Hemostasis:(platelets receptor and VWF)
Переглядів 4402 роки тому
Hemostasis is the mechanism that leads to cessation of bleeding from a blood vessel. It is a process that involves multiple interlinked steps. This cascade culminates into the formation of a “plug” that closes up the damaged site of the blood vessel controlling the bleeding. Reference:Guytons physiology and Robbins Pathology
Skeletal muscle contraction(sliding filament theory),Ryanodine receptors and its disorders.
Переглядів 4912 роки тому
skeletal muscle contractions are neurogenic as they require synaptic input from motor neurons. A single motor neuron is able to innervate multiple muscle fibers, thereby causing the fibers to contract at the same time. Once innervated, the protein filaments within each skeletal muscle fiber slide past each other to produce a contraction, which is explained by the sliding filament theory
light reflex pathway( pupillary light reflex )
Переглядів 9252 роки тому
The pupillary light reflex pathway is similar to the visual pathway; however, the optic tract fibers involved in pupillary light reflexes terminate at the pretectal nucleus in the midbrain and not at the LGN of the thalamus.
VISUAL PATHWAY AND ITS LESIONS
Переглядів 3552 роки тому
The visual pathway is the route by which retinal stimuli are transferred to the occipital cortex of the brain. It encompasses the retina, optic nerve, optic chiasm, optic radiations and the visual centre of the occipital lobe.

Everyone talks about fasting blood glucose and being more than some value. Isn't it possible that, given the other factors involved, there is a stress response? And if it is prolonged over time then there would be high blood glucose. So, wouldn't the cells try to limit their glucose uptake to what they normally need given that the person is not going to be fighting or fleeing?

Thanks Dr. My mother has suffered from chronic aseptic meningitis for several years. They believe it was drug induced from Rheumatoid Arthritis drugs. In 2-3 years time, her doctors have only been able to ease her chronic headaches. Do you have any advice or resources you would recommend? Thanks
