I just listed some lots for sale in BVHP to build on and I immediately felt a sense of deep history walking the streets and just simply observing. This video really helped me understand what I was trying to make sense of. My heart goes out to all that have grown up and still live in BVHP. Thank you for creating, sharing and capturing the historical movements and blessings to you and your father, may he rest with the Lord.

My father was the only one who was able to keep his Victorian House 🏠 438 Steiner in the Fillmore District maybe or more than likely him being a Mason he was a High Priest a Reverend/but 1st a Pimp anyway I remember they would put a mark on the houses of blacks and burn them down our bldg was marked my father painted over it all the kids where scared we stayed on watch until they stopped marking bldg. Now something happened with my generation I moved back and forth between Steiner and the new community they built in HP called Shoreview I live there now I don't know why we are so angry with the turf wars I lost a lot of friends between the late 80's till now along list it seems my daughter now like I use to be at a funeral every week SMH!!Alot of asthma and cancer they took down the electrical plant renovated the sewer plant and cleaning that ship yard was crazy big trucks with toxic dirt n dust everywhere and the police are a gang they wear there blue jeans black tees n shades driving SVU:,s hopping out robbing and beating they crazy and bullies I'm forever holding a camera phone out my window keeping a eye 👀 in em and the treatment of my neighbors I have no idea why they named a school after Willie Brown he said so himself at my son graduation as far as Gavin Newsome that was his only time in West Point giving out hot dogs for votes SMH!!

I was born and raised on 3st and kirkwood , lived in the corner two story flat above the old salami store . I was nine years old and watched the riots in horror for weeks " heard and seen all the shooting going on we were right in the middle of it , we feared for our lives !! I still have haunting memories of that time...

How they do black ppl in San Francisco is depressing. I live in Atlanta so it’s a culture shock to go to a city and see black communities so poor like San Francisco. I used to like visiting SF before I started paying attention to the displacement of black ppl. Now going there is sad.

My grandparents met in SF after moving from the south. Started a family in Hunters Point and rest is history. Heard the stories about the riots in the 60’s.

The things I’m thankful for is not having that bad horrible disease HIV/AIDS and I’m straight I love only women but I haven’t had sex for over eight years and every year just for the heck of it I have my doctor test my blood for HIV/AIDS or any STDs and it’s all non-reactive Now that is something to be thankful to God thank you Jesus Christ protecting me from this killer disease 🦠 I believe God always subconsciously talk to people and their brain to tell them don’t have sex with this person but a lot of people ignore God or the voice in their head you should listen to your voice in your head anyways everyone you should stay abstinent just masturbate it’s a lot better go look at porn hub videos you should only have sex with a person through marriage and both must have your blood tested for HIV/AIDS or any STDs and they show the virus 🦠 You should not marry that person or have sex with that person I believe anybody that has HIV/AIDS they should have a tattoo on There for head Or on their stomach or on their backside there but ☣️ HIV/AIDS positive + HIV/AIDS positive virus so that if you’re going to have sex you’re going to see that emblem that way you know what you’re getting yourself into if you already have the virus and the other person has the same virus it doesn’t matter might as well have sex without a condom 🦠😂🤣

Great documentary! Just visited San Francisco first time from Chicago this past Thanksgiving. Visited the Bay view and hunters point. I didn’t realize how the old candlestick park was so close to Bayview. I can see why they left move to Santa Clara. Great history in San Francisco

I graduated from Burton 1991! Grew up on 1451 Underwood Ave This film brought back so many wonderful memories of my childhood!!! BayView Hunters Point was a special place ! It had its issue but it was home!!

Been living in HP since 1962 moved to Double Rock in 1987...Double Rock liquor store was the spot back then, I remember Bobby Blue Bang and BB King would play there time to time Fitzgerald's St was home.

I'm from the original Turk Wood projects and we were relocated to OC project after they tore down Turk Wood. I even lived in the ChinaTown projects and left there in 1994 moved to Sacramento. It is sad to see this, but I saw it coming. The best thing for black folks is to buy land and move out of the cities before land gets to expensive in which it is already going up.

My family moved to the bayview hunters point in the early 70s after this race riot. We are Armenian Palestinians. My parents r both from Lebanon and left from the war, coming to San Francisco, particularly bayview. So now after years I’m still living here.

This is a wonderful video I grew up in the Bay area and spent my weekends in San Francisco it's messed up the police killed all those people if I had a lot of money I would visit San Francisco a lot.
