So many problems with this take. 1: Ace was a grown adult who made his own decision and knew of the consequences. 2: Garp warned Ace, Sabo, and luffy multiple times about the consequences of being a pirate and he still chose that life. 3: even if Garp wanted to save Ace he couldn’t, Sengoku was right there and could have stopped/stalled him long enough to be executed. 4: Garp is a devout believer of justice as well as a hero and saving Ace would go against his beliefs and brand him a traitor. These reasons are why it broke Garps heart when Ace was crying and eventually killed, fyi if it was Luffy instead of Ace he wouldn’t have done anything differently.
