Um, there's no rule that you "Have To" use the thumb safety! The firearm will still work if you don't use it. 🤦‍♂ The real problem is that you're left handed and the safety is set for righties.

Just with how the slide is theirs no way to keep the lci and have it cut for a red dot, I learned that lesson when I got my shield cut because I didn't want to pay 275 for a S&W slide, I'm planning on getting the Max 9 since a new cut slide and barrel are only like 100

I first learned to shoot on a revolver over 40 years ago, and I can’t seem to shoot thumbs forward on a semi auto. I think there’s 3 main reasons: I may have shorter thumbs, I don’t grip anything else that way ( a hammer, tennis racket, knife, etc.), and if the only gun available was a revolver I’d burn the hell out of myself with a thumbs forward grip. I freely admit that I might gain a tad more accuracy, but at this point in my life changing doesn’t seem practical and I also don’t hit the slide lock.

You do not have to use the safety this gun has an I eternal safety, meaning the trigger must be pulled. To combat your safety conversation the ruger 9 max pro does not come with the safety, exact same pistol.

I have the CA version of the Max 9. I see you have a red dot on yours, is your Max 9 the CA compliant version? The CA version doesn't have the optics plate on top, which looks like yours has. Did yours come with the optics plate or the loaded chamber indicator?

Thank you for the video! I was looking to replace my sight to see if I can fix my aiming issue. I read that other max9 owners also facing the same thing. I had trouble with super low shots, until I started aiming with the front sight above the rear one; so that the top of the slide is even with the top of the rear sight. Then, it was dead on. I installed a red dot and also my aim is dead on but I prefer not to use a red dot on my edc. Did you have the same issue I did using the iron sights?

I question having a safety on the gun since this will give the user the confidence to carry a bullet in the chamber... the greatest danger of a gun is the human who is carrying it. I consider it safer to teach newbies not to carry bullets in the chamber.

As a southpaw retired cop who survived three on-duty shootings I believe add on optics, as well as lasers and other stuff, are over sold. Learn to shoot the weapon the way it comes out of the box, get some training & practice regularly. Spend that money on ammo for the range.

Changing the parts on any CCW may have legal implications if you shoot someone defensively.

What holster is that for the max9?

I thought in CA you can go to prison for owning more than 50rds at a time. That’s a lot of trips to reach 1000 rounds!

Where did you get your slide cut from on the Ruger Max-9?

I have a question for you. I purchased the same exact hidden hybrid holster for my Ruger Max 9 and mine has a lot of trigger exposed on the backside of the holster. Does your holster have the same trigger exposure as well? It’s a great quality holster, but I was thinking about returning it, because of the exposed trigger. Hybrid holsters are comfortable, but I have always opted for full Kydek holsters because hybrid holster have always had this issue.

Why would you put a red dot on a conceal carry weapon? Wouldn’t it be better on a full size pistol? You’re spending extra on a gun that will be taken away from you if you use it. You should carry a gun you’re not going mind being confiscated.

i have a p365ca vs with the ms and mag disc. removed...I carry iwb holster with one in the hole. 10 in the mag. I train at 7 yards mag dumping, split times are sub min. Its super fast and safe,with no safety.

Thanks for the video. I was hesitant about putting a red dot on my CA Max 9 because of concerns with blowback from that opening that is usually covered by the Loaded Chamber Indicator. So after about 20 rounds, would you say the red dot becomes useless because of the build up on your lense? I wonder if filling up that LCI cut out on the barrel with crazy glue will resolve that issue. Also I'm guessing it's because you are left-handed that makes it more challenging to disengage the safety. I'm a right hander and I've trained myself to disengage the safety as I come up on target with the Shield & Max 9. If the neighborhood I'm in looks a little shady, I will disengage the safety while I'm still holstered.

Hmmm the dirtying RDS is a bummer. Wish i could buy an out of state slide to have it be optic ready
