During a cold spell I used a camp stove to keep young plants from freezing.
Waste Vegetable Oil Burner
Переглядів 67 тис.9 років тому
This waste oil burner is built using various pipe fittings and a Delavan siphon nozzle. I start it on propane then switch to only waste oil. You can attach a blower to the top tee to force air into the burner for a cleaner burn. The burner can be attached too either a water jacket for hot water heat or forced air heat.
Starting the Waterloo Boy 1/15/15

The Waterloo Boy needed to be moved from the shop over to the museum so we took advantage of the nice weather last week.
昔の耕うん機みたいなエンジン丿始動の仕方。
I can’t help but wonder how many people got whopped by the crank when one of these started.
To get a hotel flame try putting two pieces of stainless inside the tube in a + a little longer tube could help .to change the orange flame to a hotter blue . I have even seen ware the final out put pipe they put holes in it to burn more fule . Nice video.
Nice! Please help me to burn coal water fuel by a simple burner🙏
That was built back in the day that the way you could tell the good farmers from the bad ones was to see if they had all their fingers.
I thought this a steam engine tractor...?
A rather unorthodox arrangement of the nozzle, but once stripped to the components i could see its a pretty good way of running it. The only criicism i have is running the fuel supply in this way is NOT syphon, but gravity fed which pretty much kills the concept of a delavan nozzle. The fuel is supposed to be drawn up to the burner tip by suction (syphon effect) ratrher than getting there by gravity. I feel much better burner control could be achieved if it was operated in the manner its been designed.
I own a restaurant and this would be perfect for my hoop house. I was thinking of having the sun heat water in tank(s) so that would act as a heat sink throughout the night. But after watching this, I think I just need to have a smaller oil intake and then just keep enough oil it it so it runs out at about dawn. I'd be scared to have it to heat inside a living structure because of CO and potential of accident. But I love this, and thank you for posting it.
you have the intake and exhaust feed to the outside of the property, and to heat the building you have heater pipes in the burner case that will circulate clean air in the building.
Could someone tell me all the parts I need for this
Pretty cool. I've been planning on building one for a few years now but so many things going on haven't gotten around to. I have probably 20 some gallons of used vegetable & motor oil collected I need to get rid of.
Very Nice 👍. Very good 🌎
Nice Tractor and a Thumbs Up liked.
How small will the flame be just on veggie oil
The burner is just running on veggie oil. I use the propane to get it started and then turn it off once the burner is hot.
@@marshal3157 what is the smallest flame you can get on veggie oil so it can be used in a kiln to fire pottery as a big flame on start would break the pots thanks
What year is it
1918
Screw this cranking, get the Mules! LOL
Thanks for sharing👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍
That's so cool ,is that the 1915 or what ,what ever it pretty perfect shape.
It would have been good to state when it was made! I know it's old! One of the first production tractors! Is this original or replica?
This is a nice easy design, but lacks oil hearing for evaporation that might result in a better burn. Will definitely appreciate your input on this.
It does not syphon oil it gravity feeds in this design, and there is the main problem, its hard to regulate the flow in this set up.
This is impressive how does it light up so easy. I built my burner and im having little trouble running on pure oil but burned succesfuly with some petrol mixed
The burner was already hot and the oil was warm. It took me awhile to get the air to oil mix correct
@@marshal3157 thanks for replying, i managed to fire mine yesterday and it ran great just needs good preheating and nice flame to start
I think shutting down with propane would keep it cleaner inside. Notice the smoke, incomplete combustion, as you turned it off? I know you verbally gave a parts list. If you wrote them down in the detail section of the video, you could get a commission when we purchased the items thru Amazon.
Complicated
My o my, that is one sweet machine !
Having started a large number of crank start cars, and a fair number of prop-crank aircraft, I reckon that crank technique is asking to get your thumbs broken, your arms dislocated, or get thrown across the shed. Lovely old machine though.
Sweet!!
My grandfather was the first in his county to own a tractor, and it was a Waterloo Boy. I found a ring gear that went to it, but no other parts so it probably got scrapped during WWII.
I am guessing you afe to start them on gasoline then switch over to Kerosene when the engine is warm. They don't have any open gear grease in the ring gears and pinions ..
My Grandfather said when he was in High school there was always a couple of guys with their arms in a sling .. Same Principle applies to tractors that don't have power steering never warp your thumbs around the steering wheel .. leave them on top of the wheel so they don't get broke off if you hit a rock or a woodchuck hole .. Some things still apply today kick starting my 400 CC dirt bike find compression stroke wear heavy boots if you open the throttle and kick and can throw you over the handle bars..
Are you sure that the arms in a sling was not from cranking engines! Talk about kick back! They make it look easy and safe, it is not! There were many injuries from cranking tractor, cars and airplane propellers. There is a good reason why they all went to electric starters!
With way it runs, almost sounds could have been built today. They were definitely made a lot better then and too last. Compared too the electrical systems today where nearly can't do anything at home or in the feild anymore.
I would disagree on many pointes.. Open gears in the wheels with no luge on them running right in the dirt .. Open valve terrain components right in the dust .. The Next Generation of tractors that had enclosed gear boxes and enclosed differentials and axles shafts with enclosed wheel bearing was a huge improvement .. I also noticed a chain type steering system .
1/15/15??????. There is no 15 month, when was this actually made.
callum hardy Jan. 15, 2015
callum hardy Easy mistake, especially if you live outside of the US. In my day job I use yyyymmdd(20150115) a lot.
international standard. US civilians are pretty much the only people who go month/day/year
They way he was haphazardly cranking that, if it back fires he is in trouble! Great Vid otherwise
Lol that is one of the 1st tractors :)
Not really - Fords, Austins and Saundersons, amongst others, were churning out quite decent machines, some of which looked a LOT more modern than the Waterloo Boy
Gets pretty bad when thoes crankes kick back!
its funny watching people that have no clue how to properly hand crank a tractor. sir u were one backfire away from serious pain
shssniper Lucky I was behind the camera, I've seen them kick back before
shssniper yea he wasn't holding that handle right. If it would've kicked he'd have a broken bone in his thumb.
What is the correct method?
oldschoolgreentube always hold the handle with your thumb on the same side as your index finger that way if it kicks it'll just jump out of your hand instead of breaking your thumb bone.
Small but important detail. I assume that applies to any vehicle you are hand cranking, Model T for example?
Hello, I'm trying to get a waste oil burner going to blow down into my Hot Tub boiler. With a secodary air blower and a longer (1 yard or so) burn pipemaybe this could work. Do you think it would be possible for you to do some sort of schematic drawing (no need for fancy stuff) so I can go to my plumbing supplies place and get the stuff to do this? I would be very grateful, as it's not too clear from your film clip. love it btw!
100 years old... wow..
Spark plugs and a Kerosene tank?????
It is an All-fuel engine, you start it on gas and when it gets up to temp, about 180 degrees, you can switch it to kerosene or any other heavy fuel.
Most old tractors back then were started on petrol (gas) and when warm were switched over to kero - used to make quite a bang if you did it too soon. Made for an easier start
yeah they started on gasoline then switched to kerosene after the engine was running.
Hi could You make me one I would pay u
Sorry, I don't have the time.
How old is Waterloo Boy?
Daniel Bailey 1918
What psi air pressure did you have your best results, please.
5 to 10 psi If the pressure was to high it would blow the flame out.
lovely tractor but must have been a challenge to start for a short person!
The air for combustion is provided by two means, the line from your compressor is one, th other is the stream entering the upper tee, flowing then trough the second tee, so there are two right angles in the trajectory of this stream wich reduces the amount of air and you will have oil without burn.
Not so. The burner air comes straight out of the delavan fitting, straight into the combustion tube, and the secondary air enters behind the delavan fitting also, so all airstreams are actually behind the point of combustion, which is just in front of the tip of the delavan fitting.
The oi indstry has been putting any waste products into gasoline for years! Thus catalytic converters!! we would all be dead by now, f not for them!
John deere tractors ancestor awesome
Sold in the UK by Ferguson - so a direct line to Massey Ferguson too !
I think they were labeled as overtime tractors and were painted dark green with orange wheels
I imagine Plant vegetable oil) could be used as a heat source inside a house) with no need for exhaust outside) for it wouldn't give off Harmful carbon toxins, as waste Motor oil, kerosene ect)
Not wise, un-burned oil residues, CO, (carbon monoxide!!), or explosive mixtures can result!!
You're a special kind of stupid aren't you?
vegetable oil Is eatable idiot?) vs kerosene)
What happens when you burn things? Anything really? It creates CO. An that sir can kill you. IDIOT!!!
@@5annent Most of us aren't doing this to eat the fire.
What's the fuels consumption of the burner?
I'm not sure, I have never rated it. The nozzle is 1 gallon per hour, but when it's turned up I think it is burning more than that.
@@marshal3157 It burns more than that as you are gravity feeding the oil

what's size nozzle for this burner
Kees Staps this is Delavan nozzle #30609-11 and a nozzle adapter #17147. I got mine from patriot-supply.com They have a spec sheet that will give you all flow rates for 3,4 or 5 PSI air.
Thanks will look for the parts
