The Whistler was a mystery/suspense radio show, the main star of which was the ironic twist at the end of almost every episode. Usually a criminal's activity was exposed either by an overlooked (vital) detail or by their own stupidity. The Whistler himself narrated, often commenting directly upon the action, taunting the criminal from an omniscient perspective. Each dramatic episode began with ...

👍👍👍👍👍
EXCELLENT! 👏👏👏👏
Amazing how these writers were able to consistently put their characters in such precarious situations.
That was weak.
A quick synopsis would be appreciated !
The guy dug a bigger whole than he originally had dug.
good one !
All that and no synopsis??!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ from England ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A quick synopsis would be appreciated!
My favorite over , The Shadow.
Never heard of The Whistler until 10 years ago. Better than the Shadow!
Awesome
No wonder this show was so popular. 👍
I love Frank Lovejoy 😊
Very nice video Noir images/ scene's thank you. Always enjoyed this series! Great articulation and pitche with Thors delivery!
I also love the theme!! Thank you for providing this wonderful recording!
What a puzzle dames is. A few decades later any number and all permutations who strut and fret their hour in the comedy that's Romance would swap places and even faces routinely; the scheming Kathy would be regarded as simply outré.
O wow... didn't see That one coming! Great episode!
And that's what you call "busted!"
Moving to the 5:55 from the 5:19 is 36 minutes, not 26 minutes. How could they make that mistake?
Thank you
Thank you for making these available
Appreciate the lack of commercials Thank you
Good ending
❤Love this. Thanks for sharing this program. So reminiscent of my younger years. Memories come flooding back when I hear these shows.
I love this
Love it!❤
Like the added jazz at the end.👍.( It sounded like the commercials were removed? It made it smooth listening.)
Great plot. My wife figured it out shortly before the reveal, damn her. She always figures them out, I never do. It's a brilliantly executed twist. The Whistler is a masterclass in quick, cheesy plots with a twist. That they could crank these out so consistently is really impressive. It's a truly quality show.
This station is amazing
Awesome
San Diego - ooooops
Hello from San Diegpo
'The Whistler' is just fine old time radio! It along with some of CBS's other radio dramas is one of my favorites
Hi all
Hello there Elaine. Patrick coming to you from Jacksonville, Florida. It is 8 p.m. on September 28th, the low seventies outside and I have my windows open. How are you doing?
@@patrickoneill8707 Hi . how are you. I'm very well thank you 😊
If only all the guilty were punished and all the innocent freed. These people are evil and deserve to be punished, and in reality there are many people worse.
This a great radio. Thanks
This is a great program. I really enjoy it.
My dad told me that my mom used to listen to this radio show. She was virtually impossible to pull away from the radio when it came on. We lost my mom this past March, so it's pretty cool to be able to listen to something she loved!!
❤
According to my dad, my mom absolutely LOVED this radio show!! He said he couldn't get her away from the radio when it was on. We lost my mom last March, so it's pretty cool to be able to listen to something she loved listening to herself.
thanks
great
I would of cancelled the deal no matter what she said!
He could have gotten Otto to sell the real one. It is very difficult to make fake antiques.
1:35 David Blaine? 😋
Yeah this is way before the magician David Blaine. He wasn't born yet when this episode was on
What a creative writing team this show had.
thanks
Great episode 👍
Another beautifully written and acted episode. And I just hear Gerald Mohr as the 2nd Philip Marlow and Virginia Gregg, what a career, best known for one of the Jack Webb regulars on Dragnet, and also the voice of Mrs. Bates in Psycho and sequels.
... Ok. M..o.o.kk
me too -
