Edited highlights (video only) of a flight from Eshott (Northumberland) on 10th May 2024. The video could have been a lot better and I’m frustrated by my own lack of planning. Short video (and stills). Flight from Barton on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May 2024. We were easily able to get above the clouds and were rewarded with glorious views. The aircraft was G-GURU, a privately-owned PA282-161 based at Barton.

Some clips from a flight on 7th October 2023 from Norwich International (EGSH). There is comparatively little footage as I had to hand-hold the camera. 31:55 That landing gear was pushed back over half a metre on landing. Watch in slow motion and you will see just how far aft the gear is pushed. How it manages to sustain such punishment is amazing. Great video and good to see Dalcross again. I remember when the terminal was little more than a shed next to the apron and it was serviced by Viscounts followed by HS748s and then later using flying sheds (Shorts 330/360). It is now a fully functioning airport set in land a stones throw away from the very impressive 1769 built Fort George, Ardersier.
No way. It would've ripped off. I watched at 1/4 speed and frame by frame . It barely flexes half a tire width. There's a smudge on the window right on top of the the 12 o'clock position on the tire and it doesn't move much relative to that. I have 1700 hours in Cessnas and even as an instructor I never saw even my worse student landings with overly heavy breaking pull the strut back more than half a tires worth. You're getting thrown off by the camera shake at touchdown.

Hi Rob. Thanks for commenting. I live a few hundred yards from the strip so you can understand the fascination! I gather that the owner has, unfortunately, lost his medical and moved his Jodel from the hangar. His contact details are available in the flight guides (certainly AFE). I’ve also heard a rumour that the whole farm (including the strip) is to be sold and that the purchaser may stop the flying. I’m in contact with someone who has flown multiple a/c types into the strip and I’m pretty sure he mentioned PA28. I don’t want to give you his details without his permission but will contact him to see if he is willing to discuss. I’ve been in with C172 and C152 without difficulty. On first C172 visit it was flat calm and it all still worked out OK (having said that, I did have an instructor with me for safety!). I’m sure you realise that it’s in Manchester’s airspace. They really appreciate a phone call before you try and go in. Hope that helps. Cheers. Phil

Hi Sada. Thanks for the comment. I usually fly from Barton but have a soft spot for Shobdon. I'm a civil servant - didn't know the plane's history prior to Herefordshire Aero Club. Are you still flying?
Not any longer. I flew G-BTAL a generation ago in 1980. I was then doing my PPL. I left for Canada soon after and have not maintained my license but love to watch videos such as the one you posted so keep it up! By interesting coincidence I spent a week in 2016 at Wychnor Manor and toured around Barton, Shobdon areas. I suspect the original Alpha Lima was retired and the registration re-issued to a newer aircraft. The aircraft I flew had a Lycoming engine.
