Hoo boy... I think you may have interacted with the game very differently from how the creators intended (and most players experienced). You seem to be placing important of the PLOT, as opposed to the mechanics. The plot exists simply to give you impetus to explore the concepts presented by the mechanics (e.g. the skill tree, thought cabinet, and ideologies.)

There were some massive problems between the main writers/leads and the company apparently so probably no second game
