Safety was a huge concern for us when designing Cascada, the world's most advanced auto waterer for horses. It is fully enclosed with a smooth rounded surface. This design prevents the likelihood of the horse being injured by edges and bumping their faces. Cascada operates off of a low-voltage power connection so in the event that the horse damages the device it will still remain safe.

How do you mange the manure build up?
It's best not to let the manure build up. It's easy to pick off of the Lighthoof surface, unlike trying to scrape it out of the mud! If it does build up, you can just scrape it off carefully with the tractor. However, most people prefer to poo pick regularly depending on the size of their paddocks to keep a cleaner living area.

What is the membrane under it ?
It's a non-woven geotextile fabric. The fabric keeps the sub-base and the gravel layers nicely separated and the Lighthoof prevents the fabric from coming up or moving.

Too bad the ground slopes toward the barn.

Will you be adding cross fences to make individual paddocks like you had before the makeover, or just letting one horse out at a time?
Yes! We added small lines of electric wire from the edge of the fence to the side of the barn to make individual runs that could be easily and quickly removed for maintenance or fire escape. :)
Where did you buy those black gates?
We got them at our local farm supply coop. The brand is ProLink and they come in black or green. :)

This is just under $4k in Lighthoof and fabric. The gravel cost around $1,500. :)
