Oh wow! 17 days?! that's incredible! How many islands do yall hit up on this cruise? We've been thinking of a hawaiian cruise, but donno if it's worth cruising vs. flying to a specific island...

We were able to stay the entire time! Noone approached us / kicked us out. Is that a new policy? But we didn't have much trouble. From what I remember, there were plenty of open seating, maybe that's why they didn't kick us out?

Hey! Hmm.. I'm not too sure about 5001 specifically. BUT there were definitely certain days where it didn't make much sense to be on our room's balcony - either because it's windy or too cold to comfortable stay out for long. That said, every day, we did some sort of activity at the outdoor public space (eg. running track up top, enjoying the view on the side of the boat, etc.) I do remember one specific night, the wind/waves were pretty intense, so employees blocked all doors to outdoor space. Nothing from our private balcony flew off though. Hope that helps with what to expect! Hope you have a great time!

Sadly we did noticed certain neighborhoods had more unhoused. However it definitely didn’t feel like a broader problem. Curious if going to tourist spots makes a difference vs locals.

Whao! Backpacking sounds incredible! Was this a whole Alaska backpacking trip? What cities did you hit up?

@@jetlagjourney unfortunately it wasn't all of Alaska, though it was a great trip regardless. We flew in to Juneau and then ferried to Skagway, backpacked from there to a huge pass which took us into Canada and then we came back into Alaska and took a train back to Skagway, I believe the same one you mentioned. I'm not sure of the names of any of these places, I was only 16 lol but I remember it was very rainy for the first few days and then very snowy when we crossed the pass on the 4th day. We stayed in some ranger stations on the summit, awesome views 😁

Hey! This was in Skagway, and we booked a 8 hour Yukon white pass railroad excursion (bus up the mountain and railroad down). This excursion included lunch and the wagon is the pit stop we made to have lunch at! All a part of the excursion we booked! We went last June and it was sooo much fun! A great time to visit Alaska! Thank you for subscribing! We went on our Alaskan cruise mid June 2023! I will say, most days of our cruise was along the coast, so we only experienced motion sickness on the day where we were in more open water (going and coming back). that said, it was not the worst we've experienced by any means, and after some medicine, we were totally fine. If you are sensitive to sea sickness, definitely check out your cruise map ahead to see how many/which days you're in open water! Also since your cruise is San Diego to Hawaii, I'm hoping it's a warmer route, so I'd recommend going outside when you feel sick, it really helped me to just move outdoors and watch the horizon. Hey there! yes, there were some of the classics like Sorry, Connect 4, Scrabble, Jenga, battleship, etc. They also had checkers, puzzles, chess (if I remember correctly). I remember they also had some unique board games too, but I forgot the names. It was an entire bookshelf of games, so plenty to choose from!

May is a great time to visit! We went in June, and even though it's slightly more expensive, it was so worth it! Weather was still pretty cold though, so be prepared! For the activities in Alaska, they take credit card and cash. For cash, they take US Dollars because it's still in the US. We didn't have any card/cash limitations while in Alaska. We departed from Canada though, so of course, anything done in Canada needs Canadian dollars. Have so much fun!!! And feel free to subscribe for more adventures with us!

We went in June last year! The summer months are definitely slightly more expensive for tickets, but the weather is much better (still can be pretty cold and puffy jacket weather). another benefit of going during the summer/peak time is that more touristy things are open. We flew into Alaska once around Sept/Oct, and many things were closed or done for the season! Have a fun trip :)
