VIDEO - Adding country flags (or any other icons) at the end of bar charts as a way of communicating data insights is something you can achieve by creating a dual axis chart between (bar chart and shapes) - in which case the icons (the country flags) are added at the end of the bars. Glad it helped you.
This is great , thank you! Is it possible to show how to show leave a blank for Null values? I have a couple Nulls and it shows a down arrow. Thanks mate!
You can create a custom (transparent) icon or button and use it to present the nulls.
Hello, do you have what's phone number?
Hi, I followed it to the T, but i got the target in the bar and the actual in the line, how do i switch it pls?
Simply right-click on the axis and choose 'Swap Reference Line Fields', I hope this helps.
Nice tutorial, thank you!!
You welcome Miftahur!
BIG THANKS. very helpful and easy to follow.
Thanks Erica.
You can simplify this by using Absolute Value so you don't have to do the Or Negative branch. IF ABS(SUM([values]))>=1000 AND ABS(SUM([values]))<1000000 and so on... In some places/viz types it won't work, though, as far as I've seen (I think it's because it's a string), so in that case you have to build a separate field for each magnitude (one for K, M, B, and <1k) where it only shows if it meets the range, else null, then put all of those together one after the other so only the correct one shows.
Well said Dave. Thanks.
you are a life saver... much appreciated...
Glad this helped you. Thanks for your feedback.
Good workaround, but this is why Tableau absolutely sucks. the UI may look sleek but it's so unfriendly and misses some very easy functionality like making one line dotted. Power BI stays on top because at the end of the day it's just way easier and has these simple features.
Some say its unfriendly, others enjoy the process. Glad you liked the explanation. Thanks.
This was really helpful and quick to do! Thanks for the vid! Next time I will try switching up the icons! So cool!
Thanks for your feedback L BL.
Thank you brother! New subscriber!
Its good to have you @pa sheikh ngom
First ever video I've watched on doughnut charts in Tableau and you teach the steps so perfectly! Thanks!
Thanks Danny
hi thanks for the video. it truly helps a beginner like me. I am using the 2019 version, i have tried but the "out" is not appearing. May i know the 2 tables (orders, returns) joined using what condition (left join, inner, right, or full outer?) thank you.
In this case I'm using relationships - for your case you can use LEFT join (by keeping all data from Orders table and the matching orders from returns table).
Excellent!! Something new I learnt
Glad you learned something. Thanks.
Thank you for making this video, it's helpful
Glad you found this helpful. thanks
Thank you for sharing. I love this ❤

Why doesn't my tableau give me the option for more shapes? I'm using Tableau desktop public
The options are available both in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Public. Probably you can restart your application and try again.
@@rigordatasolutions254 I have restarted and I still do not have the option to choose more shapes. Do I have to upload button images?
@@kingdomofisrael6486 am experiencing challenges with my Tableau Public (i think I need to update it first)...Therefore I can''t generate a screen shot on that option in Tableau Public...But its available, have used it many times. You don't need to upload the icons but rather save them under Tableau repository as demonstrated above.
@@rigordatasolutions254 Do I need to download the Tableau server?
@@kingdomofisrael6486 No, just sign up and create your profile to start publishing dashboards..... Find the link: public.tableau.com/app/discover
Excellent mate! This is super precise and helpful! Keep it up!!!
Thanks Mani Freddie.
Great tutorial! If you cannot see the flags after adding them to the repository close and open tableau.
Thanks. I believe that should work too. Or simply reload the shapes.
Short and sweet. Thanks!
Thanks Byron.
Hello, is this possible to do on a time series chart ?
Yes this will be applicable in any labelling scenario. You can give it a trial and see.
Interesting, thank you.
Thanks for your feedback!
Perfect! Thank you for the easy solution.
Thanks Marianne.
This is really simple and awesome! How can you highlight the delta value in view?(difference between actual and target)
There are several ways to show the gap... you can show it on the tooltip or as labels. Or you can build entire chart to visualize the gap while at the same time tracking the other values.
Thank you!!
You welcome
Amazing..!
Thanks
hi ! when i use parameter of a string with a float measure in the calculated field i get " the calculation contains errors" expected type string found float , can u help ?
if you've written the calculation as shown at this point ua-cam.com/video/cToAHha8WVs/v-deo.html, I don't think you should be getting any error. Can you share a screenshot of your calculation?
@@rigordatasolutions254 i fixed it , there was an extra space which i didn't notice
Your videos are awesome... Keep it up...
Glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for your feedback.
If the achievement rate is over than 100%, but the fount chart is not fulfilled 100%, that looks like it’s not completed, but it’s not actually, any suggestion how to fix that bug?
Kindly check-out the type of aggregation you're using - could be the reason your chart shows a lesser value. If for your case, the achievement rate exceeds 100%, then you should factor that when computing the difference (may be you could compute it as 2.0 - % complete - assuming the maximum achievable rate is 200%). Check-out other ways of visualizing actual performance against the target: ua-cam.com/video/Z__ycDv_GF8/v-deo.html
The solution that I found for this was this calculation: if [Difference]<0 then 0 else [Difference] END Just use this field instead of the difference field. This will fill the chart up to 100%. Hope this helps!
