You got it all wrong. Americans will still purchase all these Canadian and Mexican goods because they need and they can't source it "locally". The only difference is that Americans will pay 25% more for the exact same goods. Yup. Soft lumber wood used for building American homes will be 25% more expensive. Albertan light crude will cost Americans 25% more and they really need it. Canadian fertilizer will cost 25% more. The American also really needs Canadian aluminum and steel. They are the ones who will be getting hurt. Not Canadians. Not Mexicans. Tariffs will have even more impact on Americans if Canada and Mexico retaliate. They can source their goods from friendlier countries. China has already stopped purchasing from America farmers. And have stopped exporting vital minerals to the US.

The American dollar is valued at approximatly 30 cents higher than Canadian. Why should Canadioans agree to pay another 25% tariff? That will only destroy the trucking industry ib all three countries. Trump is wrong and now he wants to destroy the agreement. Mexico and Canada should make deals with countries they trust, this will take years but it will be better in the end.

America is broke, worse than broke, it owes 31 tillion dollars and spends almost 1 trillion on interest payments each and every year and the amount is getting higher by the day. The tariffs on China, Canada, Mexico and any other country trump wants to put on is just another tax on the working class to pay for the rich man's tax breaks. Remember, it isnt China, or Canada paying the tax, it is Americans. The U.S auto industry is already primed for a recession, as is the housing markets. This little tariff stunt from trump is only going to cause more problems and more lay offs. People in the U.S are already complaining about higher utility bills, high grocery prices, gas etc. Under trump, things are going to get a lot worse, and tbh, I can wait. Make no mistake about it, these proposed tariffs have nothing to do with boosting the American economy and bringing back jobs. As stated above, the country is broke and can not afford to keep going into a deficit. Tariffs is just another word for tax. Trump lied when he said the other country pays, it is not the other country, it is the U.S who pays, specifically the consumer. You can bet lay offs are coming, but they were already coming. Go and look at a car dealership in the U.S. All the lots are full. Go and look at repo lots, all the lots are full. Look at the price of electricity, for many, it has almost doubled or worse. Tariffs will not bring back jobs, it will just cause more hardship for the majority of Americans. Sadly, with all the money that will come from the tariffs, it will not be used to help individuals, and I doubt it will be used to pay off the national debt. It will only allow the U.S to spend more and go into more debt. What is coming to the U.S will be well deserved, it will be a wake up call not just to the avg Joe, but to all those who voted for an idiot. Things are going to get tough, but remember, you voted for it.

The U.S. is paying the imports/tax/tariffs not Mexico or Canada something else, there's millions of individual jobs in the the U.S. (there existence becouse of export to Mexico), so if Mexico imposes tariffs on U.S. imports, means Mexicans wont buy, they will buy from China, who has no tariffs, Mexico is the U.S. largest trading partner in the world not Canada, Mexico's effect on the U.S. will be worse, Mexico already does billions in trade with China, the U.S. is not the only market in the world, the U.S. has this bizarre idea that all jobs in Mexico come from the U.S. and China WRONG and if not for the U.S. Mexico would dry up and blow away, because of the U.S. ignorance and stupidity American dont know nor learn about these things, they live in there own fantasy world

Canada is not only making a list of items from the USA that will have tariffs, but is thinking of not sending certain items related to energy and critical minerals at all to the US. There used to be signs in western Canada (during a dispute within Canada in 1970's) saying 'Let the Eastern Bastards Freeze in the Dark'. An old guy I knew told me how he markup prices. Fast moving products, a 100% markup and slower products 190% markup. Americans just too slow mentally. A $10 individual price( he bought in 1,000's) would cost between $20 to $29. After 25% Tariffs, same products will cost $25 to $36.25. Congratulations all Trump voters, u screwed yourself.
