Proud Telugu guy! Keep rocking!
India ek barbaad country hai, hum bas population, pollution, corruption me aage hai, sadke, infra, judicial, police, vote bank politics ne hmara deah ka bhatta baitha diya, or ye bnda vaise to advisor hai lekin iski ek nahi suni modi hai government
People talking the obvious is such a waste of time
Why was handloom board abolished. What else has this person abolished
This talk is especially important concerning sustainability issues, resilience, disruptive technologies and innovation, and realigment in addition to applications (with respect to these) embraced by large technology concerns, as well as supply chain security with sourcing and decoupling considerations for manufacturers and materials sourcing. The portion of the talk examining domestic and international locations for business and industry, as well as siting for manufacturing, sustainability, and secure supply chain questions is especially captivating.
This is how a sacked Babu reacts. These guys were riding along fine when the UPA lost the plot and let the rest of the world race past us.
Brilliant. BPR and Digitalization are key to a transparent, accountable and efficient system
I have been looking for this for last 3 years.🙏
Suddha Sanatani, Modi Bhakt... waiting for Nobel in Economics, History, Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Art and Architecture, Painting, Religion ❤ Jay Hanuman, Jay Sree Ram.
Karthik Muralidharan should have been invited to this panel.
Hitler also hated Asians and claimed to be interested in equality. What about poor white people? What about that inequality?
Philippe is the next Ukraine. Will come back for distressed acquisition.
We really enjoyed the presentations for this annual meeting.
People in Taiwan, Korea, Southeast Asia, India already have the Venture mindset lol
P r o m o S M 💋
Sarfaesi & insolvency and bankruptcy code has destroyed industries and made banks real estate brokers...it is a shame we adopted this statute without understanding its implications. Further, disaster is Asset reconstruction companies that take over the debts at lower rates from banks , and yet keep the borrowers uninformed, apply a higher rate of interest and profiteer at the expense of the entrepreneurs. The exclusion of owners and decisions taken by the body of creditors on the subject is like allowing someone to manage the home, inclusive of rearing the children. These stupid schemes are not reforms. Think like an Indian and base your policies. Guide Modi ji and not trade with poor
हर हर महादेव !! जय श्री राम !!
Excellent presentation. Impressed with the level of high tech work done by women entrepreneurs in India
Did he just say that US dollar depreciated by 10% lmao ☠️ex Finance secretary 💀
Nice to hear you.
It’s extremely annoying to interrupt the speaker with questions during his presentation. He was gonna talk about those topics in more details later on anyway. Such a bad format.
Very decent and competent
if those people knwo that india is 11 tn $ economy by ppp mode. once the dollar is managed india will automatially reach 11 tn dollar
Insightful
Thank you for saying absolutely nothing of substance in over 15 minutes!
he is bappu of pappu xD
His talk is the warning sign...actually not even a warning! my sense is that we are not going to be able to recover from the dangerous unfolding of the sharp inequality we have managed to reach, and are even celebrating and encouraging. Underneath it sits a real story about how the system works and how people make choices... And how power has now been established, and will be used to control, manage, exploit and concentrate.
Informative talk...and critical. So glad to hear ... So important to learn to handle criticism and critical observations and questioning. We need such voices.
Loved the honesty and boldness... Have always loved his thought provoking books. Path to Success is clear. But its not inevitable...and this is highly likely to to be the story of India for the next 2-3 decades. No work.... No success.
This is the most spectacular display of incompetence - shudder to imagine how commonplace this is across senior levels of government in India
You rong pranab ji I am Indian bangali TMC not good party
India is becoming a WEF-NWO state. And unfortunately PM is being misled by these Globalists into such a quagmire
Administrative ethics much needed! Control food adulteration and child exploitation!
IBC- bankruptcy code 2016 MPC- for inflation targeting 2016 GST- indirect tax reform 2017 What happened in the 2nd term?
The agricultural reforms . But the idiot farmers ruined it.
These process reforms happened. These were very small number of examples Sanyal gave in this lecture, but the government has made 1000s of such reforms. You can read about them from parliament debates as well
SUMMARY Gurcharan Das discusses India's economic rise, need for industrial revolution, and governance reforms in a talk, drawing from his books and personal experiences. IDEAS: - India has seen almost 6% annual growth rate over the past 30 years, lifting 400 million out of poverty - India skipped from Green Revolution to IT revolution without creating enough jobs through an industrial revolution - During the License Raj, companies faced criminal charges for overproducing goods, even during emergencies like flu epidemics - India gained political freedom in 1947 but true economic freedom only in 1991 with reforms - Despite rising prosperity, happiness did not increase due to governance failures, corruption, and lack of reforms - The town of Gurgaon developed rapidly compared to Faridabad due to fewer bureaucratic hurdles - India's reformist leaders failed to effectively sell and explain the benefits of economic reforms to the public - The Constitution has not been properly promoted as a moral document, leading to issues like rise of Hindu nationalism - Prime Minister Modi has the opportunity to sell reforms and the Constitution to the public - The RSS, while culturally influential, should not introduce religion into politics - India must create an industrial revolution to generate more jobs and achieve developed status by 2047 - Governance reforms in judiciary, police, parliament, and bureaucracy are crucial for India's future development - Engaging in dialogue with tradition and promoting the Constitution can help address issues like rise of Hindu nationalism - India's political class has failed to connect the Constitution's ideas to the people through a civilizational language like Gandhi did - The rise of Hindu nationalism is partly due to resentment over English dominance in business and government - Liberals in India face a dilemma of not having a suitable political party to vote for - The shelf life of Hindutva is likely limited as it goes against the liberal temper of the country - If the economy were to turn down, Hindutva alone would not be enough to keep the government in power - India has been lucky to have had a good economic ride over the past 30 years - The incentive system in the bureaucracy is demoralizing, with both effective and ineffective officers being promoted on the same day QUOTES: - "India has risen in the last 30 years, 30 years the growth rate has been almost 6% annual average growth rate" - "We have not created the jobs that 6% average annual growth rate should have created and why because we have not created an industrial revolution" - "Breaking the law was a criminal offense with a three-year jail sentence maximum 3 years" - "We've helped millions of families in the country with children and so we think we did good job, talk about the difficulty of being good" - "In those 40 years, in the name of the poor, we enacted this command economy and we sacrificed two generations to miss opportunities for the young" - "India obliged by rising, thanks to the reforms" - "Why do I have to wait 12 years for justice in India which I would get in other places in the world in 2 years or 3 years" - "India's story in some ways was a story of private success and public failure" - "Nobody has sold the reforms...we still reforming by stealth" - "Margaret Thatcher used to say that she spent 20% of her time reforming and 80% of her time selling the reforms" - "Gandhi had started doing that, Gandhi had connected with the people by selling the same ideas of the Constitution - liberty, equality, but through the language of Dharma, the civilizational language" - "Constitution is not laws, Constitution is a moral document" - "The excellent ideas of liberalism, secularism, why are they failing us today...because we have not had a dialogue, we meaning the guys who the 2% who have ruled the country, the English speaking elite" - "Imagine feeling deaf in your own country" - "We don't want India to become a Hindu Pakistan" FACTS: - India's growth rate has been almost 6% annually over the past 30 years - India lifted 400 million people out of poverty in the last 30 years - India's middle class grew from 8-10% before the reforms to around 30% now - India gained political freedom in 1947 but true economic freedom only in 1991 with reforms - One out of three members of India's parliament has a criminal record - Only 7% of Indians are fluent in English, while about 15% have some comfort with it - The RSS is coming upon its 100th year anniversary - India aims to become a developed country by 2047 - India is currently the fastest growing economy in the world - Port handling capacity in India has quadrupled since 2011 - Logistics in India are 40% better today compared to the past - Road mileage in India has doubled in recent years REFERENCES: - Gurcharan Das' book "India Unbound" which predicted the rise of India in 2000 - Gurcharan Das' book "India Grows at Night" about governance failures in India - Vicks VapoRub, a product Das' company faced criminal charges for overproducing during the License Raj - Swatantra Party, a liberal political party in India that Das joined - India's Constitution, referred to as a moral document and Dharma Shastra - Manmohan Singh, Narsimha Rao, Atal Bihari Vajpayee - reformist leaders of India - Margaret Thatcher, former UK Prime Minister known for selling reforms effectively - Deng Xiaoping, Chinese leader who sold reforms in China - American high schools that taught civics and sold the US Constitution - Mahatma Gandhi, who connected constitutional ideas with people through civilizational language - PM Modi's radio program "Mann Ki Baat" which Das suggested could be used to sell reforms RECOMMENDATIONS: - India should focus on creating an industrial revolution to generate more jobs - India must implement governance reforms in the judiciary, police, parliament, and bureaucracy - Reformist leaders in India should learn from Margaret Thatcher and spend more time selling reforms to the public - The Indian Constitution should be promoted as a moral document and connected with the country's civilizational ethos - PM Modi should use his popularity and platforms like "Mann Ki Baat" to champion reforms and unite the country - India should engage in dialogue with traditional institutions like the RSS while ensuring religion stays out of politics - The incentive system in the Indian bureaucracy should be reformed to reward effectiveness and performance - India should work on reducing the dominance of English in business and government to address resentment among the masses - Liberal leaders and parties in India need to find ways to effectively champion their ideas and provide a viable alternative - India should capitalize on its current status as the fastest growing economy to push for more reforms - The Indian government should learn from the rapid development of Gurgaon and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for businesses - India must strive to create a more inclusive economic growth model that benefits all segments of the population - The Indian political class should learn from Gandhi's approach of connecting constitutional ideas with the masses - India should set clear goals and timelines for achieving developed nation status and work towards them - Policymakers in India should study and learn from successful reform initiatives in other countries.
PATTERNS: - Process reforms are understudied in economics and policymaking despite their importance in driving efficiency - Identifying inefficiencies, mapping processes, analyzing bottlenecks, reforming, and monitoring feedback are key steps in process reforms - Direct benefit transfers and the JAM trinity significantly reduced leakage in welfare programs in India - Outdated telecom regulations were hindering the IT/BPO sector in India until recently reformed - India's legal metrology laws are a major source of rent-seeking; reforms are still needed - Increasing capacity and hiring at the Indian patent office is critical to fostering innovation - Some state-mandated requirements like compulsory mediation can cause unnecessary delays and should be voluntary - Many outdated government bodies in India should be restructured or shut down to reduce inefficiency - Continuous process re-engineering, as done in business, is essential in government to drive improvement - Economic growth in India is being driven by nuts-and-bolts process reforms, not just structural changes META: - The importance of process reforms was mentioned multiple times throughout the input - Key steps in process reforms were outlined and repeated in the input - Several examples of successful process reforms in India were provided (DBT, telecom, patents) - Ongoing challenges with process inefficiencies were highlighted (legal metrology, outdated gov bodies) - The speaker drew parallels between process re-engineering in business and its necessity in government ANALYSIS: The input emphasizes the critical yet often overlooked role of process-level reforms in driving efficiency and economic growth, providing several illustrative examples from the Indian government's recent efforts. BEST 5: 1. Process reforms are understudied in economics and policymaking despite their importance in driving efficiency (mentioned multiple times, central theme) 2. Identifying inefficiencies, mapping processes, analyzing bottlenecks, reforming, and monitoring feedback are key steps in process reforms (actionable framework provided) 3. Direct benefit transfers and the JAM trinity significantly reduced leakage in welfare programs in India (concrete success story) 4. Continuous process re-engineering, as done in business, is essential in government to drive improvement (key takeaway, links business and gov) 5. Economic growth in India is being driven by nuts-and-bolts process reforms, not just structural changes (high-level insight, challenges conventional wisdom) ADVICE FOR BUILDERS: - Identify and map out inefficient processes in your domain; analyze root causes of bottlenecks - Learn from process re-engineering best practices in business and adapt them to your context - Prioritize continuous iteration and improvement rather than one-off reforms; monitor feedback closely - Look for opportunities to eliminate outdated regulations or requirements that hinder efficiency - Invest in building capacity and hiring talent in critical functions to enable process improvements
India process reforms by hiding Amit Shah strategy
Hats off to u sir...u r telling ur past experience and I imagine the way u got scared and how u got into the situation...nothing is changed today ...the same arrogant behavior we can still see in govt offices😅
The most interesting lecture ❤
A pompous cad!
One thing I’ve noticed, Once a person leaves the government they suddenly start being pessimistic‘bout the economy. Here it is him and another one is Raghuram Rajan sir. I dunno why that happens 🥲
Hand picked officers and ministers, are doing phenomenal job in advancing Bharat. Mr Sanyal, himself grandson of the great Revolutionary Shree Sachindranath Sanyal, is making all of us so proud.
Avinash did great to push back on putting it on Indian culture to have corruption and Indian businesses having two books by bringing in Enron. Don’t take things lying down when they make unfair comments.

😂😂😂 good one
Which country has more than 5 yrs average Indian GDP considering COVID effect in 2020 & 2021? He is always criticizing current government achievements.
In the American way, he is our James bond Amitabh Kant
How on earth can someone trust that anyone can reliably convert social progress into a NUMBER. First of all social "progress" measurement is subjective hell. someone would say having a fridge/microwave at home would be social progress. others might say people adopting Hindutva is be considered social regression. I hate china for sure but not sure their "social progress" is that flat.
Who is this person. Cribs and no solutions. What is he trying to say? . What a pessimist. Questions I can also ask. What are solutions? Old babu thinking old babu way. Hear young people like Sanjeev Sanyal. It is about solutions and cribs.
