大好きで、絶対売らない!と思ってましたが金欠で売却、その後もう一度 SWC/M 手に入れたのですが、これも金欠で売却  自分でも「最後まで残しておきたいフィルムカメラ」だと思ってても、高価売却できるので手放してしまった。その再来で、ビオゴン21㎜ 使って行きます。(^^)

      Zfは、やはりデザインが一番気に入らなかった。80年代を高校生で過ごした世代にはFM2よりF3でした。NikonのFマウントレンズの写りも気に入らないのでFレンズは13本近く売って、手元に3本だけ残しました。自分の中でCarl Zeissはヤシコン時代まで性能的にも今のCOSINAのZeissより優れているのはMTFみてもわかるでしょう。ニコンはSマウントの時代の写りがいいのはZeissのコピーだからでしょう。SマウントとS3はこれからも持ってるでしょう、Leicaの方が使いやすいけど。デジカメのマニュアル使用で21ミリはピント精度はG21ミリが一番でした。

    Hi Miyake, thanks for posting this, I really liked your 1st POV view and then the images. As I am seriously considering to get a SL2, I have one concern and may be you can help me a bit, my M5 light meter doesn't work as I can't get the batteries etc. How is the light meter on Leicaflex SL2? Also as a local, could you recommend a couple of reputed places in Japan where I can buy R lenses from or any analogue gear. Btw, Which batteries do you use in it? thank you in advance! Konnichiwa! :)

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE 8 місяців тому

      good evening. Battery voltage conversion adapters are available for Leica M5 and Leicaflex SL/SL2. (Is it only in Japan?) SR43's 1.5V is converted to 1.35V using a product called MR-9. It's sold on Amazon in Japan, but isn't it sold on Amazon overseas? One piece is sold for 3000 yen. I use it with the Leica M5 that I previously owned and the Leica SL2 that I am currently using, and the exposure meter shows almost accurate values. R lenses are becoming popular in Japan as they are cheaper than M mount. In an auction, it is important to judge the seller. In general, Leitz lenses tend to fog up easily, so check them with an LED light.

    The chracter of these lenses is superb. Which adapter are you using? Have you tried other R ones? Thanks Miyake. Well done

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE 8 місяців тому

      Since I got rid of ZF, I also got rid of the mount adapter. I have Angulon and Elmarit 60mm macro R lenses, but I tried Angulon. Well, no matter what lens you use, all digital images will look the same.

    • @Mikalet1
      @Mikalet1 8 місяців тому

      Why you sold it ? You can't reach kind of taste you like ?

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE 8 місяців тому

      The reason I sold it was because of the design and the performance of F-mount lenses. I don't like the design of FM2.I was in high school when FM2 was on sale. From that time on, I preferred the Nikon F3 designed by Giugiaro.I still have F3hp. I prefer Nikon's rangefinder-style design of the S series S3 and SP.I also have an S3 (1964 Olympic model).The F-mount lens also produces mediocre images. My favorite lenses are Carl Zeiss (Yashica/Kyocera).For digital cameras, the sensor (manufactured by Sony) and image processing engine are all that determine the performance, and the lens performance has nothing to do with the quality of the image. It will look great even with a plastic lens. I didn't buy Z mount lenses because they were too expensive. If Nikon were to sell a digital camera with a fixed lens in SP form, I would buy it. (There is no possibility)

      Deardorff 4X5 Sp is heavy and stable. As you get older, it might be a good idea to take pictures at Deardorff. I got it, but it's not as functional as TOYO's VX125. Rise and locking functions are poor. It may not be suitable for wide-angle lenses.

      そうか、Z6より高級なZ8/9あたりでどうなのかな。 G21ミリBiogonで試してほしい、Angulon-MやHologonとか。 特にオリジナルContaxの21ミリBiogonがアダプターにカマして、 並べてみてもG21ミリよりもセンサーにより近い。 多分、表照射のZ5だけ被るのかもしれない。 センサーや画像処理エンジンの問題だろうね。

    thanks for explaining the recessed board, one thing, for linhof technika boards (4x5") Toyo, Sinar and others use 'adaptor' boards, which do account for this off centre, Sinar P2 standard carriers and linhof Technikardan also have a mark on the rise scale just for these boards, to ensure neutral position.

    • @YoshifumiMIYAKE
      @YoshifumiMIYAKE 10 місяців тому

      I've never used Linhof or Sinner, so I don't know. TOYO has a separate recessed board attached to the main body, and if you also attach a recessed lens board, you can considerably narrow the flange back. However, with this, the standard bellows cannot be tilted. A bag bellows is essential. I bought a 2cm recessed lens board this time to reduce my luggage. Normally, Linhof board is also effective for shooting from above. In parallel or when looking up, the offset width can be said to have an effect on tilt (rise).
