    I just heard today I will probably get immune therapy for my scalp and neck tumor. I'll be part of the trial but I heard they got many great results with this treatment for this type of cancer so I'm hopeful. It really sounds like the future of cancer treatments.

    Can chemo to head n neck injury a vessel in your brain? A friend had one chemo n got deadly sick so they switched to radiation. After radiation he came out cancer then 1.5 months later he had a brain bleed n died. Was this caused from the cancer treatment? They did an mri n found it was not a stroke or a tumor. They said caused by stress or age? The bleed was deep in the brain between the two lobes.

    As a retired nurse I have found many times my own death bed humor saved my sanity. Not laughing at a patient, but some ridiculous thing in the circumstance. It happens in my personal life & has helped me overcome hopeless & helplessness. I know I’m in trouble if I can’t laugh at my circumstance. Way back during my nursing studies we had a class given by an oncology specialist. He was trying to figure out why people faced cancer in their particular manor. He began with his young patients. In the office wile waiting their turn his receptionist gave the kids plain paper & a box of crayons & asked them to draw their families in their home settings. They willingly did this. He placed each drawing in the child’s record & during the course of treatment would occasionally ask them to do it again. As the children left his care & he studied the drawings, he noted the children who separated themselves from the family didn’t do as well as those who were close in the family group or chores. And they used the black crayon to color the area of their cancer. Some were of course old enough to know where the area was, but more did not know. Adults requested to do the drawings also colored their cancer in black, including areas not yet found as metastasized spots. It looks like some of the things we instinctively know & do are not so far fetched. His best information was a positive attitude made a very large difference in the outcome. So very glad your outcome was so successful. Continued good luck & health to you.❤️🙏🏻

    I help out a a 100 year old male in the US. He had a squama cell removed from his head in late August 2023. The margins were clear but a few months later he developed a blockage in a saliva gland on his right side near his ear. He had many tests and had his first immunotherapy in late December 2023 and the pain and size of the tumor has shrunk. He is scheduled for removal surgery on January 22 but I feel like we have not given immunotherapy enough time. I found your talk very interesting. Thank you!

  • @thisoldbag8336
    @thisoldbag8336 7 місяців тому

    Thank you for presenting this info on immunotherapy, really appreciate the updated clinical data on this form of treatment. I am diagnosed with squamous cell cancer in the scalp which metastasized to my lymph nodes. Due to critically low neutrophil counts, my oncologist is going to treat with immunotherapy instead. My neutrophil counts are too low to tolerate chemo. I wish my oncologist started with immunotherapy versus surgery first. It's going on 4 months and I still have not had the surgery to remove the parotid gland and lymph nodes. I had a hysterectomy, in that 4 month period, to remove suspicious 15 cm mass which ended up being diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma stage 1b. Even with the hysterectomy, 4 months to get neck surgery is ridiculous especially when the ENT oncologist knows I have cancer in the affected lymph nodes. Now I can see why so many people die from cancer.

  • @thisoldbag8336
    @thisoldbag8336 7 місяців тому

    Great video. I was diagnosed with squamous cell instu on the chest two locations. I was then diagnosed with another squamous cell in the scalp that was invasive with deep margins according to the biopsy. I had wide excision to remove the one of the chest spots, other chest spot treated with Efudex, and superficial radiation on the scalp. I didn't get the scalp treated in time and now the squamous cell cancer has spread to the lymph nodes and have gone to the level 4 nodes. I'm still waiting for neck surgery. Since the spot on the chest I treated with Efudex has returned, my oncologist is looking to treat me with immunotherapy, I don't know what kind though. I wish I could start now, so very concerned how much the cancer is spreading in my lymph nodes.

    I have no idea what sitting would feel like but I can only suspect sitting would be easier. Diagnosed with stage 1 tonsil cancer. HPV positive . 30 rad treatments although I wish now had not optioned for radiation treatment. Maybe chemo would have been better, or nothing at all. Initially I had surgery, seven and a half surgery to remove the cancer in the left tonsil with neck dissection. . Had difficulty swallowing then, but much worse after radiation. Lost 80 pounds in four months. Still, 11 years later have issues with swallowing. However, I’m alive! My heart goes out to all of you who have been through this hell.

    Methods I used to cope through the 35 sessions IMRT. I tried to slow my breathing. I did this counting 1 to 5 in my head while I slowly inhaled. Then counted from 5 back to 1 while I exhaled. I think this distracts you from panicking because you concentrate on the counting and breathing. I hope this method may help someone.

    I'm nearly two years post radiation, I didn't have chemo but I did have throat surgery and a neck dissection to remove 29 lymph nodes. I never experienced mask anxiety during radiation but I did when I had the mask fitment, probably fear of the unknown. I think the model concept or even an initial tour of the radiation facility would be beneficial for new throat cancer patients.

  • @hazelcorrell4537
    @hazelcorrell4537 2 роки тому

    I had tongue cancer and could not find any type of mental support during or after the treatments. There should be support groups during as well as after going through having your head snapped down to a table and fried. I am now 3 years out, still on feeding tube, still have much mouth pain and irritation. The extreme dry mouth makes you suicidal at times. You cannot sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time because of the extreme dry mouth. The cevemeline nor the pilocarpine has no effect once they have destroyed your saliva glands with radiation. Once they get their million dollars out of your insurance company you are pretty much on your own, You cannot get anything for pain and all they want is to continue to see you so they can get more money but they say there is nothing more they can do for you. If I ever had any type OF cancer again, I would NEVER go to a mainstream Doctor (oncologist) again. I regret having the treatments and would never allow them to burn and p[oson me again. You should be allowed to speak with others that have done the same treatments BEFORE you ever decide to do the treatments but they use FEAR to rush you into a wrong decision. Not being able to eat or taste food is NO QUALITY IF LIFE. cancer therapies are all about money/NOT HEALING. i HAD ONE VISIT WITH A PSYCHOLOGIST THAT TOLD ME I WAS FINE. I WAS NOT FINE! I WAS SUICIDAL, GOING THROUGH 3 MONTHS OF TREATMENT ALONE. THE RADIATION LEAVES YOU WITH NO QUALITY OF LIFE. THE MASK IS LIKE A HORROR STORY. YOU NEED CANNABIS BEFOREHAND TO BE ABLE TO SUFFER THROUGH IT.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still cancer free and so very thankful for my team, I only wish they had focused more on this aspect of my treatment.❤.
