We are Believers is a project run by Daria Hackenberg and Hollis P Monroe.
This podcast is rooted in philosophical theory, as well as real world practice, to be affirmed or challenged throughout our conversations.
We are believers in ideas, people, and the power of love.
We are not trying to change your mind. We only express what we believe as we do not claim to know. Along the way, we try to show how wonderful you are, in case you forget it and share with you our doubts and wonderings.

Who should pay on the first date?
Переглядів 343 роки тому
“Does a man have to pay on a first date?” People on the street were asked this question by actors from a popular German comedy show but the answers they received in the actual segment were not nearly as interesting as comments under the video. One man had such a particularly grandiose justification of his position that we had no choice but to devote an entire episode to giving our take on his p...

Comparing yourself to others. The line between comparison and competition.
Переглядів 134 роки тому
Almost every day, we compare ourselves to other people. Often we take someone as an example of what we think we should be. We want to be able have what they have or do what they do. And very often, we become upset or jealous because we are not as beautiful, successful, or happy as someone else seems to be. We can look at Hollywood celebrities, famous musicians or worldclass atheletes as benchma...

Another great convo! I agree that we view through our own lens and our perceptions typically have more to do with our own experiences. I've felt misunderstood by many, yet true connections have been effortless with others. We are complex and layered and maybe the people that 'get us' easily are looking from a similar lens. Those are my people!! I recently had an eye-opening convo with a friend re: boundaries and the way they were 'used to me being' vs how I'm different now and they can't seem to accept it. So many follow-up topics as usual.... 🔥
