If you're a beginner and serious about wet shaving, you need something with bite to get your technique down. Mild razors will make you lazy and sloppy and you'll end up having to unlearn bad habits. That was my experience anyway and I probably learned the most from using shavettes. You'll learn real fast what you've been doing wrong-hahaha! Great soap and splash! I'm more of a painter so that knot is probably up my alley, but I have run into a few that were too floppy for me. Have a great weekend Dave!

Insane lather control with a very small amount of soaps Dave 😮 I always run out of soap in the third pass so I load tons of soaps from the beginning.

Nice shave Dave I have been using a 3d de razor as well - superiorcuts3d. Pretty neat design, comes with a wide variety of plates across gaps. Have you checked out the recent launches by Yaqi - slants in stainless steel. I hope the brain gets enough rest ;). Sleep well

Great shave Dave! I keep telling guys you are buying the knot not the handle. So many guys only go for a beautiful handle to have a junk knot put in. The old SV knots - man like a pillow with backbone and good flow through. Enjoying the injector shaves also - thank you! Have a great weekend!

Nice shave! It's been a bit since I've seen someone using one of his razors and all the ones I've seen have been great shavers. I do get a kick out of seeing plastic razors and it always gets me thinking of new ideas for shave gear. Maybe a wooden razor-lol! Haven't seen one of those! Well, maybe it's a timing thing with the razors as it would be too bad to see waining interest in vintage razors. Hearing you unloading the Era reminds me that I have one that I might do the same. I can't remember the last time I even used that one and there's probably some others that could go too. Maybe thin things out some. Have a great one Dave!

That Paradigm is a magnificent piece. But commanding so much $ it was one of the first things I sold when I realized id lost the plot in accumulating more razors than I could use. It's been a while since I used an injector, I'll have to bring one out today. Thanks as always.

Dwspite everything, that was a very decent shave. On a separate note, that razor requires some skill just to load it. I wonder if a contraption like that was popular during the early 1900s.

Honest assessments provide useful insights; a culture of enforced adoration does not. Not solely a UA-cam phenomenon, as forums can be equally bad or worse about stifling candor. As a thought experiment, can you imagine anyone on DFS offering even mild, respectful critique of an Ethos product?

Nice one Dave! Cool razor and one of those unusual transforming types. You might get some of the new OneBlade blades sometime, as they are basically a Gem blade without the spine and they are smooth. I probably would have picked some up in my search for a smooth Gem, even if I hadn't made that Speedster razor. Before artisans went crazy with all the butters and oils, I hadn't heard of a soap not lathering, but I've heard about that since more than a few times. IMCBD had a super premium one that probably didn't even do as good as this one and even after the artisan sent him another, that one wasn't much better. People gave him all kinds of suggestions and also a lot of flack for calling it out. He loved the scent, but that stuff couldn't make a lather and that soap was double the price of a standard soap. I think I'm starting to get a collection of soaps that are cologne scents, that just are not my thing. I'm just not a cologne guy and there are very few them that I even like. When I hear about a new soap with a cologne dupe, I pretty much think that it's not for me-hahaha! Seaforth Spiced is one that I love, but I haven't run into one yet to knock it out of my top cologne scent and that one is a homage/reimagined to the original. I'd rather have grape soda or cotton candy-hahaha! Take care!

Unusual and interesting.. the fact that adjustability was an issue back then does say something.. IMHO all razors should be offered with some sort of basic (that is at least 2 settings) adjustability.. suggestions (quarter twist as iñ PAA's Ascension, double aggression on double sides as in RR Lupo, additional plate (with different aggression), a mechanism to adjust the blade exposure, etc..).. maybe it's just me but come on.. doesn't make sense shaving the 2nd/3rd passes with the same aggression of the 1st..

Thanks Dave. I ran across this video while checking out Elysian soaps, but the Prometheus brush is definitely the star of the show - at least a 6 on a scale of 1 to 5. The Camry looked pretty boss too. I had a Camry and loved it. Then we adopted a pair of Golden Retrievers, and it was goodbye Camry, hello SUV. Yeah, I sold off a bunch of hot rod parts a while back and a guy wanted to haggle about the price of an engine I had. It was a rare motor and I was already giving him a great deal-haha! I'm glad you used the Dorset, because it occurred to me that I could modify a hair shaper blade to use in the one I have. It is funny that some of the best razor designs, had a proprietary blade and take some work to use them now. That soap sounds great and I totally agree that some of these formulas are a step up and even the bottom ones are really good. You've got some great brushes and this one is really up there. Patrick did a great job on that handle! Yeah, when I had my big beard it was a lot of work to maintain it. I had a skin issue that flared up and that's when I shaved it all off. Not sure what it is, but if I wait too long to shave now, I get that same flare up. I'd probably get it checked out, but I'm not planning on doing all that work maintaining a beard-I'd rather just shave. LMAO! Have a great one!

The Soluna razor is much more agresive than the Yuma, for me anyway but above all I like best is the swede Matador...😊
