Factorio - Space Age: Day 4 [A Quality Conundrum]
Today we get caught up in some analysis paralysis as we take a closer look at the expanded tech tree of Factorio 2.0 and the Space Age DLC. There are a ton of new things to work on and some new mechanics that will take time to understand.
It felt like this episode was a bit more about reacting to and exploring the new gameplay components, but we're still able to make the push to building our wonderful little Construction Bot friends.
This is my second recorded playthrough of Factorio. Over 600 hours played, but still learning new tricks. I generally try to avoid cookie cutter builds or using big pre-made blueprints. I'll try to keep it beginner friendly as we embark on this journey together!

I'll be adding chapters for this episode later today. Stay tuned!

Today we expand our factory with an Excavating Channel while injecting and extracting Hell Gems, while digging deeper into the cube mines. We learn about some of the gameplay limitations that make it harder to rapidly expand compared to other automation games like Factorio, and do our best to circumvent these. There was a heavier learning curve on this episode, so I added some time lapse edits ...

What do you get when you cross Cookie Clicker and Factorio? Let's find out! Today we're checking out Sixty Four, a new factory builder game that just released. It seems to have automation and grid design elements similar to Factorio, but also the clicking, force multipliers, and adjacency bonuses you'd more likely find in incremental games. I've played a number of games from the Incremental and...

Didn't expect the Dark Keeper to pull Patrons along with him, then didn't realize the 8 that pulled would chain aggro to the rest as well. Could've set up a mage portal beforehand or hesitated less. Character had like 400g worth of items/gear so it's a pretty heavy setback. RIP Druid and I.

How to put the same amount of coal on the things?
@@PsyBoots In small increments, you can tap Z while holding coal and hovering over the specific machine. I use the mod Even Distribution and hold ctrl to spread it evenly among the machines.
its good to see ya making content again. its been a good while since
Oof, yeah my playthrough starting out in the stone age was rough. Just a lot of waiting for stuff to finish crafting. Started on a railworld preset, it's nice not having to worry about biters for the most part. Curious to see how you end up automating everything compared to how I've been doing it. Feel like I've wasted a lot of space. That said, I used console commands to make hand crafting 5x I made little blueprints that manufacturer components items and later entire chains. Currently have like 12hrs into save and only recently started mass producing iron analysis packs.
you can tell a video will be good when it takes 15 minutes (more than half the runtime) to get to the point of the video
okay, where next episode?
Please continue the series
Bro your build so good that kosh idle copied it and made his own tutorial 😂😂😂 sad that you get so little atention but making shorter form content will definitely help for the brain fried zero attention span skibidi sigma rizlerzs out there glad you didn't give up on this series
Great videos!
Thanks for the reality check
Hey , nice video ! Btw are we safe from Daddy Stitchs on that spot you guys were ? On the roof.
:) Yep, he can't run there so we should be fine. But you never can tell for sure...
I don't think destroying the hell valuts helped with the mining rate. They still react every 500 with them, right? there's just a buffer of them that doesn't react. But once the buffer is full, they should react at the same rate.
Yeah, I mentioned in the description, but didn't realize until I'd finished recording. Good catch!
I tried out the mod and personally love the steam power system, but got overwhelmed by the number of intermediates. Trying to decide what to make on-site and what to ship in is probably the hardest challenge for me in vanilla Factorio, and the additional intermediates that are just formed from one type of ingot just makes the problem worse. How should I decide what to make at ratio on-site and what to put in a train or on a bus?
Something another player recommended was to always build anything made in Small Assemblers on-site. You'll definitely end up with more idle machines that way, but it'll keep a good chunk of intermediates off the bus. Outside of that, there's a lot of different ways to approach this challenge. I've found it's definitely worth looking at a factory plan for a few minutes to think about the structure before starting to drop machines.
I love the spreadsheet!!!!!
Love the joke at the beginning
That looks like the most confusing idle clicker I've ever seen. What the hell is even happening
It does have a lot of moving pieces. It starts out quieter in episode 1
Angels permission 😂😂😂
I think i get what the waypoint does. If you place a second one, activating it will move your screen to where the second waypoint it. Basically fast scrolling.
you need the antena bit\ugprade on that rock %)
What if maybe you need more of the chromolith containment units in order to collect the Angel Foam? Edit: You seemed to be getting more of the angel foam when you had somewhere near 1.4k chromolith
it seems celestial foam is endgame(?) standard resource, it will spawn 70-80% of a block but foam react with hell gems and they decay each other etc etc
I would take a silent AI companion that matched my skill level in any game. No friendship required just a +1 in a game at my skill level
loving the videos thank you for making them
I would love to see some blueprints on these and some of your other videos
I don’t know why but I could watch this all day.
A simple 3 block with 4 exactor is the best 1 hr I am in hello gems.U only slow u down in America of effectiveness and don't complicate the game by yourself onward their will more changes and get all the upgrade.
Will he ever understand the recycling tower
LOL, I recorded this before I read some of the comments. The 3x3 square around it threw me for a loop.
@@blaze_gaming2yea i agree, the visuals of the global towers seem off
@@phil-jc8hp I think the 3x3 grid is there just to show location under the behind other machines, not to show the area of effect.
Interesting..
All machines have a radius shown but it doesn't necessarily mean anything. If machines influence each other in anyway they will link up with a green line when in radius(usually next to each other). So the recycling tower has no range but makes demolishing everywhere give 90% back
Lol, that makes WAY more sense. Thanks!
if you are into incremental games, have you tried universal paperclips and antimatter dimensions? my favourite 2 in the genre. Not quite youtube material, though.
Paperclips is an amazing way to spend an evening! I played some Antimatter, but should give it another shot. I've been playing Idle Dyson Swarm recently, which I would also recommend.
@@blaze_gaming2 antimater also has a defined ending. Took me a month and a half or so to complete.
@@Niyucuatro AD was a blast to play through! think I've never seen anybody recommend that game :)

You can catch the mod list @0:46 and in the description
@@blaze_gaming2 Okay I've overseen that with the description my fault 🤣
I know I'm late to the party but my two cents; If you don't mind train spaghetti you can get away with having a bunch of 'single train per line' O-O loops. The moment you want additional trains you'll have to make everything into a proper loop. Essentially treat rail as one way cardinal directions. 200 hours in and I have my first true train depot for two iron trains. They wait in the hub till the smelting block is under 16k + the mine patch has 16k to pick up. There's probably a better way to set this up as it requires long circuit lines. But that's the thing about factorio. Your system doesn't have to be perfect. You can always tear it up and redo it

sadly my version of factorio broke IR
Mine did too but it was because I was using squeak through. Disabled that mod and it worked fine.

Been playing this since I found this series and when I got to the electronic age I built a bunch of electric assemblers furnaces crushes and the like and then just deleted my entire steam spaghetti factory and switched to an electric spaghetti factory lol and also trying to belt intermediate items instead of trying to make everything on site for like a motor now if I need motors I just take the belts and make a line so much better 😂
