Long Term Review - 1 Year with ROG Azoth
After using the ROG Azoth as my daily driver for 1 year, there are 2 things that I really think need to be pointed out with my experience with the keyboard.
Let me know what you think about the keyboard and whether or not it is something you'd consider buying, or what alternatives you'd rather buy for a similar price?

I got this keyboard the first batch. It has been perfect except for the same issue as you with double inputs, but not from the ROG switches, from the Akko Lavender v3 pros i put in. I guess there was some PCB issues with this board that could casue double inputs. but i've never experienced it. oh i will say too this wireless is way more picky then most mouses and such. It would cut out a lot if the dongle wasn't right by the keyboard. kinda dumb as the ROG Harpe Ace had no issues with the same exact dongle. Guess the case interferes with the signal more.
Thank you so much for this in-depth video, so incredibly helpful.
You’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful
Almost always we have to warm it at least twice to make the milk warm enough. It’s relatively useless as you can’t get right temperature from the first go and that’s the whole point of this product.
For the price you pay I would expect a more professional really well made box. There are other kits in the market that are extremely well presented.
Oh interesting, I don't think I know the alternatives. What other kits are there that you know of? Would love to try them out
@@mikes_likes There are none. Obviously competing products exist, e.g. Aromaster, but nothing that has the presentation somehow clearly better than LNdV.
Honestly it could have been south facing switches and no rgb. Its not that needed as people think. You are not playing in complete dark and what you actually need is some rgb leds behind your monitor, it lets you to uze keyboard comfy too
My thoughts exactly, we can't be the only ones that feel this way
Its not thocky it clacky 1:10 its not bad but its not thocky. Play either pc plate and lightess springs ever. Really good for long gameplay sessions. For typing its mid but gaming niceee
Haha, maybe it's cause i'm comparing it to my previous very clicky mx blue keyboard or perhaps I could've moved my mic closer to record it's bass more :D
At 04:10 its the double press issue, kinda infamous about this kb. And ofc, mine got it too... Its not the switches, as I have nx red and also akko, both do it. Some people don't experience this after year, some do after weeks, like me. My 2 month old new azoth has had double presses. The double press aka chatter issue is extremely bad when typing, but also gaming. Its not switches or SW, well, klinda... Its the pcb of the kb, the hw part, that but can be fixed simply by this: github.com/mcmonkeyprojects/KeyboardChatterBlocker#setup
Well in my case its literally the Akko V3 pro series. They are crap and the leaf becomes lose and jitters around and causes double inputs. I have a First batch Azoth and it is still perfect and so are the Blue switches. Just not those damn Akko's that die in 7 months.
Video looks like somebody with thousands of subs made it. The issue isn't you. The issue is there are thousands of channelsnlike this. So it's harder to break thru. It wasn't as hard back in early 2010s. But keep it up if you like to make this content. Maybe you'll pop off
Thanks man, really appreciate the kind words and praise!
Good review
Thanks!
perfect preview
Thank you!
I really love mine. I have the white version NX Snow. They are better and more refined than your NX Reds. Best I’ve ever owned and fully hot swappable. If I want to replace anything it would be the keycaps
I've heard a lot of good things, I really want to try them out, but can't bring myself to buy it at full price. Hopefully a friend buys it soon and I can compare them side by side :)
Hits our gribes to a tee. And yeah, we didn't get the temp either... Dunno why 🤷🏼
You're filming is so cinematic! Love it.
Thank you so much!!
I'm using an Azoth, and agree with most of your points. I love the keyboard but hate the Armory Crate, and have use for rgb in certain low light situations with oled on hardware temp duty. AC seems to have broken this and am left with animation or banner options only.
Thanks for your view, I also have the CPU usage and temp showing on my OLED screen. It was buggy for a while, but it seems the latest AC update has fixed it, are you still having problems? I agree that the Armory Crate is tough to deal with and could really use an overhaul
Strange. Mine works perfectly. Heats up to 38 celsius. I pull it out, swirl it a few times, it measured at 37.5. As soon as I tip it, heat distributes and it landed at exactly 37 on the dot. Did it with breast milk. With water it was one decree higher. So, I would say this review isn't complete.
That's great that yours seems to be hitting the temperatures on the dot. Thanks for the extra insight with the breast milk. We don't have any to use at this moment to re-test to see if we have a similar experience, but glad to hear it works out
Does it defrost the milk storage as well?
Storage bag*
It does, but we didn’t use it so I can’t vouch for its performance
Very helpful, thank you!
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Same issue with the switches. Wait till you try and use the ASUS warranty. They truely try and f*** you over. For the money, I expected better from them. Would never recommend.
Sorry to hear your experience with their warranty service :(
I have it for 4 weeks now. 0 issues. Good for typing, or gaming. Doesn't have HE rapid trigger, but can have snap tap/SOCD via a simple script (wouldn't advise), and it doesn't make you a better player actually. I especially like the wireless, which gives me 2-3 months on 1 charge given I still have 73% since first charge ever. It has quality PBT caps, nice RGB, 0 flex top tier quality build, 0 difference of wired mode to Wi-Fi in games (no latency). I made tape mod and foam mod, and its kinda nice sounding, but was good even stock. The NX Reds are fine, but I just got me AKKO switches for 20$ and since its a custom hotswap board, it was easy. Stabs are the same, tho durock v2 wd be better. all is lubed, and you get lube and other in the box. 250$ is kinda too much, but trust me, the board is solid as a rock, 100x nicer looking in real life than on videos, feels and sounds great. I love the dial next to OLED for volume, brightness etc. OLED is a gimmick, I have it OFF. The best feature is key remapping, whichI assume all kbs support via key remap software, maybe not, idk. My F8, F9, F10, F11 and F12 keys control easy volume, mute, play, pause...Its so good, I almost never use the dial. There are only 2 things bad about this kb - ASUS Armory crate app and the fact the stock keycaps letters are BARELY visible even during day with max brightness, At night, its OK.
The EU doesn’t work too but thanks for the tip and the great video
Oh damn, that's a pity. Which country are you accessing it from? I'm glad you enjoyed the video, but a shame the tip didn't work for you. I hope you manage to find the right settings another way
From Poland you cannot connect to any other site than the regional one. In the end I asked chat gpt, however many website have this function now which makes no sense. Changing topic, do you happen to know anything about rockers like lionelo Bella or similar ? Thank a lot
Please help!! What is the first button? With numbers from 1-10?
@@pegy_sue2131 Hey, that's the button you use to adjust the ratio of powder-to-water. It should be available on your local baby brezza website "formula pro settings", but it doesn't seem to work everywhere. Reach out to their customer service with your brand and they should let you know. Or do what GioLeonTango smartly did and check with ChatGPT
Sounds like a bust. I've tried so many boards over the years and none have ever justified these insane prices. You can buy 4 crap keyboards for the price of these premium ones and the main difference is sound and feel.
That's very true. The sound, feel and wireless capability all are really top notch, but it is a hefty price. I went with the mindset, buy once cry once... but that didn't work out for me all that well this time around, cause of these switch issues :(
Razer huntsman v3 pro for gaming is by far my favorite board so far give it a shot
This is a very good video. After 13 years ill be a dad again. I needed this as a reminder since its been really a long time since I had my first kid. Thanks for this Mike.
Congratulations! Wishing you a lot of fun and joy with the little one, I'm glad my video was useful for you, thank you for the comment and kind words!
Double clicking, my greatest fear with mechanical switches.
It is a real pain when it happens. Fortunately, it is a rare occurrence, I just am one of the unlucky few it seems
I have been using the same keyboard for almost a year. I love it, but I couldn't get used to the red switches. After about half a year of using it, I had the same problem with the switches you mentioned. I replaced the factory switches with Glorious blue switches. Since then, it works perfectly, and I have no complaints about the keyboard. The only thing that bothers me is the Armoury Crate software; it could work much better, but other than that, I love my ROG Azoth keyboard.
Great to hear you love it! Shame about the experience with the switches though, but glad you found an alternative that's worked for you! Good call out on the Armoury Crate software. It does what it needs to do, but some refinement would really take it to the next level
Some additional feedback is our RF tuning via firmware alongside chipset offers outstanding low latency ( sub 1 ms ) alongside outstanding polling rate stability. If paired with our compatible ROG mice you can still maintain outstanding low latency and polling rate stability. While you may not appreciate or value the RGB the cost is not a factor essentially the RGB comes from free our focus was ensuring and outstanding mechanical switch with quality lubrication, housing material and internal mechanism for smooth, consistent and reduce wobble. Ultimately if you do not want lighting you can of course engage dark mode or simply use the FN+Arrow keys or also as you asked just change it to a static color. The AZOTH is also a premium enthusiast keyboard with DIY design elements that allow you to swap the switches should you want to entirely "bypass or remove RGB." In our community polling and overall surveys the majority want and like RGB but there is a high minitory who tend to be more causal gamers or not gamers who have picked up the AZOTH who do not like RGB. This is aligns more so with the users corresponding focus and devices used. The switch call out is appreciated but a non factor at this time. The model you are showing is old. These have not been a production for some time. All current production models of the AZOTH use our new ROG NX Snow or Storm switchs which are notable upgrade in every way compared to the prior first generation switch. You can considerably improved the first gen switch by manually lubing it but this is not needed in the current NX SNOW/STORM version of the switch. The additional switches were not provided due to a "non reliability factor" but purely as premium inclusion and for the fact users who have never disasembly or lubed a switch ( which a kit is included with the AZOTH ) will mess up and damage a switch, as such we included "backup". The tolerances of the switch production including for the first generation are actually higher than industry standard at + or - 5 gram force and have a reliability MTBF testing standard that is key high so the failure you experience would be out of the norm. The rated lifespan is 100million ( notebly higher than many other switches ) regardless we are sadden and surprised that you did have an early than expected failure. The fact you having so many failures though could be an indicator of something else and I would look to consider sending the unit for RMA or reaching out to our service and support team. Again this type of failure rate is highly out of the norm. Also if you have an AMD system you also may have a USB bug that may require UEFI BIOS updating. With this noted due to the PCB design you can swap out to an alternate switch of switches which there are any extensive array of. Currently we do not sell the new ROG NX Snow or Storm switches so you cannot purchase these, but again please reach out to our service and support team if you have not. If you want to purchase a set check out Amazon in your region and look for Akko a quality switch provider at lower cost than some of the more ultra premium switch but have good construction, sound profile and an array of choices ( linear or tactile and even silent options ). Another option if you want a tactile is the EPOMAKER Budgerigar. ROG NX Snow mechanical switches utilize composite POM material for the stem with PC top housing and POM bottom housing to provide ultra smooth keystrokes, and the walled stem design enhances stability and prevents dust intrusion. Special tuning is also done, coupled with factory pre-lubing, to give the ROG NX Snow keystroke a very solid and clean sound, with “thocky” acoustics. Thanks for your feedback if you have further questions feel free to reach out to our team.
Hey ASUS team! Thank you so much for watching my video and providing such a lengthy and detailed feedback that sheds a very appreciated perspective on the topics. I want to tackle them all so I’ll respond in a categorized way 😊 1) Latency: Agree on the low latency, and perhaps I didn’t call it out enough in the video, but I never felt like the keyboard was at fault when I died in games and it was more due to my own response time than input lag. 2) RGB: It’s interesting to me that RGB “comes for free”. I guess my mindset comes from the fact that with other products (like Philips hue lights) going for the base color range (yellow/whites) is cheaper than getting the full RGB capable product. But perhaps this is a sourcing topic and it’s cheaper to buy a lot of one, than split it across two (RGB and non-RGB). Especially when your polls indicate the majority are RGB enthusiasts and that non-RGB/monotone is a high minority (enough to get a category, but not enough to warrant adjusting product design for 😊) The static color is indeed what I have opted to go for, with 50% brightness slightly off-white color to provide a very gentle white glow. Thanks for pointing out how this is done as I completely passed over this in the video. 3) Switch Failures: I’m happy to hear that the lifespan from testing is as long as it is and that it appears that I unfortunately have a product that falls well outside of the expected failure rate and performance desired. I’ll be looking to RMA the keyboard with my retailer asap. I do not have an AMD system, but thanks for calling that out, because I was not aware of this issue and I’m sure someone out there will benefit from knowing about this. Also, thanks for providing context to the original motivation to provide 3 more switches. I can imagine there are many beginner enthusiasts who are delighted and relieved that they have some back up switches when they accidentally damaged a switch during disassembly. 4) SNOW/STORM upgrade: I don’t entirely agree that my switch call out can be categorized as “a non-factor at this time”. The model I have is less than 2 years old, and whilst an upgrade to the switches has been introduced (Snow & Storm), the fact is that in markets like mine (the Netherlands) the vast majority of retailers only stock the “old” Red switch models (Today - 30.10.2024 - I could only find one retailer that has the NX Snow switches and it comes in the white model - Azerty.nl). So, while the US market now exclusively has new switches, this is probably not the average experience for all consumers in the global marketplace and in my opinion the topic remains relevant. I very much appreciate the shout out to Akko and EPOMAKER Budgerigar. Being new to this scene I am not familiar with which brands and switches are the ‘ones to get’ so thank you for providing some worthy alternatives to consider. Thank you again for your response, I look forward to when my product comes back from RMA and I can give an update on the process and performance of the product. Like I said in the review, I love the feel and sound of the switches, it’s just the lack of reliable performance that has hindered me from thoroughly enjoying it to the max - if you change your mind about selling the NX Snow switches separately, I’ll be first in line to buy a batch 😊
Is there a Likelihood for Azoth 1.5 aka Southfacing version than the default Northfacing PCB? Just a helpful note that most 'Keeb enthusiasts' like it more if it is southfacing. I am enjoying the current Azoth but that's just my preference on having Southfacing pcb.
Have this keyboard in white with the NX Snow switches. Figured it was a good middle ground between a custom keyboard, while not jumping into it just yet. This keyboard has potentially been the best upgrade I have made to my setup in years and have absolutely no regrets about it even though I was initially hesitant to pay $250 for a keyboard . The switches honestly are perfect in terms of sound and feel to me, and I have not experienced any of the issues you mentioned with them just yet(I have had it for about a year as well). While I am not sure if you can actually buy the snow switches individually, I am sure if you email Asus they may give you the option to, at least other companies occasionally do that. Regardless, with it being hot-swappable there are probably 20 other switches equivalent to them if not better if you're looking for the same feel and sound. On a site note: this video was extremely high quality for your sub count, honestly was shocked to see you have less than 100. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your comment and perspective! I also bought this keyboard for that exact same reason, and was loving it until some of the switches started bugging out. I'm very keen to try the snow switches in person some day, I only hear good things :D Also really appreicate your side note, hopefully I'll be north of the 100 soon xD
I have the same keyboard with the nxSnow and really love it. I bought it recently so i`m glad to hear that you didn`t have issues with it using it a year.
@@pinkster112 thats awesome! hope you enjoy it and you have no issues as well
Ehi, did you update your keyboard's firmware yet? In some (very) rare occasions it does double click but could also be me, I still need to get used to the typing experience of the keyboard. (1 month user, NX Snow White board)
@@al96n My keyboard is on the latest firmware, however I have never encountered any of the double clicking issues other people had. I do constantly take the keycaps off and clean out the inside to get any debris and stuff every couple weeks or so. Maybe that could play a factor. The keys also have an extremely fast accentuation time, much faster than other keyboards I've tried, so I also tend to misclick very easily because of it. I believe there's a setting in Armoury Crate to reduce it? Not sure if any of that could help with the double clicking, but it's worth a shot if all else fails.
I been using mine for hours everyday still love it so fking much ! Cant enjoy others now. Im on snow switches
That's awesome, I'd really love to give the snow switches a try and see how they compare to the reds
i’m ur first view
🥳 thanks for tuning in!
What alternative warmer did you decide to use?
We use the MyBambini's bottle warmer - it's a great portable one and we take it everywhere we go. For home we also have the Baby Brezza Formula Advanced pro, which is a really convenient, but quite expensive option. Shameless plug - check out the reviews of both the products on my channel if you're interested :)
Awesome! Take in consideration that the water have a lower density than the milk and this is why the temperature rose up to 42 in your experiment. If it was a milk you tested I believe it will be around 37 degrees. But the problem with the warming up time will remain the same in both cases, i mean, it’ll take longer than 3 minutes to reach the ideal temperature. Nice an honest review, thank you!
Not the case, we are warming up formula with ours and the temperature is also rising above 42 celsius. Not good. It actually gets hot like Mike says and if you don't test, you can pretty much hurt your baby. Not cool Phillips.
Thanks for the feedback! And very interesting tip. I'm curious to see if that's the case, we don't have any more breastmilk to try it with, but I'll do it with some regular whole milk and see if it warms up differently than water :)
I couldn't see the Elgato Arm in the video. You just showed the Rode.
True, in the talking head shots I mostly used the Rode, and when I did use the elgato I didn't change the angle, so you couldn't really see it in action. There are b-roll shots of the Elgato during the video where I show what I'm talking about, for example the clamp, the magnetic guard rails for easy wire routing and the easily adjustable head to mount the mic on. Thanks for watching the review and for your feedback!
Great stuff man, gave me all the info I needed
Awesome, thank you!

love the review.....!!!!!super helpful in my hunt for the right arm...!!!!!!!
Happy to have helped
Love this! Super helpful to see what you have in your bag. 🙏

Love the minimalistic approach
Hi Mike, I loved your video on the scent box! I was wondering, how long do the scents from the box remain good, and do they stay consistent over time? Thanks!
Thanks Jesse! Great question, we have had the box for 3 years and up to now we haven't noticed any deterioration of the scents. We are relatively casual users though and on average take it out about once a month over the past years, so I'm not sure how heavy usage could have an impact. What I do recommend to extend the quality of the scents is to make sure you keep the caps with their original scent to avoid cross contamination. I am curious now if we just haven't noticed the minor change in scent, so in case I ever find a friend or someone close by who gets a fresh box I'll test ours side by side to see if we notice a difference :D
Thanks for the detailed review!
Thanks, my pleasure!
Kinda sounds like apples and oranges. There's an Elgato Wave that's not an LP, same as the Røde.
You're not wrong :) I kind of did two birds with one stone in this video: high vs low profile and rode vs elgato. But, like you say, kind of ends up a bit like apples vs oranges. A rode vs elgato high profile arm comparison would indeed be a more direct comparison if you're looking for which brand's style and build is better for you. Thanks for the perspective
Great breakdown, you answered all my questions, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice review 👍
Thanks!
Thanks Mike! Great insights 🎉 Can’t wait for more!
Thanks man!! Appreciate it
Great review!
Thanks!
Where can I get it please
Great review! You'll grow fast if you keep this up!
Thanks! That's the plan :)
This is the best review of those two on UA-cam and the guy is a nobody. The review is full of personal experience wich make it much more valuable I was gonna by the LP because it doesn’t show everywhere on the screen while recording. But now that I see the shittu versatility you make me save a lot of time and energy Thanks for that!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm happy that my perspective was able to help you make a more informed decision and get you what you needed :)
Nice video. I personally use the Wave LP and mainly because my personal setup has 3 monitors and with a traditinal mic arm like the PSA1 it quite literally is in the way of a side monitor. I have my Wave LP coming from underneath my middle monitor and its completly out of my way when i dont need it. It's by far the best mic arm for people looking to solve an uncommon issue lol.
Thank you! You bring up a very good niche case, can totally imagine a high arm like the rode would totally not work in a 3 monitor setup. I'm curious, would you ever swap out your 3 monitor setup for an ultra wide screen?
THRONMAX Twist S6
Thanks! Was not aware this product existed
What about comparing PSA-1 with Elgato high profile?
Good idea, hadn't considered that yet
I have both and much prefer the elgato as it's cleaner. I'm probably going to buy another one and put the rode into a drawer lol
Nice! The Elgato definitely has a much more clean and subtle look to it, especially with that cable management, glad you like it! What are you buying the second one for? Guest/co-host mic mount, or just nice to have a back-up?
