      I absolutely agree. As I said at the end of the video, in the first 4-6 weeks newborns need to be fed on demand 24/7 and from 6 weeks onwards sleeping through translates to sleeping for 5 hours in a stretch. However, all being well this will gradually extend until between 4-6 months you can expect your baby to sleep for 10-12 hours at night and my tips are to help parents establish this. Thanks for watching.

    Great and interesting video with practical tips I can actually use! For example creating a quiet area. I realize we've been applying many of these strategies unconsciously, and they really do make a difference like creating predictability, announcing actions like heading home, and saying goodbye to close activities. This video is a great summary and a real boost of encouragement. Thanks!

Quiet corners don't work because I cannot communicate to her about it, she doesn't understand. She preventd eye contact and when we call her, sometimes she reacts, most times she ignores

    Good tips, but I for some babies it's impossible to be put down drowsy but awake I think. My baby just screams until he's so upset it will take another hour to fall asleep. It's hard for him to fall asleep even when rocked and breastfed. Not to talk about putting him down... He's 6 months now, I used to be so upset hearing he should be able to fall asleep by himself. I just accepted he has really light sleep and he resists sleep a lot. So this is for the new moms don't stress about it too much 😂❤

    hi Paula, thank you for another amazing video! I was wondering if maybe you could help me with another subject : being hit 😅 my 22 month old has never hit anyone it’s actually the opposite. Other kids tend to hit him and he always freezes and sometimes cries. I actually have no idea what the best reaction would be… I tell him that it’s not nice and that he should distance himself physically BUT… now he is afraid of some kids that we often see at the playground 😖 do you have any advice ? What should I tell him? Thank you ❤

    • @teethingtotantrums
      @teethingtotantrums 22 дні тому

      Hi. I am sorry to hear that your little one is being hit at the playground. I would recommend a few things. 1. Make sure you are close at hand at all times so that when you witness the hitting happening you can react appropriately. 2. If your little one cries then acknowledge that what happened was upsetting for him and comfort him, maybe suggest he moves onto something else with you. 3. If the parent of the child who hit is not close by you can say to the child 'I'm not sure what happened there but we don't allow hitting" then move away. 4. If you know who the parent is then I would approach them and say ' I don't know if you noticed that your child hit mine but I told them that we don't allow hitting'. This all needs to be done in a calm but firm manner to both parent and child. Finally if your little one is anxious at the playground because of these other children I would suggest if possible going to another play space for a while or if that is not possible making sure you are always close at hand to step in if necessary. At 22 months your little one will need you to fight this battle for him and make him feel safe. You are doing absolutely the right thing by reinforcing to him that hitting is not nice and that he should avoid these children, but he is probably seeking their approval and acceptance. It is a tough lessen to learn that not everyone is as kind as he is. I hope this helps and hopefully things will improve.

    How funny! I love the name Dull dad method 😂 my toddler used to do that for weeks and I would get sooooo upset and mealtimes became a war zone. After a while I just decided to leave him and I said « ok I will let you eat alone » and he started eating. But as soon as I would show up, he would start throwing the food again. So it clicked : it was a game for him, a way of getting attention. And so I decided to ignore the mess. After two meals… done. He never did it again ! 🎉

      I will try this method, but m really stressed out cause my baby is 13 months now and he wouldn't eat , so I am listening to other people advice and letting him sit on the high chair and let him play with the food and eat by himself, he wouldn't feed from me with spoon he grabs the spoon and throws it or tightly close his lips, .. even if he is playing and eating the food in very little amount , i am really worried that he is not getting proper nutrition which is hindering his growth and development, i request you if you can please give an advice..

    • @teethingtotantrums
      @teethingtotantrums 28 днів тому

      It is very common for young children not to want to be fed with a spoon hence the increase in parents using the Baby Led Weaning method or BLISS method (Baby Led Introduction to Solids) You are doing absolutely the right thing by letting your little one explore his food and feed himself, so I would advise sticking with this and when he realises you are no longer stressed about his eating he will probably eat more. Try and keep meal times as calm as possible. Try also not to fill him up with milk feeds as this will make him less likely to eat his solid food, which I know is hard if you are worried about his nutrition. However, at 13 months it is safe now to reduce the amount of milk your baby has. I am going to be producing a couple of videos over the next week or so about Baby Led Weaning which you might find useful too. Good Luck.

    My baby is 6.5 months old ,he is staring at all the designs and patterns on clothes like designs on blankets, floor mat ,clothes, wall painting... From 3 months onwards he is showing more interest in patterns than faces.... He is babbling a lot and I am not sure about eye contact .. sometimes he maintains good eye contact and sometimes he won't ..... Is it normal to stare at patterns???...now I am really worried about Autism

      There is a lot of focus on autism these days and parents can easily become concerned. If your baby is making eye contact and babbling a lot I don't think there is much to worry about and it's great that he finds patterns fascinating to focus on. However, as you are concerned and to allay your fears I would seek medical advice for a professional assessment.

    Thanks again for the latest video! 😊 Despite my vast experience with caring for babies and toddlers, I find your videos excellently structured, your tips very useful and your voice soothing. Great reminders about how basics are sooooo important when caring for little ones! Please make a video about starting solids and, in particular, about baby-led weaning. Thank you so much!
