Our Story: Orange Lake Nursery Orange Lake Nursery began its journey in 2020 when Frank fell in love with the unique Gulf Coast landscape. Its lush deep greens, vibrant reds, and candy cane oranges immediately caught his eye. Growing up in Maryland, you could always find Frank playing in the extensive garden his family planted yearly. Florida is quite the change from the Red Maple trees and Chr...

Hello
Hi new friend Thanks for sharing this nice video
Why on these tissue cultures? Is that node where the roots come out black? I’ve tried these three times and all three times, the roots turned to mush, and the patios begin to rot off one by one I don’t get it. I’m following every Care instruction and going above and beyond being clean and giving it the proper environment to thrive.
It sounds like the medium is too wet. If you'd like to send us an email with photos, we'd be happy to take a look & help with some suggestions
I live in Baltimore
I had this issue, my plants get shipped to the boonies in SoCal. I root trimmed & left only healthy foliage on my platelets & ALL are thriving. TC’s can regrow roots & foliage, I like to do 50/50 perlite & stratum in a diy grow box w/ a grow light. Grow box humidity is about 85, so I only use humidity domes around each plantlet the 1st 4 weeks or until all have recovered. If a leaf gets rot, chop it, spray w/ peroxide, soak the plants in anti fungal for 5 min after you rinse the gel off, then rinse & soak 5 min in water, finally, if you have root hormone, dip the root or root ball in it & plant in your chosen substrate. You want to see humidity in the done but make sure theres NO standing water in reservoir. When I have to water them, I dilute liquid feed to 25%. OLN are my favorite nursery, the owners are down to earth & always willing to help, this gentleman talked me through root trimming during a hurricane! Customer for life! Alli
I do!!! I can't wait! I have three coming
Ahhh I just purchased a gorgeous alocasia varigated black velvet. I love it!
That is amazing! If you need any assistance, just reach out!
Hello mam you also do tissue culture in you nursery?
What is the composition of your mix ?thanks
It is a mix of chunky coco, fine coco, & perlite. With just a little bit of worm castings :-)
For me it’s mainly alocasias and variegated ones
💓💓💓
Absolutely! We will add it to our list 😀
Can you do a video on deflasking alocasia tcs please!
Why is the gel purple or grey looking I purchased a TC from yall recently. Is is bad should I worry?
Hi! No need to worry :-) It is just activated charcoal. It washes right off when you deflask the plant. It helps promote healthy root growth@
@@orangelakenursery7491 awesome thank you so much i appreciate the information.
❤ I love plants 😊
Beautiful ❤
Do you ship to Mexico?
We unfortunately only ship within the United States
Is the middle a sponge for washing dishes?
If my average humidity is 81% according to the weather station 8 feet above my roof, would I need the dome for humidity?
Great question! Yes absolutely. They will need to be in 100% humidity for about a week. You will still need humidity domes :-)
How much does a plant of this size cost?
Our Thais are currently $12 :-)
yo damn it took so fkn long and so many ads to get to the damn point.
I am sorry to hear that! The ads are all UA-cam. I wish we could control them! Sorry for any inconvenience!
y’all got price’s groundnut or nah
I'm sorry I don't understand. We'd be happy to help but we're a bit confused.
@@orangelakenursery7491 it’s a plant, you guys would know if you had it. no worries
@@halallionaire Sorry! Yea that is not something we carry :-(
I have to remember it's your time zone not mine 😭🤣
Is it safe to ship with 90°+ weather? I've been wanting to order but super scared😅
As long as the plants are brought inside once they are delivered, they should be just fine!
Agleonoma Pictum tricolor please please please!! ❤
They are about 2 weeks away!
@@orangelakenursery7491 are they going to be the 4 inch? Or tissue culture??
Do y’all sell anything medium to go with your TC?
We do! We sell both our medium & potting plugs 😀
Thinking about getting a red Congo var. idk tho my tc is doing so good I got so maybe soon
You got this! I am so happy to hear that your TC is doing well. I know its not always an easy process!
Try using something other than a bag?
Thank you! The bags work MUCH better than glass jars.
@@staceyregan785 my question is how to you store hundred of these without crushing each other. at least the jars are reusable and provide some form of protection. these only seem to hold in moisture without offering much protection
Please pack them in a gyroscope
I just made an order yesterday of a variegated black velvet TC so happy this will be my first!
Welcome to the OLN family! Reach out if you have any questions!

Where is the video please?
They are on our channel 😀 There are multiple acclimating videos!
@orangelakenursery7491 I found them thank you!!
I would like to order some plants
Wonderful! Everything is available on our website Www.orangelakenursery.com
🎉🎉hello
I just ordered Alocasia silver dragon variegated from a seller, hopefully it’s perfect condition.
Ngl I love ordering from you all. I'm honestly waiting for the next Monstera Deliciosa Mint drop .....🙃🧐😏
About how long from deflasking to plantlet? Is this 1-2 weeks post acclimation? Or a guesstimate 😅 I'm a Master Gardener (I'm not the Master, it's rly just my cert title lol) & I love working with bulbs, starts & seed. I'm obsessed with Musa but can't afford them really. I am so glad I found OLN & y'all tissue cultures!
Just wanted to add, if you're nervous about doing tissue cultures I'd go buy a bag of 🍓 starts & practice with them. TC was a more intricate version of getting starts potted, imo.
OLN has a whole series on deflasking TC
@@rosegarden1605 thankyou for posting for the next person. I am a little technologically challenged. My TCs are 4 months old with a 100% success rate. 100% reccomend OLN. The owners saw my comments and made sure I got directed to the videos and even provided a few additional answers. I will absolutely be placing a TC order from OLN when things cool off outside! Thankful for all the help bc plants this rare would never be in my budget without it 🥰💚💚
@Orange Lake Nursery quick question! When you water the TC (in the coco-perlite medium) do you use distilled water? I have a well and my water pH at 6.9-7, but I also have distilled on hand for certain plants already. Thankyou!
Great question! We do not :-) We also have well water & it is what we use to water all of our plants, including baby TC
@@orangelakenursery7491 Thankyou & for your quick reply! I love my well water. I drink it so do my plants 🤷♀️ Only have a gallon of distilled because my rain barrel fell over 😵 & some of my carnivorous plants don't like the well. I love your videos. You remind me of me when you're breaking some roots off and tossing microplantlets talking about how some are very careful not to 😅
Create a box with a rounded top so it can't be placed upside down. Weighted bottom could help as well as people will feel the weight and put it down that way
When I order with insulation it is heavy on bottom and there was a this side up sticker
or just two seal lines on two sides so the gel dont drip down
That’s a wish list plant of mine! ❤ ✌️🫶🌞
So I see the bottom of the stem is black? When I received mine, the first one rotted within a week and the replacement had a very rotten bottom but I cut it, soaked in anti fungal and hydrogen peroxide then planted in 3/4 perlite and 1/4 moss, then put under a grow light. I hope it does well! I have a much bigger Thai Con that I ordered as an established plant after my first tissue culture purchase rotted in a week, so I’d at least be able to have a Thai Con that’s thriving! Are you sending them out with rot?
HIi! I am sorry to hear about your Thai. No we are not sending them out with rot. That would be quite counter productive. It sounds like you are cutting off the callous of the plant. I wouldn't recommend doing that. We also never use moss because we have seen quite a few end up too wet & rotting. I hope that helps point you in the right direction! Feel free to reach out if we can help in anyway 😊
