Puggles Presents: How is God Like a Chisel? Let's say you are using a chisel set to work. As you chip away bits of rock, you stop to wonder: How is God like a chisel, and how can we cope our feelings with him? I'll tell you with a project you can do at home, and I'll also tell you 3 reasons why God is like a chisel. Let's get started: The Feelings Project You Will Need: Chisel and Hammer Gemstones (Various Sizes and Colors) NOTE: Ask a parent/guardian to help you! 1. Take your gemstone and place it where there is plenty of room. 2. Take the chisel and hammer and lightly tap the gemstone. 3. As you tap, the gemstone will break in 2. What did that do? it didn't do anything, but it can make you learn about something very interesting! When you chip a colored gemstone, it's like you're chipping away negative thoughts that want to make you do bad things. Like a chisel, God chips away the sins of the world to save us from Satan's wrath. God uses suffering to purge sin out of your life and strengthen your commitment to him, and force us to depend on his grace. That's the first thing to show that God is like a chisel. Colored Emotions Emotions are like colored gemstones. Each gemstone means a certain feeling: Red: Anger/Bad Tempered/Grumpy Orange: Hyper/Energetic Yellow: Happy/Good Temepred Lime Green: Fear/Afraid Green: Ok/Neutral Teal: Calm/Mellow/Chill Light Blue: Proud/Beautiful Blue: Sad/Depressed/Anxiety Purple: Brave/Fearless Pink: Love/Thankful/Hope Think of it. Your mind is like the gemstone and God is the chisel. When you chip negative feelings, you will find yourself much different. Chipping Red is like chipping your anger. When you feel so mad, it's like you want to fight others who have wronged you. If you continue to stay mad, it might cost you consequences like going to jail, and even destruction. That is why God is "quick to anger". No one wants to be scared. Remember when Daniel was thrown into the lion's den, but since he believed in God, he wasn't afraid? Chipping Lime Green can take away your fears to be brave and fearless. Without the power of God, you might become so scared, you'll become paranoid and insane. Since Blue means sadness, we have to chip away that negative thought to be happy again. When Jesus died on the cross, he died for us to save our sins. If he didn't die for us, there would be sin and suffering everywhere. Without God's chisel, you would be depressed, which would lead to suicide. What about Orange? Hyperness isn't a bad feeling, but if we're hyper too much, it could lead to us rushing and not taking our time. That is why we have to chip Orange to be more calm and patient. God uses his hammer and chisel to help discipline your minds, and to teach you to spend your time wisely. That's Reason #2. Digging in the Stones As you chip the stones away to reveal glistening crystals, they make you have a lot of comfort. They glisten and gleam in the sun, like the Sun, or the Moon, or stars, or God's worth! That's the third reason to show how God is like a chisel! That hammer and chisel make you dig deep into God's work to find comfort. With the comfort of the Lord, you will be protected by the Devil's evil ways. Review: God uses suffering to purge sin out of your life and strengthen your commitment to him, and force us to depend on his grace. God uses his hammer and chisel to help discipline your minds, and to teach you to spend your time wisely. The hammer and chisel make you dig deep into God's worth to find comfort.
