My Camaro isn’t starting, it only starts and then dies when I spray starting fluid in it. I have a security light on. Will that prevent my car from starting? Do I need to do this?
Hi we are having this issue and trying to find out which resister we should use. Our key says 9.67 I ordered the pack you linked on here. Which resisters should I use ? I have a 10.22 and a 9.32 I’m not sure if I should go up or down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi there, I have one more question. I unhooked the battery and installed the proper resistor and the light went out but now the lights still flash at intervals and there a a dinging sound. First it flashes and dings every few seconds and then longer gaps. Not sure what to do with that. My stereo is out, updating the sound system, would that be a problem, or do I have to reset something. Thank you very much for your help and info.
Did you solder the wires and resistor together?, and far as I remember ( was told )the stereo is linked to the security system but not sure i haven't had that issue, good luck to you
@@jameswheeler9043 Hey there, thanks for replying and yes I did solder all the connections. Once I install the new stereo I will see if that resolves the problem. Thanks again
Yeah, that's what mine is doing. Same same. Previous owner took the stereo out and security light is flashing, and the lights outside are flashing too. It starts... But that's not gonna get it. I got to have it straight. Any luck on yours? What did you do?
@@Knowledge-IS-Power365 Hi there, once I did the vats bypass and purchased the proper wire harness for the stereo from crutchfield and I ordered the stereo from them also I hooked everything up and it finally went away. I turned the key but didnt start it and the light went out, so I fired it up and let it run for about 15 min. You may have to do this a couple of times. I think I had the stereo on and programmed. It seems the security system does work through the stereo. Hope this helps, any more questions just ask.
@@cathykrebs3782 I have a stereo from a 99 firebird, I should be able to put that in my 98 camaro just to see if it has any effect on the security light, no?
Hi there, having the same issue with my 95 Camaro. Could you be a little more specific on which resistor pack to order. I can't seem to find the one you have in your video. Thank you very much, your video is very helpful.

@@DryHighFN this will solve the security light situation
Nice the car is already famous lol
Can you just buy a new key with the same ohms and have it cut ? Will that work without having to do the bypass ?
Sure can
What if when I rest my key it reads .679 is that reliable
U couldve at least put a link for the resistor's and show which 1 u will need to use

I've commented on this before, in the comments
Is it not a matter of just getting replacement keys from the dealer?
Once you do this there is no point I believe this bypass the chip in the key
Key200$ this=turns back to normal when you have the money and 7$ to you have the money to fix key its a matter of solutions in the moment
Pretty sure that’s close enough should be straight
If I have 1.480 ohms is it okay to get a 1.5 resistor
I lost my keys to my Pontiac firebird v8. What's the best way to get a new set? Even if auto zone sell me a new key how do I bypass the chip
I believe you can go to a gm dealership and bring your vin # and they can order you set
@@jameswheeler9043 yeah man, why the hell can't you just get a new key? Is it really that expensive?
I lost my keys to my Pontiac firebird v8 1992 where can I find one

I would try the 9.32 one with the closest resistance as possible
@@jameswheeler9043 thank you! Waiting for a solder gun to come in and hope this is our issue.

Will this work by just cutting it? Cause I ain't worried about the security on the car. Or do you have to do this?
You have to, unless you have it removed from a tune

I bought a car with out a key its a 94 z28 and im trying to figure out which resistor i would use to do this
I think your best bet is to buy a gm resistor pack from eBay and try each one to find out, i belive there's 12-15 resistors in a pack
