Man, you have a good premise there. Look into fleshing it out and coming up with a smarter joke that will kill. No offense but that wasn't as funny as you can make it. I like the joke about your family thinking you're famous. Maybe expand on it to show how you've taken advantage of their naivety. Or how it went to your head and backfired in some hilarious way. It's possibly true but the truth I bet is more complicated if you really looked into it. Something I've never heard said on TV ever is that African Americans are 25% Caucasian on average. Don't know why they don't bring it up except it makes affirmative action and reparations much harder to do the math on.
More likely it’s because through most of our history if you were even a quarter or an eighth black you were still considered just black. It’s called the one drop rule, if a drop of your blood was black then you were black. Nobody says it out loud anymore, but that’s still the attitude. If someone is less than 50% black everyone still just calls them black, and you would probably look at them funny if they said they were white.
