Yihua 948DB PLUS-II T12 soldering station unboxing and initial impressions
This is an unboxing of the YIHUA 948DB PLUS-II T12 soldering station that I purchased from Lazada in Thailand for 1350 Baht (approximately $38 USD).
I've made this video as I couldn't find much information about this particular T12 station apart for basic info on the Yihua website. I hope it will be useful to anyone considering this unit.

4th GoPro Hero 9 - Audio Pops
Переглядів 1,3 тис.4 роки тому
On my 4th GoPro Hero 9. All have had the same issue with crackling and popping in the video especially prominent in recordings within 30-60 seconds of turning the unit on. This happens on every occasion and is reproducible on each of the 4 units I have had, both before and after update with firmware 1.22. I have also tried turning off all connections and GPS and used three types of microSD whic...
Got mine a few days ago from Amazon. It came with 3 tips conical, chisel and knife. The conical and chisel tips are unstable at temperatures above 400°C the knife isn't. Have you ran into any issues like that, wherein the temperature just fluctuates erratically from the set temperature?
No I haven't, but I don't operate it much above 370. What are you soldering at those temperatures? If it's larger items acting like a heat sink the unit might be trying to regulate the iron, thus the fluctuations?
@@damienrichardsonphotography I was testing the station out at those temps, I won't be using those high temps because the tips get oxidized rapidly. I did some digging and it's a known issue with the Chinese made T12 tips, they basically skipped a process so the end user has to it. running the tips threw a few heat cycles should fix the issue, and think it has fixed mine.
Hello, does the sleep mode and auto shutdown works?
How is it going so far? Does it work correctly?
Yeah. Still going strong. I've since bought a chisel style tip which greatly improved the iron's usability
can you do teardown for this
Sorry for the late reply. I was happy enough with the grounding check to not bother opening the casing but I can understand why you would be interested in that. I may give it a go soon and I'll post a follow up.
Any update on how the case is holding up? I'm trying to find a similar case in europe, but without any luck so far (most are just junk)
Case is holding up great. It’s patina is getting along nicely and the built in arca Swiss tripod plate has been very useful. My only grip would be that sdcard can be difficult to remove because of the extra depth of the plate. I put a tab with some sticky tape that helps me put it out easily.
Hi, I had this same problem with the internal microphone and it's a hardware fault. GoPro knows about it but plays dead. I created a video that shows my way how I have solved it. I needed nearly half a year. You can find this solution video on my channel with the title 'GoPro Hero 9 audio crackling problem FINALLY solved!'
Gopro is dead to me and your video confirms I made the right choice to return the camera for refund and never buy another GoPro. They are clearly focused on profit not customers. But thank you for taking to time to comment.
@@damienrichardsonphotography Yes, if I had known before, for sure I wouldn't have bought a cam from this company. Once you do a mistake...
Great overview of a case I’m watching on eBay at the moment. Thank you.
Yep same here on my 2nd now , I just want the camera no media mods just raw audio that can actually be used . No pops but whatever I do they are still there. Annoying thing is I have a hero 9 I can’t use it so I have gone back to my hero 7 for guaranteed playable audio. Shocking behaviour from GoPro
Is Auto Wind Noise OFF on GoPro? RAW Audio-OFF. WIND- Wind Reduction- OFF !
i think this would be the perfect case if it had a pronounced section on the front grip. im torn between this and the Gariz case, thanks for the review!
I agree that a raised area on the front would be nice, but I haven't had any issues with grip. I have added a thumb grip from Lensmate too since making this video.
@@damienrichardsonphotography that's good i want that grip just trying to get my head around the price haha
Any update as to how the case is holding up? I’ve had the Gariz case for my X100T and after a few years the ‘metal’ bottom sticker that covers the base came unglued. Other than that the case has been great so I was going to get one for my X100V before I came across this case. I like the extra utility of the built in tripod mount but like the other commenter, I too like the extra grip the Gariz case offers.
what did u end up buying?@@ericneumore1515
Same here, after 2 months owning the hero9, today all of a sudden started with that crackling .....unbelievable
Just received mine,,don’t think mines doing that
You are very lucky. I tried 5 times and took the hint. I hope they do fix it. I really want to have this camera. But at the premium price they’re asking I want the basic functionality working.
@@damienrichardsonphotography I’ve not had chance to use it properly yet and there is so many different settings on it,,I’ve not got a clue what’s what,,if you tell me what settings you did this video in and I will try mine and compare buddy,,,,have you tried a different memory card
@@explorewithantWell turn it on and start recording or do a quick capture. It’s pretty obvious because it happened for me on all 5 units within the first 30-60 seconds of turning on. I tried all combinations of microphone settings including seperate audio file and issue is always present. Easily reproducable. If you’re happy with how yours works well very lucky for you. I want an explanation or acceptance of the issue by GoPro and confirmation of a fix before throwing down my hard earned for another try.
Same issues here
Exact same with mine, I Vlog with this thing. Upgraded from the 7, picture is awesome, so sad the audio does not match.
Sent mine back, stepping away from GoPro
I'm hearing you. When the Osmo Action 2 comes out they should be worried.
You're not alone...
sounds like microwave popcorn
Hello, I was able to reproduce the crackles or pops with another camera connecting a simple piezo microphone and boosting up the input volume, some "pro" cameras have what it's called "preamps" to adjust the imput volume of a microphone, what I think is that GoPro Labs that is launching firmwares to unlock technical features could look forward to implement an adjustable imput volume to avoid the popping which I'm pretty sure that it's caused by having the volume too high because compared to my other camera (in default volume) the audio of GoPro it's much louder. Also in my tests the most loud and problematic microphone it's the front one below the lens. GoPro Labs can be reached to their forum where people ask for certain features and this one could be it. Don't give up!
Isaac. That would be great if true. I also wonder if the cause is related to underpowered processor struggling to process all the data, particularly as the camera starts up (GPS etc). I get similar crackles in Logic Pro if my settings latency etc are not appropriate to my processor power. I wasn’t going to risk getting stuck with hardware issue so returned my GoPro to the big box store where I purchased for full refund. I will but another if I have confidence they have addressed this issue, either in software or hardware.
@@damienrichardsonphotography My first GPH 9 had these popping sounds only mounted in a tripod, then I replaced it and saw that the new one was perfect with a tripod but sometimes makes a little pop when I'm holding it with the hand, not always, so made me remember of Piezo michrophones that have very low tolerance and easily clip when input volume is high since GoPro is a sealed water proof camera and the kind of sound it captures when touched directly is very similar of a Piezo mic.
I’m thinking about sending mine back because it does the same thing.Gopro junk
Mines the same, do they send a brand new cam each time or are they refurbished and used? Thinking of sending mine back , but is it worth it if you've had 4, can't sell it and they won't give a refund, joke!!
I’m still waiting for a refund from this fraud company.
Did you test it after the new firmware?
Actually changed it for fifth that had the same problem so I waited for firmware 1.5 and no fix! So I returned it for full refund. I’m going to wait a few months and hope newer batches fix this issue. Quite confident it’s hardware related.
Stesso problema con la mia....non so più cosa fare :(
Same here, replacement is even worse and on top of that they don’t want to refund me because a replacement camera is not ‘brand new’?! WTF, the replacement is a week old?! Since then no response from GoPro, they tried to phone me twice but the connection was too bad to understand the person at the other end. Great service GoPro!
I'm really sorry to hear. I subscribed to GoPro when I bought my camera, but I just wouldn't be able to deal with the messing around to return a camera only to get a refurbished replacement weeks later that has exactly the same problems!!
Same here. Its been the same on mine, Im on my 3rd. probably the same for every one. but a lot of people are oblivious to it.
I exchanged my 4th for a 5th and guess what?? Same same....Fortunately the staff at the store (JB HiFi) I bought from have had a fantastic attitude to my issues and said that if I wanted a refund they would be happy to accept the camera and all the other accessories I bought as part of that refund too. But thank you taking the time to comment.
my does the same thing, first 30 sec or min of video.
I suspect it's actually widespread if not all cameras affected.
Got my new replacement one today. Shit happens again. Disappointed.
Sorry to hear that but I’m not surprised. I’m quite sure that I would find the same problem in every hero 9 in the store where I bought and exchanged my four units. Going to a different branch of the same chain didn’t even help. They probably get their stock from the same distributor. If you check the GoPro support forum for Hero 9 there’s 18 pages of discussion on this issue. It’s looking more and more like a hardware problem but I’m holding out for the November firmware update before I decide to get my money back. Pity though because it’s great otherwise.
@@damienrichardsonphotography meanwhile the discussion is 100 pages and there is still no solution :/ I got my second replacement and will have to replace it again. It's disappointing
I have just received my replacement 9. The first one had terrible popping. The replacement has way less popping but it is still there. This is ridiculous. Im going to ask for a full refund.
Yeah. I’m hearing you. After going through that 4 times. The camera can take some great video and I love the hyper smooth, horizon levelling, time and hyper lapse functions which provides so many creative options but the audio issue is a real let down. I’m working around the issue atm and hoping for a firmware fix this month. But, if it doesn’t come I guess it will be refund and wait.
@@damienrichardsonphotography I can't believe this isn't being more widely reported. It's such a big issue.
