Another great video 👍
Thank you so much, Srivathsan! :)
Renting may make sense in the short term. But you loose out heavily in the long term. Saying this after staying on rent for 28 years with having to move every three years in a new house. Examples you have quoted are exceptions that can happen to anyone. Disagree with the hypothesis, but nice presentation overall!
Indeed, renting isn't the norm and I can understand your take but when you say that you lose out heavily in the long term, I'd like to understand more. If you're talking financially, I've made a video that compares the costs of buying and renting, focusing primarily on an individual's or family's net worth. I would recommend checking it out to see that financially, the odds are that you end up having a bigger net worth with renting compared to buying(not saying it doesn't happen the other way around). If you're talking about psychologically, that's a different conversation altogether. Yes, you might have to consider moving houses but I've also seen instances where people continue to live in the same place renting for years on end because they were able to negotiate their way through it. All this to say, I think we're missing the biggest point or take away from the video - You need to either be well off or have enough money saved to account for the foreseeable and unforeseeable situations. If you do, I would 100% advocate for buying a house. Like I've mentioned in the video, I too am looking to buy a house but not before I have the above sorted.
Dont bother watching dumb take.
Wow! I seem to have hit a sensitive bone with this video. Do you mind letting us know why this is a "dumb take?" 🙂

Please Suggest me 5 books on money making..
It really depends on what you're looking for and which part of the money journey you're on but I would recommend reading 'The Psychology of Money' and 'The Millionaire Fastlane.' Probably two of my favourite books when it comes to money. Enjoy :)

I paid $2530 for 2 bedroom 750 sqft condo including parking and hydro in DT Toronto (York and Bremmer). And I consider very lucky
That's a great deal! :) We moved units in the same building and ended up paying lesser rent for a bigger place with storage. I think it really depends on the market and circumstances.
Very Insightful! :)

@AkashDamodaran ok ! My friend in case of any problem I am with you ❤️
I slightly defer with home purchase or staying in rented house.. i would say. do not buy home emotionally. buy some flat for lesser price may be some old good flat or may be far from your workplace... when it comes to family, a house is necessary we cannot keep family in rented house for years and years like that.. rents do not depreciate.. rents are increasing like crazy.. sometimes equal to house loan EMIs..
Agreed! And the key takeaway here is to not let emotions drive your purchase. But I also see a little bit of social stigma/pressure in your response because you said a house is necessary, which I don't think so. There are people who go through life not having a house but still being quite financially stable and well-off. At the end of the day, buying a house is one of the biggest financial decisions you'll make and you don't want to end up just owning a house and paying the loan your entire life and not having any other investments or diversification. What I just said might sound very contrarian(that's because it is) and probably, senseless. And so, I would highly recommend checking out my other videos where I talk about real estate and you'll see an in-depth breakdown of what I'm talking about with actual numbers. Check them out and I'd love to hear your thoughts 🙂

No mention of rents going up, prepaying part of the loan, etc. This video gives a very stupid advice. Don’t fall for it.
I didn't go into specific scenarios like rents going up or pre-paying part of the loan because these can get really subjective. But I would recommend looking at the numbers video at the end of the video, Thomas. It would indirectly answer your questions because the whole purpose of this video is not to say that you shouldn't buy a house. The real question is whether it's worth the investment, depending on your financial situation and disposition. Check out the Numbers video and let me know your thoughts. I would love to hear them 🙂
@thomas learn how to talk and what efforts done to put a video, stupidity is to type in hide. Then also he is giving polite advice😃 btw no one invited you nor you paid for it
It is great for the economy, great for your security and well being and builds an asset. That too through a declining interest portion which can be compared with an increasing rental payment. Since that's the money you can say goes to waste. 80% of your points actually support owning a home, so you might as well get down to what you are selling! ;)
The only thing I'm selling is ensuring you get your bang for your buck regarding investments and assets, Dhruv! 🙂 Let me make it clear that I too would love to buy a house but not anytime soon because there are far better opportunities out there for me to grow my wealth with my current situation. If you have made some serious money then you should a 100% go ahead and buy a house; it could be a good investment. But is real estate the best investment you can make at any phase of your life, I don't think so. My humble suggestion is for you to check out the videos I am recommending at the end of this video(or any of the Real estate related videos in my channel) and let me know if that makes sense. It indirectly answers the questions you're posing here 🙂
You are right! Most people dont understand how loan amortization works expecially when you got it at high interest rate. Over 80% of the payment will go towards the interest rate for the first few years of the loan term which doesn't makes sense expecially if you plan on selling your home within 5 to 10yrs
You're 100% right! What infuriates me is that most people's biggest goal or aspiration in life is to buy a house quickly so that they can start paying off their housing loans for a good portion of their lives while there are smarter ways to acquire assets, including real-estate.
Minor correction - It's not Giga Byte (GBps) but Giga bits (Gbps) 3:48

Amazing video, thanks for the insight
Thanks, Tanmay! 🙂
This video is super insightful, I mean I can totally relate to what you are saying! I am OCD, I used to think 100 times before even buying a coffee and used to curse myself for spending even upon myself for healthy stuff. I am gonna download your video, will analyse it, rationalize it and see how can I implement it, it's gonna take time but I will definitely implement something or other. Again, great video! Wish you all the best!👌 PS- Don't wrestle with a pig, you both get dirty and pig likes it! (You know what I am talking about)
I love it! I couldn't have hoped for a better comment to start my day. And I love that you're also going to spend time actually implementing the learnings. Keep us posted on how things progress, Akshay! 🙂
3:34 Life is super unpredictable thats true, but at least I'm ready for whatever whatever may happen, because I've budgeted for it and can feel good when that does arise. Its not a demotivator, if anything it's a motivator for a lot. But budgeting isnt for everyone, which is what you're basically saying in this video about yourself tbh.
Yes, you're right, budgeting isn't for everyone. And I can understand the sentiment because I'm a very rational person, just like you are, Gabe. And so it was natural for me to have limits and plan things out to the T. But as I mentioned, we can't predict the future and so when say you're ready for whatever, I'm unsure how that works because we don't know what to entirely expect. On the flip side, if we plan a buffer for our expenses and handle savings and investments smartly, then when these unexpected things pop up then we can handle them and feel good about it. I assume that's what you're alluding to. Fundamentally, what I'm trying to explain in the video is that it could be hindering you from really making more money. Because this requires some level of unlearning and a mental shift. If you have your expenses fairly in order(but also NOT BEING FRUGAL) and you're also making more money then this becomes second nature. Why spend so much time manually things out every month. Either way, I completely understand where you're coming from and I respect it, especially considering I used to be there. Whatever works for you works for you 🙂
@@AkashDamodaran You're right, we can't predict the future, but we can anticipate some possibilities and plan for them. It doesn’t mean living frugally or tracking every expense down to the minute-more like having a framework that gives you peace of mind when things do come up. I’ve found that it’s not about being strict but being prepared, so when unexpected situations do arise, like my car suddenly needing a major repair that costs over a thousand dollars, a medical bill for an unplanned procedure or treatment, or an unexpected layoff that affects my income for a few months, I can handle them with less stress and more confidence. And for me, everything but the job loss wouldn’t qualify me to dip into my emergency fund- because I have specific funds set aside for these kinds of situations, which means I can address them directly without disrupting my overall financial security. I think we’re essentially saying the same thing from different angles: the goal is financial freedom and security, and everyone has a different path to get there. I appreciate you sharing your perspective and the idea of unlearning; it's always interesting to hear different approaches in this financial space on UA-cam. 😄
Hy Akash, I would love to collaborate on your product idea for automated budget tracking. This is something I'm interested in building and have failed trying to set some automation work.
