If this doesn't work, and you try re-pairing and call Apple tech....before you factory reset your Apple TV. Try unplugging you television for 15-20 seconds and then plug it back in. This worked on a Samsung TV so I'm not sure if it will work for others. Apple tech couldn't figure out the problem and I tried it as a last resort before taking it in for warranty.
