I think our(particularly those born before 2000) audacity comes from all this exposure because of the internet AND the books we read growing up (pacesetters, which sadly can't be found). We also have a clear view of both worlds. Our parents generation and the generation after us gives us a lot to compare and choose from. In our generation mental health and child rights have been pushed so much and we've taken it seriously so we at least have sort of awareness on matters self worth + dignity. On top of that, we have found ourselves as the youngest ones in diverse work spaces that the adults before us did not and the work culture in those places has been off putting. I'm not sure if other generations actually share workplace experiences like us, but that might also be a pointer. In Kenya, we are literally the last 8-4-4 "like that" generation because after us(even before CBC), things were already changing. I.e are drama and music festivals now the same as then? The music while we were growing up is not the same as those born 2000 and on. The playing spaces, the singing games. I feel like we are the last part of certain eras who are also young enough to adapt to this new era and thats why we are the way we are. On the quitting however we want part(cold quitting), I blame it on the corporal and group punishments we had at school because even if you were innocent you'd get punished and never listened to, so why bother? I however recommend everyone resign professionally.
