In the Bible, there are occasions when godly people do something questionable because their understanding of the ethics was not properly formed. Rahab the prostitute was commended even though she lied. Abraham’s lies were not considered faith. It almost sounds like situation ethics, but the heart is the issue. Peter is another example. He is right in his defense of Christ when He announced his suffering and death. But dead wrong in implications. Begg is right in wanting to see the people saved, but wrong in implications by all appearances. Martin Luther wanted to throw out the book of James from the Canon. But how many orthodox theologians today proscribe him? I think the judgments that people place on speakers who say questionable things today are more part of a gut reaction than a heartfelt concern. And it’s fashionable today in both political and theological spaces. Somebody’s got to break the mold.

Did the disciples "fall away"? Yes, and No... There are two different types of "falling away" in scripture, similar to how their are two different types of "Faith" in scripture. Hebrews 6 is refrencing something different than romans 11 when it says they are cut off but can be restored. Much like the prodigal son that could be restored upon repenting, there is a time period after falling away in which Chirst searches after his sheep. If you STAY HARDENED and never "Come to your senses" while in a non-justified state, you are barred from coming back. So you were first cut-off/lost/ fallen away when you "wandered" from the Lord. But you are PERMANENTLY cut-off/lost/ fallen away if you CONTINUE to stay hardened and refuse to come back. So we need to consider our current state and turn back while there is still time 🙏 Mark 14:27 NIV *"You will all fall away,”* Jesus told them, “for it is written: “ 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.' Luke 8:13 NIV Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing *they fall away.*

In my opinion, of all the relevant reactions I have watched, yours was the only one that showed true grace, even though you do not agree with Begg's advice. Can you share a little about yourself? Very good analysis. Deuteronomy 29:29. I believe that there are things in the Scriptures that are not fully revealed to us. I choose to believe that my God who is all merciful, all loving and also, completely just, will judge these people according to the light they had received and how well they followed their own standards. I do not know whether or not they will go to heaven or hell. What I do know is that no one will be able to tell God that He is unjust in His judgments. It would be good and acceptable to the Lord if all the Pharisees got off Pastor Beggs case. As Jesus sat with the publicans and sinners He had compassion on the woman at the well and the woman caught in the very act. Compassion and mercy are required in this cases

We do know how those in the time before Christ are saved. They are saved in believing in God Yahweh. They go to Sheol where it’s divided into two with a separation what cannot be crossed over. Jesus teaches that He is the way the truth and life, and that no man comes unto the Father except by Him. This Truth supercedes everything else. The fact that God declares this is the garantee that it is True. How this is accomplished is of course, according to the counsel of His Own Will. To trust in His Word and to embrace the Salvation that is readily available to us, is of the utmost importance to humanity. I think that it would be absurd to say to God that I did not believe the gospel because I did not know how it applied to those that never heard it! ( Who can say with assurance that anyone NEVER has heard the gospel?) I highly recommend Deuteronomy chapter 29 verse 29!

Your analysis is very sound. Keep up the good work! Tony Evans is not a heretic, but putting the cart before the horse is dangerous. The Bible teaches not to add or take away. And it's best to remain silent about those things that are neither inferred nor explicitly revealed in the Scriptures. No man can come to the Father except through his son. That is plain enough for believers to teach. As for Islam, Hinduism, Mormonism, Catholicism, etc., these are false religions set up by the devil and therefore devoid of salvation. No one who adheres to such systems is safe. They are victims of deception. Christ came to set the captives free and to call those who are being deceived to see the light. Not everyone who is deceived will have the opportunity to see the light. And as you rightly pointed out, no man can survive God's Justice, so it is IMPOSSIBLE to come to him through any other way but the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Above all, when Christ tells us he is the way, what pastor in their right mind would want to dance around that? Are they suggesting Christ did not tell the whole truth about the way?
