This project is being produced by SRV in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators and the ETEN Innovation Lab (short for ‘Every Tribe Every Nation’).

People used fine linen cloth for making garments to wear, sheets, curtains, boat sails and burial clothes.
Women spun and wove flax fibres together to make a sheet of linen cloth. People sometimes coloured the linen cloth.
Fine linen was the most expensive and beautiful linen. It was thinner and softer than plain linen.
Only wealthy people, Royalty, Rulers and Priests wore fine linen.
People mostly coloured fine linen a bright white colour. They also sometimes dyed it expensive colours of red, purple or blue.
Priests in the temple wore bright white fine linen garments to make them look different from ordinary people.
Pharaoh dressed Joseph in fine linen when he put him in charge of Egypt.
A friend wrapped Jesus’ body in strips of linen cloth before he buried him."

What is the Video Bible Dictionary?
How do you explain what a desert wilderness is to someone who’s only ever lived in a jungle? Or how can a person understand what a winnowing fork is when they’ve never seen one?
The Video Bible Dictionary is an ambitious project to film items, objects and places mentioned in the Bible which will be collated into a single resource (a dictionary of sorts) to help people understand and read the Bible; basically what the things and places in the Bible really look like.
Who’s it for?
The primary audience is for Oral Preference Learners, however everyone and anyone will benefit from a more literal understanding of actual places and items from the Bible.
What’s an Oral Preference Learner?
A person who prefers to listen, learn and pass on information orally rather than through reading (most of us, right?). This ‘person’ finds context critical in understanding the world around them, hence every video in the Video Bible Dictionary will show the item, object and place in context of a person.
By way of an example; do you remember those old school textbooks which showed a silhouette of a dinosaur with a silhouette of a person standing next to them? It gave you an understanding of how big the dinosaur was compared to a person, right? This is the same thing.
Why do this?
The Video Bible Dictionary is part of a larger project to provide a resource to support the local church around the world as they teach and share Jesus with those who have yet to hear about Him.
Who do you work for?
This project is being produced by SRV in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators and ETEN (short for ‘Every Tribe Every Nation’).
Who am I?
My name is Mark Murfitt, I live in the UK and it’s my privilege to produce and direct these videos as well as to oversee the script writing and media production for this project.
Is something like this really necessary?
Absolutely.
For many people, in both developed and developing countries, much of what we’re videoing isn’t known, understood or believed to actually be real.
Is this work copyright protected?
No.
If you want it, please copy it. You can reproduce it and redistribute it, you don’t have to ask for permission or give notice (some of the music is copyright protected, but most of it isn’t. A non musical one can be requested :)
The only condition is that you don’t sell it or claim yourself as the owner/creator of the original material. Other than that, you’re free to use it as you wish.
* There may be other scriptures where this item, object or place is featured, this isn't and shouldn't be used as an exclusive list

Ark Nest - The Video Bible Dictionary

Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. In this Video Bible Dictionary entry we're looking at what an 'ark nest' looks like. Visiting the Ark Experience, operated by the Answers In Genesis, was an amazing experience, I can't recommend enough a visit to see the size and scale of this life size copy of Noah's Ark. The in...
Pine Tree - The Video Bible Dictionary

Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. Trees are different all over the world, different shapes, different sizes, different colours. Pine trees are no different; one man's pine tree is another man's fir tree, so in this Video Bible Dictionary entry we have a look at what a pine tree looks like from the Mediterranean r...
Bushel Basket - The Video Bible Dictionary

Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. We struggled to find a wooden basket, so we had to settle one which was the right dimensions, but made of a slightly softer material Unfortunately sometimes we have to make compromises in favour of speed, cost and availability. This was filmed on location in Israel. Actor/guide/i...
City Wall With Window - The Video Bible Dictionary

Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. This was a tricky video to film as I wanted to give the viewer both the sense of a window in a wall as well as the size and scale of an actual ancient city wall. This location is called Acre, pronounced 'Acco', and is a really great place to visit and film. Actor/guide/interprete...
Town Gate - The Video Bible Dictionary
Переглядів 1832 місяці тому
Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. These town gates are in Acco, in Northern Israel. This small Mediterranean port is absolutely gorgeous, and very old, it's certainly worth a visit if you're able. We had to shoot this very early in the morning as the gate is still one of the main arteries into the the old town an...
Oil Lamp - The Video Bible Dictionary

Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please, please leave a comment. Oil lamps come in different shapes, but there's enough surviving oil lamps to know this oil lamp is a reasonable copy of an authentic oil lamp. This video shows it's size but unfortunately not how bright it was (although we try our best in a darkened room). We were able t...

Fish Scales - The Video Bible Dictionary

Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. To say I'm not a fan of fish would be an understatement, I don't like the look, taste and particularly the smell of fish. So to be this close to an uncooked fish on a brutally hot day in Northern Israel was truly a sacrifice to me. Thankfully I didn't have to touch it, but I coul...

Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. We actually had a lot of fun filming this, only because of the strangeness of the situation. Disclaimer: This is our first run at the Video Bible Dictionary, we'd love your feedback, so please leave a comment. These are actual 2,000 year old copper coins! Lamb is my favourite meat to eat, so I was only too happy to be in front of the camera for this video. This is a great video thank you! Can you please direct me to the passage from 1:00 ???
Hey, thanks for reaching out! We're glad you enjoyed it. The passage is Matthew 5:13-16.
Headsup: the description you have here does not match the video.
Ah, thanks, this one slipped through the net and was published a little early.. :)
What a great job! Greetings from Colombia. Matt, is there an e-mail adress for writing to you?
Hey, thanks for reaching out. Please email us at support@vbd.media.
This is such an awesome channel. Keep up the good work. God bless, just subscribed!
We're so glad you enjoy our content. Thank you for your support!
I want to say a most sincere thank you for the great work on this channel. As a visual learner myself, this is perfect for me to understand the things that made up everyday life in Canaan, especially because the videos are so short. Keep it going!
Ah, I'm so glad you like the videos, we love making them and are thrilled they're more or less hitting the mark. Blessings.
God bless your ministry. please make more videos
Thank you, and, we are making more, in fact we have a whole ton of them waiting to be edited and published... :)
more videos like this please
Thanks alot. Video Bible dictionary, just wow. God bless you sir for this wonderful project.
Thank you, it's so cool knowing our videos are resonating, we'll be posting a video each week, so keep checking back for what's new..
Do you know where did they obtain the oil for the lamps while in the desert?
No idea, but having spend some time with Berber nomads, I'd hesitate a guess that it was one of those things which was traded.. There's nothing in the Bible (as far as I know) to say where the oil came from however, so this is just speculation.. :)
These videos would be a whole lot better with actual bible quotes and less doctrine. Tehillim (Psalms) 118:22-23 TS2009 [22] The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner-stone. [23] This was from יהוה, It is marvellous in our eyes. This quote was originally dealing with king david. And eventually is related to his descendant, the Messiah Yeshua!
Thanks & Amen
Thank you so much for these videos! They really do help me understand more of what I read ❤
This is great! Thank you

The humble Olive Tree .......... which most people ignore !! But yet Love ❤ 🫒🌍🕊
This is a great video. Short and to the point.
We can still wear sackcloth (and fast) as way of humbling ourselves before יהוה
I'm glad you shared this! I've been thinking about the sack cloth used when humbling yourself with ashes! Thank you!
I had never thought of esau's decision like that before. I used to just think he was foolish, but now I see why it was more than that. it was more literally careless than foolish. very interesting.
this one was cut a little early I love what you guys do, keep it up
Thanks for the encouragement, we'll be reshooting this at some stage with a more appropriate fishing net...
Awesome!
This is amazing! I've struggled finding a way to think myself into a culture so different from mine. I love this attempt and will follow you closely. Thank you very much!
I'm so glad!
The garment of Nimrod, who Esau murdered and took his(Nimrod the Second) garment of invisibility was buried in a cave...
Awesome voice over and information! I only wish the camera would have shown the ceiling and walls better and that the guy in the shot wasn't looking like he was in a hurry or didn't want to be there. Him pointing at the ceiling and walls and even some light exploring or looking around would do better. I like that he's in the video for cave size reference to a human! Please don't take my critique the wrong way. I love all these videos! Thank you so much and Jesus loves you all!
Cool! Thank you for making this video!
Thank you for this video. The stick you picture has been cut at the end for some reason. Is it so that it has multiple points of contact? Explaining this in the narration might be helpful to the viewer to better understand your video.
Awesome example! I really like this!
I really like the narration you have in the video. It is useful. The video itself, though, doesn’t illustrate the narration. Again, I think you guys have a great concept with tons of potential and I am grateful for your efforts.
I totally agree with David. I think you guys have a great idea here with lots of potential. Not only showing the fork, but also seeing it being used the way we see it in scripture (and the scripture you presented in the video) would be most beneficial for those watching. Thanks so much🙂
This channel is awesome and so very helpful! I love it and it has supplemented my studies. Thank you so much.
Staff. Very good
I am gonna do my first Passover. I didn’t have lamb so I am using goat.
I found one in my yard. It’s in 3 pieces and I think it’s been there over 100 yrs
Sir, you have to good to explain but here is no any brunch the Bible was said. The other way is that here is no flower symbol. Sorry I didn't find any syntome. 😊
First one here ! TY for the valuable info
I think people saw Jesus as a champion but then the picture changes quickly.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, a residential complex, a kilometer from Qumran. It was originally a palace for Hasmonean royalty. It was called the 'Queen's House. Because animals were also stabled there, it was called the 'Manger'.
These short videos are too short.... :(
I'm glad you think so :) Here's the full video: ua-cam.com/video/2XpmkUsLyFs/v-deo.htmlsi=Nrb2E0oYXaenrEEd
Our pleasure :)
