Do you miss being in an English classroom? and I am not talking about the having to take tests and write essays. I mean being able to sit and listen to your teacher and your peers discuss books and to put your heads together to create meaning. Well that is what I am trying to recreate on my Channel. I create videos about books that do more than summarize what happen. I dig deep into plot structure, character development, and the themes of the book. We will discuss meaningful quotes and look at moments in the book that really matter. I love books, and I love talking about books. So come join my community of book lovers and subscribe to this channel.

Send us a text (www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2330004/open_sms) The Great Alone is a Semi Autobiographical novel about Kristin Hannah and her life in Alaska. Written initially as a thriller, this coming of age was a beautiful tribute to Alaska and mother daughter relationships. This is one of my favorite Kristin Hannah books because of the dynamics and the characterization. In this ep...

We have so many stories of men at war. The heroes that were made and the lives that were lost. However, Kristen Hannah does a great job at telling the stories that have been largely ignored and untold. The stories of the women who lived through these wars and who fought and died for their countries as well. In the novel the Nightingale we hear about two of these women who lived in France during...

Eve was not "forced" to go back to Rene, she actually had an "out" but thought it was in the best interest of the war to return due to the valuable information she is able to extrapolate.
great video - loved how in depth this analysis was!
Loved the analysis
Did you love the book as much as I did?
Rodriguez Donald Garcia Jose Davis Sandra
I happened on your video while researching this book. Love your analysis, quotes and summary of the book. I agree. The book was incredibly well written and absolutely made me think in a different way about this war, women friendships, family and survival. Thanks for putting in the time and effort.
So happy to have found your channel as an English class misser

.We all have a blind spot, right? That bit of incorrect information from childhood that mysteriously never gets updated, the person who makes it to thirty-five believing that unicorns had been hunted into extinction.” “Wait, unicorns weren’t hunted . . .” He smiled at me, tipping his head to one side as if to say I was adorable, as in, I was to be adored. Hi How would you interpret the play-word in " was adorable ,as in, I was to be adored." Please
Nice
Nice
I live in rural MI, and June is a very familiar character. I actually think its frightening how many people have this narcissistic or anti-social understanding of the world.
Great analysis of the book!
Thanks for listening
Thanks.
You are doing a fantastic job . Wishing you all the success.
Thank you so much!
I decided against going to my upcoming book club because I didn’t read the book. Can you please suggest to me one of your most favorite books to hold my attention well as I read it? Thank you sooo much. ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
Sorry for the late response. What types of books do you like? My book club is reading the wishing game this month.
You did such a wonderful job summarizing this book. Thank you so much Sam! I read your beautiful advice about listening to the audiobook and I love your idea! I hit subscribe to your channel and look forward to more of your videos. I hope you have a blessed day. ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤thank you again.
I think I’m the only person who read this that really liked Sadie’s character. Sam bothered me much more.
I liked them both equally. Both of them were equal parts annoying and endearing
I agree that the climax wasn’t realistic at all. After being so careful, I can’t imagine June screaming the truth out like that. With that said, I LOVED this book. So many of the lines hit really hard. I actually thought some of her rationalization were, while cringy, still believable. “I’m helping her finish it” turning into not having any issues cutting huge chunks of it out on the editor’s floor.
The man's name was Henry not Danny
Yes. I realized that way too late! Thanks for pointing that out.

I really don't get what this author's thesis is. She often seems to be talking about the injustices of the publishing industry, and yet she's been very successful since she was 20 years old. She's a good writer, but that's often overshadowed by the statements she wants to make.
maybe she's using her fame and influence to open up the publishing industry to public scrutiny, which will intern balance the scales enough for writers to gain control and therefore allow writers to compete more fairly and be judged by their work(s) rather than their social status. maybe she was affected by this oppression before her fame, and she still feels that its wrong, even after her fame. maybe she wants to make it better for others, because she can do what she wants now
I really enjoyed this video, and I appreciated how carefully you thought through it. But, personally, I have a very different take. If Donald Trump is a real dude, with levels of denial, deceit, and egotism that are just off the charts, then June feels completely realistic to me.
You make an excellent point. I guess she just wasn't relatable to me.
Great recommendations. I'll have to check out The Daevabad Trilogy... and Hello Beautiful... and The Seven Year Slip... and The Will of The Many. Too many books and not enough time!
This book is one of my all time favorites- compelling! Interesting plot and characters. Five stars for me too.
I read the Last White Man by Mohsin Hamid, Circe by Madeline Miller and The Alice Network by Kate Quinn. I'm reading The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Hamel right now.
I really liked the Alice Network. Have you read any other books by Kate Quinn?
Perhaps you would consider reading the new novel THE HUNTER by Tan French.
I haven't read that book. I will definitely look into it.
@@AccordingtoyourEnglishteacher She is a much better writer.
Too many cuts
Yes Sam!!!!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
