1989 was a busy year for the Steve Wood-Brad Felt Quintet. An active performance schedule was highlighted by appearances at the Hennessy Jazz Search Finals in Los Angeles and the Detroit Jazz Festival. And there were several recording sessions, including one at Solid Sound in Ann Arbor. From that session here are Steve (tenor sax) and Brad (tuba) along with Gary Haverkate (piano), Kurt Krahnke ...
Brad Felt (Sequencer) - "Head" - 1994
Переглядів 58 місяців тому
Brad Felt's musical tastes and talents were broad and diversified. This performance from around 1994 (with all parts devised and played by Brad on keyboard sequencer) provides a fine example. The working title of this original composition was "Head" - Clearly (I think) as in "Head Hunters". (And since yesterday was Herbie Hancock's birthday, it seems appropriate to post this now...)
Brad Felt (Tuba and Sequencer) - "Marjory" - Circa 1994

This performance of Brad Felt's composition "Marjory" is a fine example of his artistic vision and musical talent. He devised and performed chordal and rhythm accompaniment using a keyboard sequencer then played tuba over it. This probably dates from around 1994, so he creatively utilized the (fairly primitive) digital technology available at the time...A one-man band !

Brad Felt with the Habanero Bros. - "Yes or No" - Early 2000s

This performance - featuring a composition by a giant we lost in 2023 - seems like a good way to close out the year. Brad Felt (euphonium) is joined by the “Habanero Bros.”. I have been unable to identity these folks, so I cannot credit the performers on vibes, organ and drums. I believe the performance dates from the early 2000s. If anyone knows who they are (or were), please comment below and...

The Inside Out Band was a cooperative unit formed in the late 1970s by bassist Ken Kellett. Other members included Brad Felt (tuba), Steve Wood (tenor sax), Keith Vreeland (piano) and Brian Russell (drums). Here they perform Brad's composition "To See What's There." I believe this is from Circa 1980; all images (except those of Keith) show the band in performance around that time. Thanks to Ken...

Ron Jackson the drummer was my grandfather…I’m looking for more of his material
Hey CJ ! I'm Brad Felt's brother. I manage his legacy, including this UA-cam channel. Your grandfather was a very fine musician. You are probably aware that he appeared on two CDs by Steve Wood (the saxophonist in this performance) in the 1990s. I believe he also appeared on at least one Tribe Records album in the 1970s. There are other performances from the "Samba de Romance" sessions that I could share. If you are interested in any of this (or other pertinent information I can provide), it's probably easiest to contact me thorough Brad's website: bradfeltmusic.com/. All the best, Doug Felt.
@@bradfeltmusic thanks I will be in contact with you
