    Family is from Lake Lotawana, did the BBQ in Raytown. The BBQ was good but a bit pricey. Sides were trash. He said F Raytown and went to Kansas. I’ll never go out there. Should have stayed in Missouri.

    Actually, Joe's KC BBQ has been solidly rated in most top 10 lists, I've never seen it on any lists or any of the locals recommendations......if it was that good, people would be talking about it. They're not...

      KC is Burnt Ends country. Tennessee is Ribs country. For good brisket, try Q39, Char bar, or SLAP’s (Jack’s Stack is an honorable mention).

    • @nimbylive
      @nimbylive 6 місяців тому

      @@bruceayers8384 I'll second Q39. Ironically if you want good brisket in KC you have to go with Texas style. Blasphemy, I know, but Texas does beef well. KC is king of pork. Ribs and pulled pork made in KC with a good molasses based sauce is fire. Good brisket doesn't need sauce. Dry rub alone to get that good char on the outside with a good smoke ring on the inside.

    • @bruceayers8384
      @bruceayers8384 6 місяців тому

      @@nimbylive KC is known for their Burnt Ends. The video claims Harp BBQ is the best in KC, as noted in the title. I disagree. If the title claimed Harp BBQ has “The Best Texas style BBQ in KC,” that’d be a different argument. However, it seems people (trolls) want to make this a “Texas vs KC BBQ” argument which is “apples vs oranges.”

    • @nimbylive
      @nimbylive 6 місяців тому

      @@bruceayers8384 I have never been to Harps so I couldn't say if it's good or bad either. The OG post talked about wanting good brisket. I recommend Q39 as their brisket is amazing. However, it is Texas style. Apples and oranges maybe, but I feel like more people like apples in this analogy so that is fine. not trolling, just offering good brisket.

    • @bruceayers8384
      @bruceayers8384 6 місяців тому

      @@nimbylive Q39 is “competition” style. The only similarity to Texas style BBQ brisket is the thick cut and is served dry. It’s smoked in a commercial smoker and not a pit. The sauces are KC style too. So, the irony, here, is people looking for Texas style BBQ brisket in KC, where the city has established its own spot amongst those in the national BBQ arena. I won’t knock Texas but when the video we’re commenting on is talking about the best BBQ in KC and people ignore it to comment about “who has the best Texas style BBQ brisket” is not helpful. One thing is certain, while there are places in KC that serve excellent pulled pork and spare ribs, Joe’s comes to mind, Arthur Bryant’s put KC on the map with Burnt Ends. Let’s be clear. It’s in the history books and most restaurants in KC have them on their menus, I don’t know if other regional restaurants do? According to www.kcends.com LC’s BBQ are number 1. Anyway, Memphis has the best ribs and No Carolina has the best pulled pork. All styles are different and not comparable. Lastly, if anyone’s still hung up on Texas style BBQ brisket being the best argument, great, go to Texas and report back. However, if you want to discuss the best BBQ place in KC, don’t look for it here either, the Texas Brisket fanatics have hijacked the comment section. 🙄

    Just saying something is the best does not make it so. Harp BBQ is not the best and I’ve got a list! I tried Harp during peak lunchtime on a weekday and was surprised there weren’t more customers, only a handful. I wondered why they weren’t living up to their hype? I soon found out after I placed my order for a Brisket sandwich and loaded potato salad side, both were awful. The brisket was tough and lacked flavor and the potato salad seemed like an experiment gone wrong, it just didn’t taste good - bland and a bad mix of ingredients. Very expensive, nearly $20. I haven’t been back and won’t be going back. The critic from KC Magazine is the only one who touts Harps as being the best in KC. He must live out of town because, in my opinion, he’s out of touch with KC BBQ.

Here's a thought: move to Texas and eat your fiil, D-Bag. Harp's is REALLY good, but to say it's the best in KC, and supoort that by saying it's Texas style is asinine.

I’ve always claimed, “there’s no such thing as BAD bbq.” However, Harp is the worst I think I’ve ever had and that could simply be my bad luck on a very off day, idk. They missed on every mark with the biggest insult being the price. My question is, with all the unique home grown places, do we really need Texas style BBQ in KC? Diversity is great but I’m thinking a place like Buck Tui’s would better serve us. To me, it’d be like trying to open a KC steakhouse in Omaha. I mean, why would they want it, they have their own?
